I'm new around here but...

It seems the thing to do in order to be an ILE poster recently is to talk about:

me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me me and sometimes my pseudo-celebrity internet status.

Not knocking anyone, it just seems like the trend around here lately.

Christopher (Christopher), Thursday, 30 January 2003 15:47 (twenty-three years ago)

You forgot scatological wrongness.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 30 January 2003 15:48 (twenty-three years ago)

Christopher is king!

It's ok. Give in. Tell us about you you you you. :)

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 30 January 2003 15:49 (twenty-three years ago)

And kittens and snow.

Lara (Lara), Thursday, 30 January 2003 15:49 (twenty-three years ago)

And tea and coffee.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 30 January 2003 15:50 (twenty-three years ago)

And me and me.

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 30 January 2003 15:50 (twenty-three years ago)

lets hear about christopher!

which city you in?

gareth (gareth), Thursday, 30 January 2003 15:51 (twenty-three years ago)

What is "pseudo-celebrity internet status" and can we eat it?

Hiya Christopher!

smee (smee), Thursday, 30 January 2003 15:52 (twenty-three years ago)

Howdy!

Chris V. (Chris V), Thursday, 30 January 2003 15:52 (twenty-three years ago)

Christopher is completely right. It seems that there is little interaction between people in threads lately, just self-serving one-liners and narcissism in general. It's frustrating and can be annoying. That's how I've been seeing it, anyway.

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Thursday, 30 January 2003 15:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Basically, the entire board is turning into me.

(Feel the meta-humor!)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 30 January 2003 16:02 (twenty-three years ago)

Apart from some of the political threads, they've been good recently.

I've said it before and I'll say it again its the cold that's doing it.

Ed (dali), Thursday, 30 January 2003 16:02 (twenty-three years ago)

Hi, Christopher.

Ed (dali), Thursday, 30 January 2003 16:03 (twenty-three years ago)

I understand drawing off of personal experience to answer a question or pose an opinion, but the interaction level has really fallen.

And to answer the questions, I'm a boy, I'm 27, and I'm in St. Louis, MO.

Christopher (Christopher), Thursday, 30 January 2003 16:04 (twenty-three years ago)

I already posted about this on the Denise Lambert Vs Becky Lucas thread, I think there is interaction but I think there're also posters who don't want to interact anyway, and I guess it suits them.

And welcome to Christopher!

Ronan (Ronan), Thursday, 30 January 2003 16:04 (twenty-three years ago)

Agreed, Ronan.

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Thursday, 30 January 2003 16:05 (twenty-three years ago)

bnw is in st louis i think, tho he is moving back to nyc. i think thats right anyway.

gareth (gareth), Thursday, 30 January 2003 16:07 (twenty-three years ago)

hi chris.

RJG (RJG), Thursday, 30 January 2003 16:07 (twenty-three years ago)

I think it's been interesting lately. It's always as Christopher and Yancey say, though, and there are certainly some (sticks hand up) who could do with thinking a little harder about why they're sending a particular post. But welcome anyway!

Mark C (Mark C), Thursday, 30 January 2003 16:07 (twenty-three years ago)

RJG had we not decided that your job was to tell all newbies to f*ck off? You're fired!

smee (smee), Thursday, 30 January 2003 16:09 (twenty-three years ago)

(no offence to Christopher, I don't me YOU should or anything!)

smee (smee), Thursday, 30 January 2003 16:09 (twenty-three years ago)

I prefer interaction, but sometimes I get the feeling that, for whatever, reason, I can't participate in a thread, even though I have something to say. I end up posting, but not helping. I am trying to be more careful. Anyways, lets all have a nice chat here instead.

Yanc3y, you are from virginia if i remember correctly? NExt time you are down here, post something so we can have a FAP. We really need to have another DC-area FAP, so if there is anyone else who visits this area, I am now asking them kindly to speak up at some point in the future. ;-)

Also, Chris, hello and how are you?

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Thursday, 30 January 2003 16:11 (twenty-three years ago)

I didn't mean to sound like a sourpuss with my first message. Of course part of the point of ILX is to have fun and that sort of thing is fun to do and, at times, is fun to read. I've just been getting blinded by reading strings of posts that never really go anywhere. I dunno, maybe I'm just feeling bitchy. Sorry.

(Aaron, yeah I grew up and went to college in VA but now live in NYC. There's a possibility I could go down for a FAP-type thing, but NYC sucks you in and won't let go...)

Yanc3y (ystrickler), Thursday, 30 January 2003 16:20 (twenty-three years ago)

I live about an hour and a half away from DC, and I know Yanc3y from collidge, so I'd like to come up too.

