Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 20 January 2003 03:40 (twenty-three years ago)

DV to thread!

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Monday, 20 January 2003 03:44 (twenty-three years ago)

I am all about the Raiders. raider roxx, bucs r gay.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 20 January 2003 03:47 (twenty-three years ago)

i was kinda rooting for the eagles ... so it's another Super Bowl where i officially don't care who wins.

Tad (llamasfur), Monday, 20 January 2003 03:50 (twenty-three years ago)

I was rooting for the Eagles too, because my arch nemisis is Keyshawn Johnson. ALAS I can't have it all. How can you not care about Pirate Bowl though? You could have the greatest Super Bowl party ever - spiced rum!

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 20 January 2003 03:56 (twenty-three years ago)

i didn't think of it quite like that ... that's true!

Tad (llamasfur), Monday, 20 January 2003 03:57 (twenty-three years ago)

it's also kinda hard for me to get over that the Bucs are in the Bowl ... they used to suck so bad for so long, ever since i was a kid ...

Tad (llamasfur), Monday, 20 January 2003 03:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Go Raiders! Colin Saunders - old friend, die hard Raider fan and new poster - was at the game with a girl from Tennessee! I think she's going to get drunk and beat him up now.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 20 January 2003 04:08 (twenty-three years ago)

The Bucs should be banned from the Super Bowl on the basis of their old uniforms alone.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 20 January 2003 04:21 (twenty-three years ago)

arrr...now I can't get the Sea Captain from de Simpsons out of my head. arrr....

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 20 January 2003 04:22 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah, the Bucs' old uniforms were really fugly ... so Seventies, and in a BAD way

i guess i'm gonna root for the Bucs ... i like Warren Sapp

Tad (llamasfur), Monday, 20 January 2003 04:24 (twenty-three years ago)

maybe they can get Adam Ant to sing the national anthem, or do the half-time show ... the pirate thing and all, y'all know

Tad (llamasfur), Monday, 20 January 2003 04:25 (twenty-three years ago)

ooh! yay! *hopping and clapping* now Adam and the Sea Captain are doing a version of Ant's "Jolly Roger". I sure hope those teams can *horn blows, horses whinny* STAND AND DELIVER!

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Monday, 20 January 2003 04:27 (twenty-three years ago)

They should install the Pirates of the Carribean at the entrance to the stadium.

Ally (mlescaut), Monday, 20 January 2003 04:30 (twenty-three years ago)

that WOULD be the coolest Super Bowl half-time show ever ... other than KISS ... but it'll probably be some lamer-act like Creed or some shit like that

Tad (llamasfur), Monday, 20 January 2003 04:31 (twenty-three years ago)

Doug Drabek should do the coin toss

James Blount (James Blount), Monday, 20 January 2003 04:32 (twenty-three years ago)

anyhow, I'm rooting for the Bucs (I like Sapp too)

James Blount (James Blount), Monday, 20 January 2003 04:33 (twenty-three years ago)

i lied before about not caring who won the past few super bowls ... i was rooting for the rams, 'cause ricky proehl is a homeboy (and a genuinely nice person)

Tad (llamasfur), Monday, 20 January 2003 04:35 (twenty-three years ago)

Yay, Eagles (next year)

A Nairn (moretap), Monday, 20 January 2003 04:39 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm rooting that the team that beat the Eagles gets blown out of the water, or, wait, I want them to win so it looks like they were just really good and the Eagles are second best.

A Nairn (moretap), Monday, 20 January 2003 04:40 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm off to do my "pirate-booty"-bass mix of the Pirates of the Carribean theme now! - "Yo Ho!, Yo Ho!..."

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 20 January 2003 04:43 (twenty-three years ago)

and after that eye injury, Warren Sapp may have to play with an eye-patch! yay!

also, is Momus part of the Raider Nation?

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 20 January 2003 05:00 (twenty-three years ago)

one fancy pirate (bnw), Monday, 20 January 2003 05:13 (twenty-three years ago)

The autumn wind is a raider.

Just got back from Oakland, having witnessed the Raiders whoop much Titan ass. Must go drink more now. See you in San Diego.

Also -- LL Cool J halftime show. Good. Metallica in the parking lot before the game. Better.

RAIDERS BABY!!!!

Colin Saunders (csaunders), Monday, 20 January 2003 05:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Keep Sapp away from Rice! part two.

