jess (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 16:39 (twenty-three years ago)

(this is the thread where you talk about the subject header. i don't really care, i just wanted to post that.)

jess (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 16:39 (twenty-three years ago)

J. Lu roxors. All you Dismemberment Plan fans flying in for the final show will realize this (if you haven't already, and if you have, rah!).

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 16:41 (twenty-three years ago)

Alex in NYC gets way more shit than he deserves. He's funny and has genuine convictions (which seem to be no-nos at times around here). Sometimes I'm convinced that he's upping the vitriol factor by 10 just to annoy more people, which would be great if it were true. There's a lot of Alex in all of us, but we all suppress it! Embrace yr inner Alex!!!

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 16:42 (twenty-three years ago)

Haha

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 16:42 (twenty-three years ago)

that's a frightening thought yancey.

but still, alex is OK.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 16:45 (twenty-three years ago)

I would like to say hurrah for all of the great Nicks on this board in their many forms. Any idea how many there are?

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 16:48 (twenty-three years ago)

Counting both Nicks and Nic(h)oles? Nickalicious, Nick Mirov, Nick Currie aka Momus, Nichole Graham, Nicole...all good folks. (And since I haven't said it before about Nickalicious, while I initially thought he was a bit of a random character on ILM, realizing that here's a guy who not only pursues what he loves with a passion but does so while raising a son -- and still being only 24 -- means he gets and deserves major respect.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 16:50 (twenty-three years ago)

there's a lot of marks & alexes too it seems, and a few seans

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 16:51 (twenty-three years ago)

I reckon everyone likes Alex don't they? I know I do. Surely for this to be underrated ILXers one person has to say they like a poster then ten have to say "no not him".

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 16:51 (twenty-three years ago)

Or her. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 16:52 (twenty-three years ago)

Alex In NYC is great. It's like reading Che's Bolivian diaries, watching him post. He's easily in the top 5 ILXers at the moment.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 16:52 (twenty-three years ago)

15:
nick.K, Momus, Nick, NICKELATTI, N., nickie, Nick Mirov, nickn, Nick A., Nick Harte, Nick Southall,. nick ring, Nick W, nickalicious, Nick Kaufmann.

Graham (graham), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 16:53 (twenty-three years ago)

paul scifi soul
michael wells
aaron grossman

piscesboy
writes interestingly

thatgirl in dallas

and geeta is underrated herself!

nick southall

and, where is emily chemistry experiment these days?

gareth (gareth), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 16:54 (twenty-three years ago)

Alex in NYC is very likeable and his patience is saintly. He's always wrong about everything musical but that doesn't really matter, does it?

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 16:55 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't know Alex from NY very well, but I like Alex from Houston.
http://us.f1.yahoofs.com/groups/alexmcleod//Yahoo!+Photo+Album/009.jpg?gr0jVO.ALwfSvbMw

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 16:55 (twenty-three years ago)

No, plus today he called me a "fatuous cheese eater".

Dom himself is always consistent in his hatred of Busted etc, I don't underrate that, not on ILM, no way.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 16:56 (twenty-three years ago)

I second J. Lu. At times, she is the voiec of reason on a thread, answering the factual questions that others are ignoring.
I like all of the ILXORS I have met besides J. Lu as well (some of them get their dues): Gareth, Mary (NYC), Geeta.
Ronan is cool too, but I think he gets his "props" and, if he doesn't, props to Ronan.
Also, jel makes me laugh.
Erik posts dope pictures. Thanks to him and everyone else who keep ***Arbitrary Thread Alert*** going.

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 16:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes, I love Erik's pix.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 16:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Looking at the top 50 posters Sarah Tigers-R-Us (or whatever her email is) stands out as someone who posts a lot of not-dumb stuff but never really gets attention for it.

(Haha there she is!)

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 16:59 (twenty-three years ago)

The genuinely underrated posters will not be mentioned in this thread.

Andrew (enneff), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 16:59 (twenty-three years ago)

I heart Marcello. I think a lot of people do one way or another, but the hataz tend to be louder.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:01 (twenty-three years ago)

Aaron G should post more and also use AIM more! plur!

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:01 (twenty-three years ago)

But where are the listings of, er, 'rated' posters? Or overrated posters for that matter? This thread has obv. Turned into the former. But as soon as they are mentioned, they cease to be underrated. If you see what I mean. Er...

Dave B (daveb), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:02 (twenty-three years ago)

i dig the lurkers. hail lurkers! you are wiser than i.

g-kit (g-kit), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:02 (twenty-three years ago)

What about the people who don't get on the "best ILXers" threads AND ALSO DON'T GET A BIG UP HERE?!? Yes, I am thinking of me. *sobs*

But for what it's worth, mattdc is pretty cool. Is he underrated? Doesn't matter, he deserves props. McLusky and J.Lu too are pretty wicked.

Mark C (Mark C), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Mark C is k underrated, he should be on a Best ILXers thread really....

smee (smee), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:04 (twenty-three years ago)

Mark S and Tom are over-rated, they are merely pseuds.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:05 (twenty-three years ago)

can I just add that this is a good idea for a thread, Jess, and TIMELY!

