Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:28 (twenty-three years ago)

What is "sexual grooming?"

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:32 (twenty-three years ago)

clearly the Government hate fun (good call on the paedophiles tho obv.)

have you ever caught a couple doing it in a public place?

call me a perv but i'd quite like to accidentally come across them accidentally (oh stephen, stop you're killing them)

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:34 (twenty-three years ago)

Jaysus the Edge! That's given me the fear!

Sarah (starry), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:36 (twenty-three years ago)

As a friend pointed out to me - banning necrophilia. Why? Not morally (though hey, victimless crime innit?) but legislatively. Is there a lobby who've been pushing for this? The United Society of Cemetery Keepers or something.

I'm just trying to imagine a scene in the Home Office with someone saying to Blunkett 'we'll have to take strong action about the corpse fuckers, sir. There's been a few demos, three leader columns and a sit-in. We have to be seen to act.'

i like that sex in a cubicle is alright if the door is shut. phew

Alan (Alan), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:43 (twenty-three years ago)

between this and that new entertainments license
caper, i'm inclined to agree that yes this government hates
fun.
have they nothing better to do ?
six months eh ?

closest i came was v recently though -
right by victoria station in laaaarndun last october.
in that pedestrianised shopping bit.
there were cameras everywhere the man said
when he collared us.
he'd been watchin for a while.

i wonder what's classed as sex though ?
specifically i mean.

A couple had it off in front of my window at work a couple of weeks ago.

Up against the rubbish skip - nice.

The way they kept their rucksacks on was kinda charming.

Mooro (Mooro), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:49 (twenty-three years ago)

What the fuck. People having sex in public should be encouraged. What possible arguments are there against this?!

Andrew (enneff), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:51 (twenty-three years ago)

So technically my wife can go to prison for life because she has sex with me and I have panic disorder?

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:52 (twenty-three years ago)

The Government's new Sexual Offences Bill said someone who "knows or is reckless" about whether they will be seen having sex is guilty of an offence.
Private homes are exempt from the new law, so that having sex in a private garden which can be seen from the street would be a crime, while performing the same acts in a bedroom with the curtains open would not.

a couple therefore could open their curtains in the daytime have rampant sex in their home [if they are exhibitionists/perverts] - with passers by glancing in [and it seems they would not be breaking the law] what happens if their house is a near school?

Absolutely bizarre, there is a no logical to some of these laws.

DJ Martian (djmartian), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:55 (twenty-three years ago)

course, erm...heterosexual up-the-a*se is still illegal.

piscesboy, Wednesday, 29 January 2003 17:59 (twenty-three years ago)

wrong, picesboy that was made legal a few years back.

DJ Martian (djmartian), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 18:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I wonder how far you have to go for it to constitute sex? Just anything with genitals out?

nabisco (nabisco), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 18:00 (twenty-three years ago)

the funniest thing is that its always the excuse 'to protect children' that gets used first....protect them from what exactly?

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 18:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I think "sexual grooming" is when you rub your own nipples while combing your hair.

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 18:01 (twenty-three years ago)

HOLY SMOKES THE KIDS MIGHT LEARN THAT BOYS PUT THEIR THINGS IN THE GIRLS THINGS AND OH MY GOD OH MY!!!! ARARRRGHHH!!!

Andrew (enneff), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 18:03 (twenty-three years ago)

Help me out here. Does this mean that the statutory rape age in he UK is 12? That can't be. Canada's is 14 and people can't believe that. 6 months for having sex in a visible spot is completely insane, although I shouldn't say anything being ignorant of the law here.

Bryan (Bryan), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 18:34 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm all for sex outside (and inside, too - don't want to be discriminatory). One of my first sexual experiences (age 14, with a man in his 30's that I'd convinced I was really 19) took place at a music festival - on the ground, outside his tent, with all of these people stumbling by in the middle of the night - we had to keep freezing when we heard someone (literally) tripping by. Quite a thrill to think of being discovered.

I'm Passing Open Windows (Ms Laura), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 18:53 (twenty-three years ago)

just out of interest, did it ever concern you that the guy couldve been arrested and imprisoned for having sex with a minor? do you think he REALLY believed you were 19? if the answer to both questions is Yes, then fair enough...

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 19:07 (twenty-three years ago)

i actually caught someone watching me and my girlfriend (at the time) in a park once. i didn't aprove but the girlfriend was fine with it. i suppose we'd have been in trouble if the guy wasn't a perv and decided to call the man on us. yay pervies!

dyson (dyson), Wednesday, 29 January 2003 19:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Steve, at the time I wasn't really thinking in terms of it being illegal - I was just tickled that he believed me that I was older (that pretty much having been my goal since hitting puberty) and was treating me as such. In retrospect, yeah, it is kind of scary to think about - after all, I think I pretty much seduced him (though he was a willing victim). It's disturbing when think back on my teenage years just how predatory and scheming I was - not a very pleasant person, I don't think. And yes, I do think that he really thought I was 19 - we got together later that same year and went clubbing - I was never carded, so I looked 19, or close to that.