Leee (Leee), Monday, 20 January 2003 07:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 20 January 2003 07:34 (twenty-three years ago)

i flew out of oakland on friday afternoon and sat an aisle away from (former governor of california and current mayor "moonbeam"/"spaceman") jerry brown on Southwest Airlines.

I came back today and landed at around noon and after getting off the AirBART shuttle at the Oakland Coliseum, I was suddenly surrounded by the Raider Nation... very amazing display of costumes today. I watched the parade up the Coliseum Skyway for a few minutes looking for any brave Tennesse fans but none were to be found.

Went home then fell asleep trying to dream about girls but i couldn't stop dreaming of world war 3.

gygax!, Monday, 20 January 2003 07:47 (twenty-three years ago)

did you read that article in the NY Times today on the back page of the Week in Review about nuclear weapon ranges with the Wargames style maps?

also, I've really grown to like Mayor moonbeam. I like how he thinks globally, but acts civically.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 20 January 2003 07:55 (twenty-three years ago)

I have a soft spot for the Ancient Mariners. Go Raiders! Beat the Swishbucklers!

felicity in london (gareth), Monday, 20 January 2003 08:02 (twenty-three years ago)

Having the result of a game you taped overnight in the UK and haven't watched yet spoiled for you by reading this thread title - classic or dud?

Snowy Mann (rdmanston), Monday, 20 January 2003 11:27 (twenty-three years ago)

oh well it was just a football game

Chupa-Cabras (vicc13), Monday, 20 January 2003 11:31 (twenty-three years ago)

not just a football game, we beat the eagles asses in their own backyard

giovanni (blake), Monday, 20 January 2003 22:54 (twenty-three years ago)

Beautiful

James Blount, Monday, 20 January 2003 23:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Has there ever been a Super Bowl, or any pro sports championship in fact, where a head coach leaves one team for another and the next season they both face off against each other?

Leee (Leee), Monday, 20 January 2003 23:46 (twenty-three years ago)

I can't think of any; the last Super Bowl matchup with personal ramifications I can think of was the Elway-Reeves faceoff a few years back.

James Blount, Monday, 20 January 2003 23:55 (twenty-three years ago)

much as I appreciate the fact that the Bucs knocked out the Eagles, I think I'm pulling for Oakland in this just b/c they're cooler pirates and it is REALLY hard to imagine Tampa Bay ever having a decent football team. And is it just me, or is there always this association w/the Raiders of playing really ugly & tons of penalties but getting away with it ? I have to say I'm thrilled that either way, the pirates win ! ARG.

daria g, Tuesday, 21 January 2003 07:16 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah, I have to remind myself that any connection between the present day Raiders and the Raiders of old is purely cosmetic.

James Blount (James Blount), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 07:17 (twenty-three years ago)

Strange thing is, the Raiders, no matter the personnel (i.e. under Gruden or under Callahan), ALWAYS have and will get flagged tons.

Leee (Leee), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 07:21 (twenty-three years ago)

continuity = Al Davis

did u know he's the only NFL owner not to share merch revenues? you know why? cause he doesn't WANNA!

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 07:35 (twenty-three years ago)

PIRATES UBER ALLES! just reviving the thread - I want to give out eyepatches at my Superbowl party.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 20:49 (twenty-three years ago)

I hope they find some referees with peg-legs. Arrgh.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 20:54 (twenty-three years ago)

Is The Captain going to be at your Super Bowl party Ally?

James Blount (James Blount), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 21:02 (twenty-three years ago)

You are all so wrong about the Bucs old uniforms that I can't even believe it. It depresses me in my head to think that they changed those classic duds!!

Anyway, I'll probably drink a galleon of booze on sunday.

lawrence kansas (lawrence kansas), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 21:10 (twenty-three years ago)

Sorry Lawrence, I'm gonna have to go with the thumbs down on the old Bucs unis. The old hiking pilgrim from the Patriots was funny too.

It should be a good matchup. I hear the line is Bucs by 4. My money, if I had any, would be on the Raiders. :)

felicity (felicity), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 21:31 (twenty-three years ago)

The new unis that teams are adopting have taken all the vibrant colors out of the game and it worries me to no end. That hiking minuteman was classic!

