They just replaced an old sign in my department with a new crooked one. Hooray!

I can only see one sign from my desk. It hangs dangerously over the door and says:

VOICE MAIL: ARE YOU SWITCHED ON YET?

and are you?

Ed (dali), Thursday, 30 January 2003 14:58 (twenty-three years ago)

It's only for the attention of Voice mail. So, no.

The Auckland University Library sign is supposed to have cost $500,000. It certainly says "Library", though.

We had nice large signs that everyone could read, but then the signage committee decided they should be torn down (leaving ugly marks on the wall) and replaced with smaller signs no one can see from more than a few feet away.

When I google my name, in the results are the Library Users Committee Signage Working Group at Lancaster University. How dull dull dull dull.

Ah, our signs. And do our patrons turn off their damn cell phones even with them up?

Just spotted another sign: FIRE EXIT, sitting on the floor next to the photocopier.

Years ago in my neighborhood library the elevator had a no smoking sign, the text of which was enclosed in quotation marks. I always wondered if the intention was to say "smoking's not really illegal here."

I only have one sign in my office. It's a flier above my desk for a free lunch from the neighboring office on the 13th.