Nick A. (Nick A.), Thursday, 30 January 2003 16:21 (twenty-three years ago)

we must put something together in the future. I will start a thread sometime in the next week.

Aaron Grossman (aajjgg), Thursday, 30 January 2003 16:22 (twenty-three years ago)

I know you all hate me!

::flounces off::

Uh, welcome, Christopher.

kate, Thursday, 30 January 2003 16:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Kate! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Come baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 30 January 2003 16:38 (twenty-three years ago)

bnw is coming back to NYC???

Hello and welcome, Christopher!

rosemary (rosemary), Thursday, 30 January 2003 16:48 (twenty-three years ago)

A new person, rah! Welcome. :-) I can actually speaking more than one line at a time, trust me.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 30 January 2003 17:31 (twenty-three years ago)

hi Christopher!

gareth, since when??? No fair teasing.

felicity (felicity), Thursday, 30 January 2003 17:34 (twenty-three years ago)

rosemary/felicity, maybe he isnt then. i mean, i wouldnt know really would i? but i had just got that impression from ilx. i think i got the wrong end of the stick. sorry:(

gareth (gareth), Thursday, 30 January 2003 17:36 (twenty-three years ago)

hello christopher!

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 30 January 2003 18:04 (twenty-three years ago)

Kate, please come back. We do love you, but the point of this thread is to welcome the newbie. Hi, Christopher!

Is Hanle y in St. Louis? (I could be wrong. I also remember him talking about moving to Boston, but I could be wrong about that too.)

j.lu (j.lu), Thursday, 30 January 2003 18:34 (twenty-three years ago)

Hello Christopher!

I'm Passing Open Windows (Ms Laura), Thursday, 30 January 2003 19:37 (twenty-three years ago)

Hanle y was moving to Portland, Maine?

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 30 January 2003 19:49 (twenty-three years ago)

What else is there to talk about?Surely everybody's specialist subject is...themselves!

hi Chris.Don't worry, mate. It's great here once you get to know everyone. That's what I was told to say, anyway. It was either that or the puppy gets it.

I started a thread discussing cars with fellow petrolheads(or gearheads,I think you guys call them)but it seemed to turn into a discussion on my name and where it had been seen written on walls.See,you try to yarn about a general subject, but it STILL ends up sounding like me,me,me!

Don't fight it.........

Eugene Speed (Eugene Speed), Thursday, 30 January 2003 19:55 (twenty-three years ago)

frickin' st. louis

g (graysonlane), Thursday, 30 January 2003 20:16 (twenty-three years ago)

It seems that there is little interaction between people in threads lately, just self-serving one-liners

My communitarian one-liner project is still in beta testing.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 30 January 2003 21:18 (twenty-three years ago)

It's all i'm good at tho!

g (graysonlane), Thursday, 30 January 2003 21:26 (twenty-three years ago)

See for us humble midwesterners talking about yourself constantly is considered rude. Unless you are Nelly.

Rumors of me moving back to nyc are greatly exaggerated. At least until the summer. (hanle y is in Kansay Cit y I think. )

Welcome Chris. A lot of people here think living in Missouri means you own a cow and some chickens. Try not to be offended.

bnw (bnw), Friday, 31 January 2003 01:40 (twenty-three years ago)

"NYC sucks you in and won't let go"

whoaaa.

You should have a DC-FAP at the end of August.
Who's up for more intereaction?

A Nairn (moretap), Friday, 31 January 2003 02:55 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm used to people thinking that way about Missouri. It's hard to fight that stereotype due to Springer and Ashcroft.

Christopher (Christopher), Friday, 31 January 2003 03:03 (twenty-three years ago)

(Shh don't alert them city slickers and foreigners that Ashcroft is our fault.) Should I ask the ultimate St. Louis question of where did you go to high school?

bnw (bnw), Friday, 31 January 2003 03:44 (twenty-three years ago)

I suppose that's acceptable if you answer the same question. I'm a product of the Ritenour school system. Ritenour High. Heh, now you have an idea of what you're dealing with.. right?

Christopher (Christopher), Friday, 31 January 2003 04:44 (twenty-three years ago)

Welcome!

Jen (nstop), Friday, 31 January 2003 05:02 (twenty-three years ago)

Ritenour... ah yes... that tells me absolutely nothing. I went to the private school hellhole known as MICDS. I am still recovering.

bnw (bnw), Friday, 31 January 2003 05:31 (twenty-three years ago)

Hi and welcome, Chris. I also think there has been too much stuff about ILE and each other lately, but I don't think it's because the other stuff has gone down. I've regularly found more than 100 updated threads when I get home of an evening, which suggests to me that it's the stuff you complain of that has increased, not so much that the rest has reduced. I think it's a blip, especially the fuss the last few days, and will die down one way or another.
