Do you diligently do the work you have left on your desk, or do you piss the remaining time away?

well, yes... but what about the rest of y'all?

luna (luna.c), Friday, 31 January 2003 23:06 (twenty-three years ago)

I am actually experiencing this dilemma - everyone else in my dept. went away for a weekend business retreat this weekend, and I'm the only person in my office 'til 5! I actually did get some work done, but unless someone specifically asks me, I'm going to keep doing what I'm doing now - listening to CDs and aimlessly websurfing.

Friday afternoon disease!

I used to get it all the time when I worked at the Ad Agency!

This is EXACTLY what ILX was BORN for.

I keep working, I think. Not that it ever happens: big open plan office, lots of people, main thoroughfares kind of behind me and overlooking my screen, and I don't much notice movement behind me, so the director could be looking over my shoulder the next second.

Also, I don't think anyone counts hours within reason, but I'm hoping for promotion this year (better money, more interesting work) so turning out another two hours of good work will help. I also feel my employers are pretty good ones and deserve 35 hours work from me.

I always get a lot of work done on quiet Friday afternoons, as I feel guilty for having pissed away much of the working week. Not today though--today I'm home, resting after having completed jury duty.

I do this on Monday morning, am I bad?

Not at all - I think it's even better then

luna (luna.c), Friday, 31 January 2003 23:35 (twenty-three years ago)

Interestingly, I work till 9pm EST, so I've basically got twenty minutes till I'm in that situation.

I'd usually crank the radio, take off my shoes, and kill the time with catch-up filing and neatening and clearing off my desk from under the week's accumulation of crap. Though sometimes I'd just kick back, put my feet (again, shoeless) on the desk, and catch-up on some reading.

This is my situation right now. Ugh.

Roll on 4.

My summer internship revolves around working on something that reminds me a lot of the "Pinsky File" on Seinfeld. So yeah, Friday afternoon, everyone else is at a conference in Las Vegas, I'm reading every single article on the main page at energybulletin.net...life is good.

I keep seeing this thread title and thinking it's about wanking.

Autumn Almanac, Sunday, 15 June 2008 00:09 (eighteen years ago)

one year passes...

It's Saturday, I've got less than an hour, and there's nothing left for me to do but wait around really.

Oh, and I'm not on my laptop with my headphones and my music -- boo.
