TS: Miffy vs Hello Kitty

I can't help thinking Miffy would 'have' Kitty-chan in a rumble in the stationery shop any day. More symmetrical, cleaner lines and a much cooler vibe altogether. Thoughts ?

When I first saw Nijntje (a.k.a. Miffy), I thought, "Ugh, what a ripoff of Hello Kitty." Then I discovered that Nijntje actually predates Hello Kitty by a long time (and predates Sanrio, too). In any case, I picked up a few books when I was in Brugge, including my favorite:

...which is about the death of Nijntje's grandmother. At the end, she places flowers on her grave and "hopes she understands." Very frank and sweet, especially for a book for very young children. I tried to convince my friends to start using the phrase "Dutch bunny" as a new cool endearing term ("Hey what's up, Dutch bunny?"), but that never caught on.