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:05 (twenty-three years ago)

haha whoops

jess (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:06 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm underrated, even though I never have anything good to contribute or say.

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:06 (twenty-three years ago)

Nonsense, Chris. Yer cool. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:08 (twenty-three years ago)

Chris you are lying, at least about the latter part!

Jess: shame on you for doing a thread like this just when everyone needed it ;-)

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:08 (twenty-three years ago)

I know, i was looking for sympathy. hehe.

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:08 (twenty-three years ago)

Qoolout, H 3 K, et al.

felicity (felicity), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:09 (twenty-three years ago)

Those folks will live forever.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:10 (twenty-three years ago)

Chris, I swear I just mentioned you on a best of ILX thread in the past day or so...! You make me crack up.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:11 (twenty-three years ago)

hunta d!

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:12 (twenty-three years ago)

i kinda miss gale too but she was pretty highly rated in her day

Fritz Wollner (Fritz), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:13 (twenty-three years ago)

big dappa!

and yeah, gale got much love

jess (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:14 (twenty-three years ago)

stevo is under-rated...props to him just cos its another steve - are there really only two of us?

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:15 (twenty-three years ago)

sean carruthers (I think)

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:16 (twenty-three years ago)

Anna, Andrew F, stevem

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:16 (twenty-three years ago)

toby

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:19 (twenty-three years ago)

Although both Tim H and Martin Skidmore a are pretty high profile round here they never seem to get sufficiently bigged up for the voices of reason that they are.

I shall reciprocate with Mark C, plus Dave Boyle, Siegbran and Miss Laura.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:24 (twenty-three years ago)

andrew L

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:24 (twenty-three years ago)

thanks gareth, props at last. although i would like to know which fuxors underrate me.

michael wells (michael w.), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:26 (twenty-three years ago)

I put "does not like Agoria" on your report card so I guess that's me.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:27 (twenty-three years ago)

Sean C, yes! And Mary, she's lovely.

Mark C (Mark C), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:29 (twenty-three years ago)

thanks Ronan, i can now say i am over-rated

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:29 (twenty-three years ago)

if you're an american and you're sitting in a "pub" you deserve to be rated

goato mountington (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 9 November 2003 16:15 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm not in america

amateur!st (amateurist), Sunday, 9 November 2003 16:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I like to be in A-merica!Okay by me in A-merica!Everything free in A-merica For a small fee in A-merica

Vic (Vic), Sunday, 9 November 2003 16:18 (twenty-two years ago)

i mean no one i hang out with her calls them "bars," i've just gotten used to calling them "pubs"

amateur!st (amateurist), Sunday, 9 November 2003 16:19 (twenty-two years ago)

''i mean do people sit around in pubs with their friends rating each other, or suggesting who is underrated? it's weird.''

now lemme tell ya abt this thing called life... ;)

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 9 November 2003 17:07 (twenty-two years ago)

now take julio here, on my right. there's an underrated chap. why just the other day my friend david was listing his favorite people and i asked him, "david, haven't you forgotten julio?" and he said, "why yes, i always underrate that julio." and i said, "that's all too common."

amateur!st (amateurist), Sunday, 9 November 2003 17:11 (twenty-two years ago)

another round?

amateur!st (amateurist), Sunday, 9 November 2003 17:11 (twenty-two years ago)

:-)

amateur!st (amateurist), Sunday, 9 November 2003 17:12 (twenty-two years ago)

this isn't a pub

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 9 November 2003 17:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I finally made it :-)

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 9 November 2003 17:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Vic I'm pretty sure I was referring to some other thread that day, I shoulda used blue writing!

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Sunday, 9 November 2003 17:25 (twenty-two years ago)

The thing is I'm not sure how to answer this thread because:

a) Am I saying that I personally under-rate the posters I mention?
b) Thinking that people are under-rated in comparison to others just re-inforces the ILX hegemony. I don't think I can do that.
c) I'm just being silly
d) Ignore this post

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 9 November 2003 17:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I haven't read the thread, but at least "underrated" is usually a pretty nice thing to say about something, and very well could brighten someone's day.

Eric H. (Eric H.), Sunday, 9 November 2003 17:55 (twenty-two years ago)

that's true but it makes people sound like brands of cheese sort of

amateur!st (amateurist), Sunday, 9 November 2003 18:04 (twenty-two years ago)

although cheese is nice

amateur!st (amateurist), Sunday, 9 November 2003 18:05 (twenty-two years ago)

underrated= doesn't post a lot but when he/she does they say something you like reading.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 9 November 2003 18:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I've never met a cheese I thought was underrated. :)

Eric H. (Eric H.), Sunday, 9 November 2003 18:09 (twenty-two years ago)

so an underrated director is somebody who rarely makes a film but you enjoy the ones they do? I don't think so.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 9 November 2003 18:10 (twenty-two years ago)

It's nice to be mentioned on threads, and to know people think you are okay. That's cool, but I don't think I'll ever make a list.

