what are yr personal taste tests that all prospective beaus n' hoes have to pass? a friend of mine happens to leave some david shrigley books around the house when a girl arrives, sometimes he plays the NERD cd (original not concessionary live version). i fully agree with both these parameters

I thought this advert was going to mention the "Laughing Cow" double dippers.

"If you wanna be hip you gotta do the double dip"

"Woah I'm seeing double"!

As for yr question, pulse, breathing, that kind of thing.

I hope your friend is bitter and lonely. For fuck's sake.

Mark C (Mark C), Thursday, 30 January 2003 10:38 (twenty-three years ago)

But, nice shoes. U+K.

Mark C (Mark C), Thursday, 30 January 2003 10:39 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh god, not the shoe thing. I had a mate who judged all men by their shoes, he could be charming, intelligent, kind, caring and a stunner but if his shoes weren't right he went on the reject pile. But if Mr Insentivity Ugly Mug had the right shoes on he was well in there - bizarre!

smee (smee), Thursday, 30 January 2003 10:42 (twenty-three years ago)

Well, shoes are the window to one's sole after all.... I'M SORRY OK.

I never had any taste tests. I doubt Matt would have passed any if I had had.

(Are there too many hads in the above? Oh well.)

I always though it was the Truffle Shuffle btw (assuming this is a Goonies reference), you know coz pigs sniff out truffles and the wee dance makes him look like a pig? Of course I haven't seen it for a while so I'm probably completely wrong!

smee (smee), Thursday, 30 January 2003 10:54 (twenty-three years ago)

An easy way around this is to be a GOTH like me, they appear to have no standards apart from "wear some black clothes".

Sarah (starry), Thursday, 30 January 2003 10:59 (twenty-three years ago)

haha no said friend is very pretty... i don't think it's too much to ask i mean it's not cast in iron or anything but if someone doesn't get certain emblematic things then a relationship is doomed anyway. imagine: "cheap production, bad singing", "childish drawings", lady if you have to ask... looking at it that way mark c it's an act of heartwarming courtesy! he could've just fucked her!

zemko (bob), Thursday, 30 January 2003 11:01 (twenty-three years ago)

aw i just thought chuffle was an excellent word for flab

zemko (bob), Thursday, 30 January 2003 11:03 (twenty-three years ago)

surely shoes just = taste in clothes? if a guy wore an ellesse tracksuit and john lobb shoes...

zemko (bob), Thursday, 30 January 2003 11:10 (twenty-three years ago)

She had very particular taste in shoes, didn't really matter what he wore as long as the shoes were right.

zemko - chuffle=flab, brilliant!

smee (smee), Thursday, 30 January 2003 11:13 (twenty-three years ago)

on a similar tip: "pedigree chum" now known simply as pedigree... isn't chum an excellent word for random compacted still slightly chunky meat?

zemko (bob), Thursday, 30 January 2003 11:18 (twenty-three years ago)

Possibly but (the thought of) dog food makes me puke so I'm not getting into that one!

smee (smee), Thursday, 30 January 2003 11:24 (twenty-three years ago)

Okay, let's reclassify. If I like someone, *and* they're wearing rad shoes, then it helps consolidate my feelings. They'd have to be wearing pretty awful shoes for it to make a big difference.

I just like nice shoes! Mary Janes, mmmmm.

I thought there was some sort of fish called chum.

j.lu (j.lu), Thursday, 30 January 2003 19:18 (twenty-three years ago)

chum = meat used to bait game fish, shark, etc.

David Shrigley books: classic, definitely, but I wouldn't reject someone out of hand if they didn't enjoy them. As Mark C says, nice shoes are U+K.

I can't imagine having such things - not individual specific things anyway, though the more differences the more difficulties, maybe.
