Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Thursday, 23 January 2003 16:46 (twenty-three years ago)

Nick, you've been here a while. Have you not seen how beards are a running theme? ;-)

(Oh, and destroy it. Beards must go.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 23 January 2003 16:47 (twenty-three years ago)

It will win in the end.

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 23 January 2003 16:47 (twenty-three years ago)

I know they're a running theme (aren't they everywhere?), what I wanna know is should I grow one?

It's started to itch since I posted the question.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Thursday, 23 January 2003 16:59 (twenty-three years ago)

If you shave there will be trouble, if you grow there will be double.

Simeon (Simeon), Thursday, 23 January 2003 17:07 (twenty-three years ago)

GROW!

anthony easton (anthony), Thursday, 23 January 2003 18:12 (twenty-three years ago)

DO BOTH!

Graham (graham), Thursday, 23 January 2003 18:14 (twenty-three years ago)

After about a week it starts hurting as your face isn't used to having the hair on it, but the pain/irritation goes away after a month or two.
Keep it— there are no major world leaders with beards, and when the revolution comes, we won't be mistaken for them and be erroneously executed.

No One (SiggyBaby), Thursday, 23 January 2003 18:36 (twenty-three years ago)

Sometimes, on the right man, I think they're tres sexy

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 23 January 2003 18:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Shave the right and side and let the left grow. After a few weeks, you can decide which half you like best, and go that way all over your face.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 23 January 2003 19:04 (twenty-three years ago)

That's "right 'and side" of course...

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 23 January 2003 19:04 (twenty-three years ago)

Nick, if you don't have a reason to shave it off (complaining girlfriend, job interviews etc.), then grow it! If you're as curious as I am, then you'll at least want to see what it looks like. And you can reverse your decision in 5 minutes, whenever you want. Don't foget to take photos!

Compromise with a Goatee

brg30 (brg30), Thursday, 23 January 2003 20:13 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh, not a goat— that’s the 90s version of the 80s ponytail.

No One (SiggyBaby), Thursday, 23 January 2003 20:28 (twenty-three years ago)

It's not a real beard until you become its host. So, grow.

mark p (Mark P), Thursday, 23 January 2003 20:29 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't like beards but four days growth shouldn't warrant calling it a beard unless you're the offspring of a yeti. Your facial hair is probably at its most attractive (?) right now. Try to maintain today's look.

Now, should I get a drastic new haircut?

Lara (Lara), Thursday, 23 January 2003 20:51 (twenty-three years ago)

i bought clippers just so i wouldn't have to face this dilemma.

michael wells (michael w.), Thursday, 23 January 2003 21:06 (twenty-three years ago)

LET IT GROW!!!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 23 January 2003 21:23 (twenty-three years ago)

Apparently washing the beard hair with conditioner helps. I read this in an old Super Furry Animals interview, so it must be true. As far as growing the beard goes. Only do it if your willing to go for the mountain man look. Other wise attempt to grow a twirly moustache like what a Victorian cad would have. This may work even better with a top hat.

fractal (fractal), Friday, 24 January 2003 00:29 (twenty-three years ago)

If you do let it grow, don't trim it. Let it be free. for example this:

is better than this:

A Nairn (moretap), Friday, 24 January 2003 00:51 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah if you're gonna have a beard, make sure its a garth hudson type. stubble and short beards are quite awful to kiss.

di smith (lucylurex), Friday, 24 January 2003 00:56 (twenty-three years ago)

You must grown it like this within a week or consider yourself to be half the man you thought you were.

Ed (dali), Friday, 24 January 2003 14:35 (twenty-three years ago)

"Shave the right and side and let the left grow. After a few weeks, you can decide which half you like best"

Every year when we went on holiday my Dad would shave off half of his beard, come out of the bathroom and say - so which look do you like best, this side or this side? It wasn't even funny the first time...

smee (smee), Friday, 24 January 2003 14:40 (twenty-three years ago)

ARGH! Emma's seen the beard thread! Now she knows I've still not shaved!

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 24 January 2003 14:47 (twenty-three years ago)

one year passes...
I haven't shaved for a while now. My inaction is becoming compulsive.

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 4 February 2004 06:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Shave the right and side and let the left grow.

"I want the future NOW..."

jazz odysseus, Wednesday, 4 February 2004 06:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I've been growing for about 4 days now and secpifically itned not to shave for awhile. I figure: no immediate kissing prospects, razors cost money i could be spending on booze/etc., it is cold, why not grow the shit out? I'm kinda starting to feel a change in the wind and want to embrace the most hippyesque aspect sof my existenze. where better to start than teh facila hair?

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 4 February 2004 06:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I think my beard just celebrated its first birthday a couple weeks ago.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 4 February 2004 08:19 (twenty-two years ago)