Next thing you know you'll be dissing the old charger uniforms!!

aesthetic supporter (lawrence kansas), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 21:39 (twenty-three years ago)

But the Chargers were good then.

I did love the retro Thansgiving Day uniform matchup where the Lions wore those totally plain silver helmets that made them look like a Division III college outfit.

(no Joey Harrington jokes please)

felicity (felicity), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 21:44 (twenty-three years ago)

when was the last time oakland/los angeles/oakland changed uni's/helmets?

gygax!, Tuesday, 21 January 2003 21:47 (twenty-three years ago)

re raiders: never have as far as I know.

those lion unis on thanksgiving made all their players look fast and skinny!!

lawrence kansas (lawrence kansas), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 21:51 (twenty-three years ago)

when was the last time oakland/los angeles/oakland changed uni's/helmets?

no Jerry Rice jokes please

felicity (felicity), Tuesday, 21 January 2003 22:01 (twenty-three years ago)

callahan = beau bridges

keith (keithmcl), Wednesday, 22 January 2003 04:38 (twenty-three years ago)

well I guess Shania got extra but she had the great bra.

felicity (felicity), Monday, 27 January 2003 05:50 (twenty-three years ago)

I didn't see this, but I think anything that involves the humiliation of Sting should be encouraged!

Nicole (Nicole), Monday, 27 January 2003 05:51 (twenty-three years ago)

Sting didn't have any songs relating to how he felt vis a vis his feminimity

James Blount (James Blount), Monday, 27 January 2003 05:51 (twenty-three years ago)

God in heaven, that officiating WAS terrible. Stupid downed-ball-as-fumble in the 1st half, and then that bogus pass interference call (costing the Raiders 3+ minutes of drive-time) AND AND AND that egregious boner by the moron in the end zone (duh, of course he landed out of bounds HE WAS PUSHED OUT! and therefore should be awarded the 2-point conversion you MORON) AND AND AND AND that play on the Raiders' 2nd-to-last drive where Jerry Rice was PUSHED OUT OF BOUNDS - thereby stopping the clock - and the call on the field was that Rice was tackled inbounds - thereby keeping the clock running.

To paraphrase another commercial witnessed tonight - "Those guys are jackasses!"

David R. (popshots75`), Monday, 27 January 2003 05:52 (twenty-three years ago)

she looked a little scared up in that crane

poll: when the announcer said of carlos, "he's still got the magic, and the black magic woman" - was he making reference in any way to beyonce? intentionally or subconsciously?

ron (ron), Monday, 27 January 2003 05:53 (twenty-three years ago)

I keep thinking the officiating has been especially bad this postseason to give steam to the 'make 'em fulltime!' argument

James Blount (James Blount), Monday, 27 January 2003 05:54 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh yes, that commercial with the horses was cute.

felicity (felicity), Monday, 27 January 2003 05:55 (twenty-three years ago)

my sister - "I bet that zebra's cold"

James Blount (James Blount), Monday, 27 January 2003 05:57 (twenty-three years ago)

ugh. I'm glad I avoided getting trashed. not only did the Raiders go down, but now football's over and the only other sport I really like is Formula 1 and I'm not about to get satellite television for that...

but still, GO RAIDERS! :..(

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 27 January 2003 05:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Draft picks galore!

felicity (felicity), Monday, 27 January 2003 06:01 (twenty-three years ago)

"Hello Mr Bond, my name is Draft Picks Galore."

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 27 January 2003 06:19 (twenty-three years ago)

You're all scaring me. But this bra talk is scariest of all.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 27 January 2003 06:59 (twenty-three years ago)

she looked kind of like aeon flux

ron (ron), Monday, 27 January 2003 07:07 (twenty-three years ago)

she looked FOINE per usual

James Blount (James Blount), Monday, 27 January 2003 07:08 (twenty-three years ago)

uh oh spaghettios! - http://www.ktvu.com/sports/1934537/detail.html

James Blount (James Blount), Monday, 27 January 2003 07:17 (twenty-three years ago)

but when you go on yr date with her, wouldn't you prefer that she wear some other outfit

ron (ron), Monday, 27 January 2003 07:28 (twenty-three years ago)

if the other outfit is a wonder woman outfit - yes

otherwise - no

James Blount (James Blount), Monday, 27 January 2003 07:30 (twenty-three years ago)

No amount of officiating could have saved the Raiders. They just ran into a buzzsaw. It was Tampa's year.

fave Berman line = Eric "sleeping with" Bienemy

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Monday, 27 January 2003 07:40 (twenty-three years ago)

Worst SB since Ravens/Giants?

