Controversy: Classic Or Dud?

Are we too soft and uncontroversial on ILE? Is playing Devil's Advocate (or method-acting it or just BEING it) a good thing? How could we accomodate radically counter-consensus opinions without becoming some awful typical flamey web forum?

It's fun, except relating to abortion, in which case it is bloody, vicious, and impossible.

Sometimes I have trouble keeping my opinion of people separate from my opinion of their convictions. I don't know if this is good or bad.

I can think of no reply to your question but just wanted to say this. A Stroke walked past me in a shop today and I didn't hit him! (Not that I'd be capable anyway, but...) This should be fairly controversial judging by the opinion of them people seem to have round here...
