i seem to be getting quite rockist about my drinking, but i'm not sure where's best to go for slightly unusual spirits; for example, i haven't yet found a bottle of finlandia cranberry (which surely shouldn't be hard to find?).

bonus marks for suggestions in south ken/notting hill gate.

That place on Old Compton Street with all the absinthe bottles in the window.

(Disclaimer, this may not still exist).

The Oddbins in Notting Hill is very good and very deep - but it is better for wine than spirits. Heathrow is very good for dodgy flavoured Finlandia I've notice. (There's also a Majestic Wine Merchants round the corner to oddbins which i have never been in but looks ver ver large).

You can get bottles of no-name liquor on a stall on The Cut, near Waterloo. You never quite know what you're getting but you can guarantee it'll have a kick.

Not that I drink, obv, but as MDC says the little offy at the west end of Old Compton Street has a good selection of relatively unusual spirits. It was there last week when I wandered past.

I know this isn't the question, but for Belgian beers (often hard to find something other than the obvious 10 or so) there's a fantastic little place called Bottles in Whitechapel / Shadwell on the Commercial Road.

Does anyone know where I can get turkish raki from? Preferably in Oxford or somewhere I can mail-order from but London would be ok. It seems to be v elusive.

Green Lanes would make sense. Ask anyone who runs a kebab shop in Oxford.

Isn't there a mail order site "Bouze onine" or something?

Nicholas Great portland st. has good premium spirits try there.

Anyone tried that UU kazak vodka they're advertising on the side of busses. When I went to Kazakhstan there was only one brand of Kazak Vodka called Kazakhskaya which was infused with herbs and was like the vodka equivalent of Bombay Saphire. if UU is like this then i want some.

I third the one on Old Compton Street, it's ace. Then there's one on (I think) Poland street, off Tottenham court road, they had Absinthe in very soon after it was allowed. And has loads of interesting bottles in the window.