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 9 November 2003 18:14 (twenty-two years ago)

not the same thing anthony.

when the q was asked, that's what i thought it meant.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 9 November 2003 18:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey Tracer, thanks for naming me as underrated--I've always thought I was invisible 'round here...

cybele (cybele), Sunday, 9 November 2003 19:28 (twenty-two years ago)

you ain't!

s1utsky (slutsky), Sunday, 9 November 2003 19:55 (twenty-two years ago)

I would think that an underrated ILx0r would be someone who isn't usually called to thread, told how OTM they are, listed in popularity threads, or otherwise name-checked, but who is nonetheless a swell and interesting person who you like reading. Either that or someone who has an undeservedly bad rep, I guess.

jaymc (jaymc), Sunday, 9 November 2003 19:56 (twenty-two years ago)

otm Jaymc. (though I guess that means I can't call you overrated)

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 9 November 2003 19:58 (twenty-two years ago)

Man, every time I want to include an addendum, it turns into a x-post:

(In other words, I think there are some relatively frequent posters who are nonetheless underrated because nobody goes on about them.)

jaymc (jaymc), Sunday, 9 November 2003 19:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Anthony, do you mean underrated, or are you making a joke that's lost on me?

jaymc (jaymc), Sunday, 9 November 2003 20:00 (twenty-two years ago)

jaymc it is time to announce your crush on the amazing randy

amateur!st (amateurist), Sunday, 9 November 2003 20:01 (twenty-two years ago)

WOOOPS. sorry no I mean "underrated." goddamn, this is what happens when I type too fast. Sorry, jaymc!

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Sunday, 9 November 2003 20:02 (twenty-two years ago)

why'd u do it, @d@ml, why ?

hehehehehehe! (Agent Smith)

Why? WHY? Hohohohohohohahahahahabwaha!!!

http://www.amexwtc.com/products/automotive/bendix_automotive/sparks.gif

@d@ml (nordicskilla), Sunday, 9 November 2003 20:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Pablo Cruise (chaki), Sunday, 9 November 2003 22:56 (twenty-two years ago)

everybody realizes it!

cinniblount (James Blount), Sunday, 9 November 2003 22:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I think I'm quite overrated.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Sunday, 9 November 2003 23:00 (twenty-two years ago)

has there ever been an overrated ilxers thread? i'm forgetting, but there should def be one

Vic (Vic), Sunday, 9 November 2003 23:06 (twenty-two years ago)

how about an "overrated thread ideas" thread?

Annouschka (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 9 November 2003 23:22 (twenty-two years ago)

start it up, yo.

Jay Dee Sah Mon (Kingfish), Sunday, 9 November 2003 23:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Jel, you're a cool cat. :)

I don't think Julia gets mentioned enough, honestly. Or enough responses or feedback. Trayce is a bit similar, I would feel. I love both these chicas and I think they should be spotlighted more, especially since they are two individuals who have worked hard to make sure I feel comfortable here. Thank you, honeys.

Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Monday, 10 November 2003 03:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Aw thanks Dee! :)

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 10 November 2003 03:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Dee, you're sweet. Thanks.

JuliaA (j_bdules), Monday, 10 November 2003 05:32 (twenty-two years ago)

ok-minna (minna), Monday, 10 November 2003 13:12 (twenty-two years ago)

five years pass...

William Bloody Swygart

thank you, flipper, for nickelback (country matters), Saturday, 11 July 2009 11:53 (sixteen years ago)

^^^ Always on point.

Monty Panesar's Failing Circuits (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 11 July 2009 11:55 (sixteen years ago)

I want all sports news ever reported by him, except for news about Portsmouth FC, which is obviously to be reported by DJ Martian

Repeat with "pop" and "Snore Patrol"

thank you, flipper, for nickelback (country matters), Saturday, 11 July 2009 11:57 (sixteen years ago)

Swygart and Martian one of the all-time great ILX double-acts in my opinion. The thread where they liveblogged the Festive 50 while working in pops at each other's football clubs is top stuff.

Matt DC, Saturday, 11 July 2009 12:52 (sixteen years ago)

carne asada is underrated imo

rip dom passantino 3/5/09 never forget (max), Saturday, 11 July 2009 12:52 (sixteen years ago)

Has Martian ever officially confirmed or denied being The Cunt with the Bell?

Monty Panesar's Failing Circuits (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 11 July 2009 12:53 (sixteen years ago)

the stickman from the hilarious something-something

Mr. Snrub, Saturday, 11 July 2009 15:15 (sixteen years ago)

Er. Silly thread title. Each of us rates other ilxors according to the dictates of our own hearts and this rating is rarely far wrong within that context.

Thread shd be called, "I feel like giving huzzahs to all these ilxors" or something.

Aimless, Saturday, 11 July 2009 17:43 (sixteen years ago)

u should go back in time and stop it

dr. morb's adventures beyond the ultraworld (s1ocki), Saturday, 11 July 2009 17:46 (sixteen years ago)

A man, a plan, a canard: Aimless!

Aimless, Saturday, 11 July 2009 17:52 (sixteen years ago)
