Fascinating Mental Images...

My hamster died the other day (no sympathy remarks required - he'd had an excellent life and lived to be a ripe ol' age and went painlessly in his sleep). As I called my vet to let him know the news, I told the receptionist that "Sir Didimus is now off running in that wheel in the sky." I thought it was a catchy phrase.

But then the idea kept nagging at me and all of a sudden I had this hillarious mental image: Heaven, as represented in Tom and Jerry cartoons with the puffy white clouds and angels with wings and the pearly gates and so forth. And at the top of the cloud puffs are all of these metal hamster wheels. And running in each wheel, to their little heart's content, are angel hamsters - complete with small white gossamer wings and halos. And maybe there are human angels too, wandering around carrying miniature oil cans to oil the wheels when they get sticky. I love this image!

So what kind of unique and intriguing mental images has your mind created, as of late?

I'm guessing no one really wants me to answer this thread.

Well, not if they involve cunning linguists, like all your other stories.

Now that you've said that, yes.

Ah well, Sir D lived the happy life at least. I do like the idea that all my hamsters are in a similar paradise. :-)

As for fascinating Mental images, the photo-shopped pic of Ned's fam to thread!

Ned, the last mental image I shared with the board involved women throwing their menstrual blood at people. Is this the type of mind that should be allowed free reign on a thread like this?

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 13 February 2003 20:57 (twenty-three years ago)

It's the type of mind that should be allowed free reign naked through middle America shopping malls.

mmmm fruity menstrual croutons

(Laura, I am sorry for ruining your thread.)

*laughing* You haven't ruined it, Dan - in fact, I chuckled as I read down the posts. Basically, I did not want this whole thing to be all maudlin and the like - I just wanted to hear about how others get those "flash" images - what are the triggers and what do they look like and so forth - basically a probing of the subconscious and all of that. And, I happen to find a great deal of joy (or at least amusement) in most of your non-serious posts - I'd be glad to see some of that here *grin*

And Ned - I am sure that your hamsters and my recently deceased hamster and my long-time-ago deceased hamster are all cavorting about in Hamster Heaven - maybe they're using those plastic hamster balls to play bumper cars or destruction derby. Now there's a thought - Hamster Heaven has a midway/carnival with rides and games and such. I wish I could draw!