And gosh, Mogwai on a Levi's commercial? I nearly gagged.

Leee (Leee), Monday, 27 January 2003 07:41 (twenty-three years ago)

I didn't get to appreciate how FOINE Shania may have looked, I was too distracted by her horrible lip-syncing (at one point she wasn't even holding the mic to her face, yet the singin' just kept on keepin' on!).

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 27 January 2003 16:06 (twenty-three years ago)

If ODB ran out there and started busting out some raps I would have shit my pants.

Chris V. (Chris V), Monday, 27 January 2003 16:10 (twenty-three years ago)

And gosh, Mogwai on a Levi's commercial? I nearly gagged.

It was originally supposed to be Sigur Ros but they turned it down.

So who won the Bud Bowl this year? I turned it off before I could find out the outcome.

Aaron W (Aaron W), Monday, 27 January 2003 16:24 (twenty-three years ago)

We thought that Shania's bra was great. It was like her boobs were singing the song; we wanted to retitle it "Man, I Feel Like A Woman (Because Of My Tremendous Sparkly Boobs)".

Rivalling Cher in the 'not goth but trying' OTT category...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 16:05 (twenty-three years ago)

It's Pirate Goth, Ned. Do keep up.

felicity (felicity), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 16:06 (twenty-three years ago)

"Woah-oh-oh/Breasts breasts breasts/Boobies boobies boobies knockers/Man! Look at my jugs!"

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 16:08 (twenty-three years ago)

It's Pirate Goth, Ned. Do keep up.

THAT is hardly Pirate Goth. I don't give a damn who the fuck was playing in the game. *stamps feet and pouts until point is accepted*

Man! Look at my jugs!

There's not much else to look at.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 16:16 (twenty-three years ago)

You can look at how her hair extensions are a completely different color from her natural hair.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 16:31 (twenty-three years ago)

I can see enough of that around OC, believe me.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 16:34 (twenty-three years ago)

That is totally Pirate Goth, stop being a baby.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 18:55 (twenty-three years ago)

Wah wah wah.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 19:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Who is more likely to secretly be Highlander, Shania or Britney?

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 19:02 (twenty-three years ago)

She's a helmet-mask and a "hoooo-haaaaa" away from being Darth Vader!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 19:03 (twenty-three years ago)

ODB should have ran up there and kicked her in the boobs.

Chris V. (Chris V), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 19:03 (twenty-three years ago)

That settles it. That's the outfit I'm wearing to Michaelangelo's birthday party. The Darth Vader thing, not the ODB thing.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 19:05 (twenty-three years ago)

*Internet collapses under massive booking of airline tickets from ILX massive to attend party*

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 19:12 (twenty-three years ago)

ODB should have asked her "You want me to stick some of my babies up in you?" on live TV.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 19:13 (twenty-three years ago)

Wait, so people are actually complaining about Shania's look?

David R. (popshots75`), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 19:14 (twenty-three years ago)

Only the insane people. I fully support the coup her breasts are staging on the rest of her torso; pretty soon they're going to get their own representation and trailer and EVERYTHING.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 20:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Only the insane people.

Fie.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 20:01 (twenty-three years ago)

Fie on your fie. She's rockin' the "sexy pirate captain with unnaturally-sparkly boobs" look.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 20:06 (twenty-three years ago)

She looks like Skeletor in Dominatrix mode!!!

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 20:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Skeletor never had thighs like that.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 20:13 (twenty-three years ago)

Shania = NOT SEXY. This isn't any Alex in NYC thing, it's just a general 'eh.'

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 20:17 (twenty-three years ago)

Shania's body = hot
Shania as a person = not

Aaron W (Aaron W), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 20:20 (twenty-three years ago)

Skeletor did too have thighs like that. Have you ever seen Skeletor? He was mad buff.

Ally (mlescaut), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 20:29 (twenty-three years ago)

Are we part of the pirategoth scene yet?

felicity (felicity), Tuesday, 28 January 2003 20:44 (twenty-three years ago)

(Skeletor was indeed cut, yet still he always wimped out.) (pirategoth shania reminds me a bit of FFX hottie Lulu.)
