(FAP threads are excluded from the thread-a-day guideline obviously. Ahem.)

Did someone mention the John Snow?

Tom (Groke), Monday, 17 February 2003 13:36 (twenty-three years ago)

Champion it is. From 6-ish. Near the Glasshouse Stores. Tim will supply a Fancy-a-pint link.

I can't get there til 9pm though cos I have to go to school.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 17 February 2003 13:38 (twenty-three years ago)

Bugger. I have to go to school too (what do I go to school for?) and I don't finish until 9.30, so I'll have to give it a miss. Have fun!

Dr. C (Dr. C), Monday, 17 February 2003 13:43 (twenty-three years ago)

I might miss this one too.

Graham (graham), Monday, 17 February 2003 13:43 (twenty-three years ago)

Oi! What did your last link monkey die of?

Oh alright then. The Champion, famed for its delightful ales, its delightful stained glass and the fact it's always too empty or too full when I go there: http://www.fancyapint.com/thepubs/pub1035.htm

Tim (Tim), Monday, 17 February 2003 13:46 (twenty-three years ago)

i like that one

gareth (gareth), Monday, 17 February 2003 13:50 (twenty-three years ago)

mmm, good post-shopping pub, unfortunately I will have to miss it as I think I'll be working late then going obn to a birthday party.

chris (chris), Monday, 17 February 2003 13:52 (twenty-three years ago)

I like the look of that. Unfortunately I have a sneaking suspicion I'm finally coming down with this evil throat cold everyone's been getting, so I may give it a miss. Or hope that the two dovetail so that I can be ill and sleep off my hangover at the same time.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 17 February 2003 13:53 (twenty-three years ago)

should be there - i'm giving a talk until 6, so i'll doubtless be desperate for beer at that point.

toby (tsg20), Monday, 17 February 2003 13:55 (twenty-three years ago)

can anyone hook me up with some free marijuana

dave q, Monday, 17 February 2003 14:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I have the sniffles - I will stay home and play Bust A Move - I will give you all text message update on my progress.

Sarah (starry), Monday, 17 February 2003 14:40 (twenty-three years ago)

why not have it on Wednesday, to coincide with the Dublin FAP? we could send each other text messages, mad buzz.

DV (dirtyvicar), Monday, 17 February 2003 14:48 (twenty-three years ago)

I have the sniffles - I will stay home and play Bust A Move - I will give you all text message update on my progress

Liar, you will go to the pub and drink hot whisky.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 17 February 2003 14:49 (twenty-three years ago)

I may well be there, especially if I can finish work before 8.

Mark C (Mark C), Monday, 17 February 2003 15:04 (twenty-three years ago)

Ah, hell, why not?

Anna (Anna), Monday, 17 February 2003 15:48 (twenty-three years ago)

Dave yeah if you want to come to Dublin, I had a party on Saturday and by the free house constitution I claim any non clothing items which were left their for my own personal use, beer, marijuana, cds, cigarettes. So I'm pretty flush at the moment. It's the rules.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 17 February 2003 15:51 (twenty-three years ago)

Nooooo, am too stuffed up!

*cries for a blanket and hometime*

Sarah (starry), Monday, 17 February 2003 17:16 (twenty-three years ago)

Sorry for giving you my cold, Sarah. I shall go to the FAP though, mwahahha.

alix (alix), Monday, 17 February 2003 17:21 (twenty-three years ago)

I hope to get there after 8pm. I shld be able to help Dave Q out too.

Andrew L (Andrew L), Monday, 17 February 2003 18:42 (twenty-three years ago)

I'll be there early, like 6.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Monday, 17 February 2003 19:18 (twenty-three years ago)

Should be able to make it... Champions a good pub in an ok place.

Kyle, Monday, 17 February 2003 22:47 (twenty-three years ago)

It's gonna be a synchronicitous london - nyc fap, just like the war protests!

Mary (Mary), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 05:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Revive!

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 09:49 (twenty-three years ago)

it might be nice if you put the city you were FAPping in in the title of the thread, rather than assuming everyone lives in London.

DV (dirtyvicar), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 10:11 (twenty-three years ago)

The prerogative of being the birthplace of FAP is that London is the default setting, sorry DV.

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 10:21 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes, just as the UK doesn't have to write United Kingdom on its stamps.

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 10:30 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm definitely going to be there, but probably not til seven or so, as i'd better have a pint with maths people after my logic talk.

toby (tsg20), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 10:47 (twenty-three years ago)

Is anyone else getting there before 7? I can be there for 6, but I may as well do something else if no one else can make it early.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 11:14 (twenty-three years ago)

Bah.

DV (dirtyvicar), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 11:21 (twenty-three years ago)

I will be there before 7 Martin.

Tom (Groke), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 11:22 (twenty-three years ago)

i will be there before 9 martin

gareth (gareth), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 11:36 (twenty-three years ago)

I should be there before 7 too, although it will take me a while to get from Central London to the West End.

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 11:40 (twenty-three years ago)

Not now the congestion charge has magically cleared the roads for you.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 11:56 (twenty-three years ago)

can anyone hook me up with some free marijuana

Dave, you live close enough to me and Ed that I can recommend you repair to a certain red-fronted pub on Clerkenwell Road on any given Friday, where you will find couriers Doing Business from 6.30 onwards (I look out my living-room windows to see which business centres are in fact trading, then proceed downstairs with £20 for shopping which neither cheats nor disappoints me).

