CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Thursday, 13 October 2005 08:46 (twenty years ago)

My understanding is that the baltic states are supposed to have the most classical beauties. Ti(i)t to thread?

Which Baltic states tho? Estonia = Nordic, Lithuania = errrrrrrr not Nordic (Slavic?), Latvia = errrrrrr, oh I wish I'd never started...

Dadaismus (Dada), Thursday, 13 October 2005 08:49 (twenty years ago)

When we got back from NYC the other week, we couldn't believe how ugly most people walking around in central Manchester seemed. Part of the problem is a taste for terrible fashion - suede boots that make legs look like sausages, layers of fake tan, way-too-short denim minis and enormous chastity belts. Oh, and horrible furry vests.

When I was in Stockholm, I felt very ugly.

elisabeth k, Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:14 (twenty years ago)

I think I'd feel very beautiful, I hate that blonde Nordic look

Dadaismus (Dada), Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:17 (twenty years ago)

Consensus etc.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:19 (twenty years ago)

Consensus - that'd be a good name for a message board...

Must admit Frida always excited me more than Agnetha.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:21 (twenty years ago)

There were just so many typically gorgeous blondes with perfect features. Though weirdly lots of people kept talking to me in Swedish - apparently it's my half-Lithuanian features that threw them. One guy thought I was his long lost friend from some minute village up in northern Sweden.

elisabeth k, Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:21 (twenty years ago)

i'm not so into the nordic look.

N_RQ, Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:23 (twenty years ago)

Must admit Frida always excited me more than Agnetha.

Seconded

Dadaismus (Dada), Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:24 (twenty years ago)

the brunette in Ace Of Base was hotter than the blonde too.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:25 (twenty years ago)

Brunettes are always hotter. Look at Anne Widdecombe.

Dadaismus (Dada), Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:26 (twenty years ago)

I wouldn't have tried it.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:26 (twenty years ago)

she's out of my league, by about 20,000 to be precise

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:28 (twenty years ago)

I have strange tastes when it comes to the opposite sex, it has to be admitted, but Anne Widdecombe is way beyond my ken.

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:29 (twenty years ago)

Ann Widdecombe hasn't been brunette for about five years. Or are you saying she looked hotter then than she does now?
http://www.randomshite.co.uk/shite/pope-widdy.jpg v http://www.political.co.uk/annwiddecombe/images/out64.jpg

Mädchen (Madchen), Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:32 (twenty years ago)

Theresa May, yes. Julie Kirkbride, yes. Anne Widdecombe, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:33 (twenty years ago)

One guy thought I was his long lost friend from some minute village up in northern Sweden.

haha, that old line.

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:35 (twenty years ago)

My theory is that as brunettes are obviously so much hotter than blondes that, if you are - not to put to fine a point on it - ugly beyond hope of redemption, then dyeing your hair blonde will make you less ugly... I've not worked it out fully yet

Dadaismus (Dada), Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:39 (twenty years ago)

do you prefer a bald lady to a blonde one? what about the fabled 'readhead'?

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:46 (twenty years ago)

i haven't eaten today which explains most of the typos

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:46 (twenty years ago)

my missus is a 'readhead'.

N_RQ, Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:47 (twenty years ago)

Redheads are in the category of their own, beyond the realm of mere mortal women

NICOLA GIRLS ALOUD END OF ARGUMENT

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:50 (twenty years ago)

not even she knows

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:51 (twenty years ago)

yeah, it's nicola, sometimes.

N_RQ, Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:54 (twenty years ago)

there are non-blonde women in sweden too i think. i remember seeing some in the women's world cup qualifiers swedish team.

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 13 October 2005 09:58 (twenty years ago)

Those were the attractive ones, as I recall

Dadaismus (Dada), Thursday, 13 October 2005 10:00 (twenty years ago)

Very few of my Swedish friends are blonde, although the mannequins in Åhléns department store were.

Anni-Frid from Abba is half German, of course.

Tag (Tag), Thursday, 13 October 2005 10:15 (twenty years ago)

what the hell? i'd say it's roughly 50-50 between blondes and non blondes in sweden.

Lovelace (Lovelace), Thursday, 13 October 2005 10:19 (twenty years ago)

Wasn't Frida Out Of Abba the product of a NAZI EXPERIMENT IN COLOUR?

Marcello Carlin (nostudium), Thursday, 13 October 2005 10:22 (twenty years ago)

She was Norwegian into the bargain too!

Dadaismus (Dada), Thursday, 13 October 2005 10:24 (twenty years ago)

Despite being "Ginger", I got described as blond in Sweden. I didn't really like this.

Tag (Tag), Thursday, 13 October 2005 10:26 (twenty years ago)

Aaah, so the *real* reason they have so many blonde people in Sweden is: they just describe lots of other colours as blonde!

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Thursday, 13 October 2005 10:27 (twenty years ago)

Do they have blonde jokes in Sweden?

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Thursday, 13 October 2005 10:44 (twenty years ago)

(xpost)

I know. Cheating Viking bastards.

Tag (Tag), Thursday, 13 October 2005 10:44 (twenty years ago)

I have been told (by a Swede) that a great many swedish women bleach or highlight their hair and that it is only the children who are properly blonde.

Mädchen (Madchen), Thursday, 13 October 2005 10:46 (twenty years ago)

There certainly seem to be a lot more blonde teenagers there than older people.

My Finnish friend recently launched a massive drunken diatribe about "stupid snooty blonde Swedish girls" recently, in spite of her being blonde herself.

Tag (Tag), Thursday, 13 October 2005 10:48 (twenty years ago)

Sigh.

Paranoid Spice (kate), Thursday, 13 October 2005 10:51 (twenty years ago)

lol that was random

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 13 October 2005 10:53 (twenty years ago)

I think I saw a TV game show recently with Sarah Cracknell trying to get some junk out of a hotel room while being menaced by two jolly white sumo wrestlers. Is this possible?

k/l (Ken L), Thursday, 13 October 2005 13:40 (twenty years ago)

Not if they stand in the doorway.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Thursday, 13 October 2005 13:41 (twenty years ago)

is this takeshi's castle?

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 13 October 2005 13:43 (twenty years ago)

it is only the children who are properly blonde

As opposed to improperly.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 13 October 2005 13:45 (twenty years ago)

most swedish people i know dye their hair black, or went through a long phase of doing so. it looks VERY good with blue eyes and pale yet rosy-cheeked complexions.

k/l (Ken L), Thursday, 13 October 2005 14:11 (twenty years ago)
