Because mine has died. What d'y'all think?

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 12:36 (twenty-three years ago)

I had a pierre cardin watch my pop bought me - it was replaced three times and never lasted more than a few weeks.

but then I seem to casue watchs to stop working unless they are Swatch in which case they will just go on forever.

tigerclawskank, Wednesday, 19 February 2003 12:42 (twenty-three years ago)

Can you still get Swatch watches?

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 12:43 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes.

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 12:45 (twenty-three years ago)

I got a good watch here a while ago: www.verycherry.com

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 12:48 (twenty-three years ago)

You have to be 21 or older to enter that site, Lara. As I am only a wee child, I shall refrain. Tsk tsk.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 12:49 (twenty-three years ago)

Maybe it was '.co.uk' then!

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 12:50 (twenty-three years ago)

Indeed, some nice watches there. Unfortunately only the Citizen ones come in at my price range, and seeing as the one what died is a Citizen, I shall stay shy of them for a while.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 12:55 (twenty-three years ago)

I think the watch is very manly looking and sophisticated.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 13:45 (twenty-three years ago)

i stop watches, possibly w.the power of my enormous kirlian field

mark s (mark s), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 13:46 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't like the 'gold' bits on your watch of choice.

My sis got quite a nice Red or Dead one a while back.

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 13:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Nick - dodn't buy anything from Argos in protest at the fact that they start their Christymas advertising in fucking June or something. "It may not be Christmas yet.....but you really should start thinking about buying things from Argos." Yeah, fuck off.

Er, but the watch looks cool.......

SittingPretty (sittingpretty), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 14:37 (twenty-three years ago)

Dodn't??? Sorry - been out for drinks at lunch - fingers are now not working.

SittingPretty (sittingpretty), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 14:38 (twenty-three years ago)

my watch is 21 this year.

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 14:59 (twenty-three years ago)

My watch is just over seven yers old. It is Gucci and the clasp is just beginning to go. It is quite tasteful for a stinky designer watch (no big gold G or anything).

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 15:01 (twenty-three years ago)

my watch is very eighties (it could hardly be anything else) and very digital. Its contemporaries could add up or play Simon and they're all under several kilotonnes of landfill by now. It is Casio and has a swordfish on it. It was once 100M WATER RESIST, but isn't anymore. It's on its fourth battery. Batteries #1 & #2 lasted eight years apiece but Battery #3 lasted three years. It's on its twelfth strap (approx). Occasionally, the lcd fades to grey when I place the wacth, inverted, on my bedside table, but it always returns.

So no, I won't be buying a new watch.

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 15:08 (twenty-three years ago)

Occasionally, the lcd fades to grey.

This is because it is an eighties watch.

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 15:10 (twenty-three years ago)

I want to buy one of them there cool retro digital watches... I keep forgetting about it though.

Aaron W (Aaron W), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 15:13 (twenty-three years ago)

I bought it (£40, rrp £100!), but I have to wait 48 hours or so to have a link removed before I can actually put it on. It looks and feels very nice, and them gold bits aren't nearly as bad as what you kgith think. 'kgith' was meant to say 'might', but it's a typo. I could delete it, but no, it's too beautiful to kill.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 15:28 (twenty-three years ago)

Just like minks. Getting new stuff rocks!

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 17:37 (twenty-three years ago)

I wouldn't buy it myself - I don't like the silver/gold two-tone look. But whatever floats your boat...

o. nate (onate), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 17:43 (twenty-three years ago)

when i have $1200 to blow on wrist decor

Aaron A., Wednesday, 19 February 2003 18:33 (twenty-three years ago)

The fact that I have to wait till either this afternoon or tomorrow afternoon means I get double the "new stuff" pleasure - once from paying for it yesterday, and tryin it on and so on, and then again when I pick it up! It's so cool being Zen enough to realise stuff liek this rather than just getting wound up about wanting it now like when I was a kid.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Thursday, 20 February 2003 08:43 (twenty-three years ago)

They've done it. I've got it. It's very nice.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Thursday, 20 February 2003 15:33 (twenty-three years ago)

You should take a photo of yourself modeling it for us.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Thursday, 20 February 2003 16:19 (twenty-three years ago)

I will do this evening!

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Thursday, 20 February 2003 16:19 (twenty-three years ago)

Complete with note on hand to remidn myself to bring in a Calvin & Hobbes book for Katy. Which I promptly forgot.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 21 February 2003 10:50 (twenty-three years ago)

From the days before I cared for time enough to wear a watch.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 21 February 2003 10:51 (twenty-three years ago)

I do not like Nick's Argos watch at all. There are so many nice watches in the world! Please reconsider.

N. (nickdastoor), Friday, 21 February 2003 12:45 (twenty-three years ago)

Sadly too late! I'm very keen on it. It's got a matt finish which I really like. Plus it should've been £100 and was only £40 which is always a bonus.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 21 February 2003 12:46 (twenty-three years ago)

Have you got the time on you Nick?

Simeon (Simeon), Friday, 21 February 2003 12:55 (twenty-three years ago)

1.04!

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 21 February 2003 13:04 (twenty-three years ago)

I think your watch is faulty, I make it 2.43...

Simeon (Simeon), Friday, 21 February 2003 14:42 (twenty-three years ago)

one year passes...
What do you think of Panerai?

Mary (Mary), Sunday, 6 June 2004 00:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Bluebottle:  What's the time Eccles?
Eccles:  Just a minute, I've got it written down on a piece of paper.  A nice man wrote it down for me.  If anyone asks me the time, I show it to them.
Bluebottle:  Let me see that paper.  It is writted here that it is 8 o'clock.  Here what happens if they ask you and it's not 8 o'clock.
Eccles:  Then I don't show them the piece of paper!
Bluebottle:  But how do you know if it's 8 o'clock?
Eccles:  I've got it written down on this piece of paper!
Bluebottle:  You should get one of those things my grandpa has.  It tells the time, gets you up in the morning, makes you tea.
Eccles:  Oh yes, what do you call that?
Bluebottle:  My grandma!
Eccles:  Here! How does she know what time it is?
Bluebottle:  She's got it writted on a piece of paper!"