But I can't come to pub tonight, it's WORK and besides, tomorrow's my pick for going out on skool night.

suzy (suzy), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 12:16 (twenty-three years ago)

''Not now the congestion charge has magically cleared the roads for you''

heh...I'll try and make it if I'm not crushed to death on the tube.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 12:17 (twenty-three years ago)

Timm, it's only five minutes walk from central London (i.e. Centrepoint) to that pub.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 12:48 (twenty-three years ago)

I have just got off my final hour of work, so should be there by about 8.

Mark C (Mark C), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 12:55 (twenty-three years ago)

Should be there as soon as I have sold some records and been to Borders. Just after six I reckon, but don't pay any attention to that, I'm always late.

Anna (Anna), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 15:54 (twenty-three years ago)

anna should be there just after me then, 8:45 i reckon

gareth (gareth), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 15:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Feh, and you can talk about being late ...

Anna (Anna), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 16:03 (twenty-three years ago)

I should be there around eightish, possibly.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Tuesday, 18 February 2003 16:05 (twenty-three years ago)

ugh. i feel like death, and my contact lenses really aren't working (didn't leave them to soak long enough).

still, i had a great evening - hope i didn't make too much of a tit of myself. great to finally talk to mark c properly (sorry for taking the piss so much though).

mark s - i'm downloading those first 3 ubu albums (+ terminal tower) now.

is anyone else hungover?

toby (tsg20), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 10:15 (twenty-three years ago)

bum, how come i missed this. oh well i'm skint as one of those skint things til friday and i had nummy LAMB CHOPS for tea last nite so that makes up for it :)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 10:20 (twenty-three years ago)

''is anyone else hungover?''

no as I drank orange juice.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 10:21 (twenty-three years ago)

I feel tired but okay. There's an awful lot to be said for the Gareth tactic of turning up two hours late to FAPS.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 10:31 (twenty-three years ago)

i feel great!

gareth (gareth), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 10:46 (twenty-three years ago)

I feel lousy, not enough bouze last night and didn't speak to anyone. No more Tuesday Fap's.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 10:50 (twenty-three years ago)

wednesdays = number theory day of pain for me (lectures 12-6, basically), so i'd approve of a tuesday fap ban, too.

pete - sorry i didn't get to talk to you (not least cos i wanted to blather about cinema & logic); i kept meaning to come round to the other side but the conversation was just too funny to tear myself away from.

toby (tsg20), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 11:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Are you saying Pete isn't funny? I'm disappointed.

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 11:16 (twenty-three years ago)

No disrespect to Pete, but I don't think there are many things funnier than the conversation round that table last night.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 11:23 (twenty-three years ago)

They mean funny peculiar. He was talking to Mark C after all. I only got there at 9:45 after a long Egyptian film.

Hell, we'll probably get another Karaoke in the next couple of weeks Toby.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 11:24 (twenty-three years ago)

Ok then. Pete's comic value reinstated. Whoot!

So... what was going on that was so peculiar?

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 11:26 (twenty-three years ago)

There were revelations so personal that even M. Skidmore was shocked. It is hardly my place to publish them to the world, now is it?

Tim (Tim), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 11:28 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes it is!

smee (smee), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 11:29 (twenty-three years ago)

Let's be having them.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 11:30 (twenty-three years ago)

I think in the interest of *my curiosity* you should reveal all.

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 11:30 (twenty-three years ago)

um, I was on the other table.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 11:34 (twenty-three years ago)

Liar.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 11:35 (twenty-three years ago)

well, I switched tables half way through so i could talk to the other ppl present. by the time I left Tim and martin were talking.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 11:39 (twenty-three years ago)

i think we should just draw a veil over proceedings.

toby (tsg20), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 11:40 (twenty-three years ago)

or a tarpaulin

Tim (Tim), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 11:44 (twenty-three years ago)

WHAT PROCEEDINGS???

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 11:44 (twenty-three years ago)

Relax. Tim's just telling porkies.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 11:45 (twenty-three years ago)

I'll resort to using Bill Murray's deathless line from 'Caddyshack' as usual - "I was unavoidably detained"

dave q, Wednesday, 19 February 2003 11:46 (twenty-three years ago)

I am bringing a donkey along to the Dublin FAP.

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 11:48 (twenty-three years ago)

**There were revelations so personal that even M. Skidmore was shocked**

Shocked = 'surprised' OR Shocked = 'f@ckin hell, that's gross'?

Which?

Dr. C (Dr. C), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 12:20 (twenty-three years ago)

I heard he started crying, bemoaning the future of humanity beteeen sobs based on what he just learned.

Or I could be trolling for news.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 12:53 (twenty-three years ago)

I've only just woken up.

Graham (graham), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 12:57 (twenty-three years ago)

I was working, you bastards

chris (chris), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 13:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Ha ha I left earlier to get some reading done and I drank orange juice I feel fine ha ha ha. I have however, just endured over 3 hrs of a forensic linguistics lecture so, not all great.

alix (alix), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 13:49 (twenty-three years ago)

There were revelations so personal that even M. Skidmore was shocked

Not so much shocked as almost crying with laughter at times. I don't think I will break any confidences or betray anyone if I quote one fantastic sentence without saying who said it. You can imagine the rest for yourselves (though you'll be wrong): "The pig sex was just a side effect."

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 18:01 (twenty-three years ago)

Next time, record these conversations and share.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 18:05 (twenty-three years ago)

I want a transcript!

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 18:05 (twenty-three years ago)

I had a nice bit of skunk in my wallet all ready for Dave Q, too.

Afterwards I enjoyed a nice walk to Charing X w/ the Pinefox - the only awkward moment came when I admitted I was a Gooner - I thought he was going to push me in the road!

Andrew L (Andrew L), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 22:03 (twenty-three years ago)
