When was the coast clear in your life?

When you had nothing to worry about, no one was after you, you could go wherever or do whatever you wanted.

When I was 5?

Now. As long as I don't want to go to trekking through the Sahara for six months or something. But realistically, yeah, life is amazingly open-ended at the moment.

Never. I refuse to accept the common notion of childhood as a carefree time. We just can't compute childish cares anymore.

Of course there were moments when, well, there there were moments when.. I felt the coast was clear and life was folding in and out and around me like the excellent adventure it should be. Last time? Maybe coming out of 'Men in Coats' in Edinburgh last year. It wasn't just 'Men in Coats' - it was everything.

Next fall! I'm going to college. There will be stuff to worry about but it'll be a blank slate. I'm very excited.
