I have the day off on Friday, and can't afford to go up to Glasgow now, so I have London at my feet, a 6 zone travelcard and a camera. Give me 5 places to go to (but must be near Mount Pleasant at Lunchtime) that don't cost much but I can record and report back on.

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 13:12 (twenty-three years ago)

the hip hop photography exhibition in Camden (you will notice i'm turning this into a 'places stevem must go to soon' thread instead, haha)

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 13:13 (twenty-three years ago)

Tate Modern?

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 13:14 (twenty-three years ago)

They Came From The Stars (I Saw Them) rehearsal in Shoreditch - you can go and take pictures, and I can pretend I was in two places at the same time! (But you have to let me see the pics afterwards, so I can perve in peace...)

Go see this picture in Tate Britain (free) http://www.kingsgalleries.com/1024x768/galleries/clausen/expanded/picture-7.htm

Mooro (Mooro), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 13:32 (twenty-three years ago)

mmm, Tate Britain, I haven't been there in ages. Good call.

One down (maybe two, Pete)

chris (chris), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 13:36 (twenty-three years ago)

Five shows which I want to go to (and probably will this w/e):

1. Pierre Bismuth @ Lisson (plus the Jonathon Monk over the road, which sounds like fun although I klnow nothing about him)

2. The big group show at the Approach, which has Tim Stoner so how could it be wrong? It has the added attraction of delightful beer of course.

3. The Julian Opie thing at Sadlers Wells: I'm not sure what that's all about

4. Lisa Milroy @ Alan Cristea. Mmmmm Lisa Milroy. I love Lisa Milroy. Perhaps not these geisha pictures as much as some of her other things. Still fun though.

5. Richard Wilson at the Wapping. Apparently he's had something crushed and he's in the process of restoring it to its previous form. This process has just started and will progress until the end of March.

You know if you come visit me I might need to satisfy your professional interest in our bar.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 13:48 (twenty-three years ago)

Does this mean the Glasgow FAP flops again?

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 13:49 (twenty-three years ago)

koogs (koogs), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 13:52 (twenty-three years ago)

I'll do Uxbridge to Walthamstow anyway today, Andy!

You don't need me for a Glasgow FAP though.

Tim, I'm free all weekend if you fancy a Mare Street trawl. And I think Wapping may be number three on the list.

chris (chris), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 14:06 (twenty-three years ago)

You don't need me for a Glasgow FAP though.

But weren't you to be the catalyst?

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 14:08 (twenty-three years ago)

oops

chris (chris), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 14:08 (twenty-three years ago)

*Tsk*

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 14:10 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes in Wapping you can document the view over the river from the Prospect of Whitby. Might be up for Sunday, it depends whether I can persuade my brother to drive me to Bedford to see a show of Edward Bawdens (and of course make a visit to the Shrine of Mooro).

Tim (Tim), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 14:15 (twenty-three years ago)

Shrine of Mooro?

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 14:15 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes.

Tim (Tim), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 14:16 (twenty-three years ago)

oh yes, have you not heard of it?

There are relics.

chris (chris), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 14:16 (twenty-three years ago)

Can someone send me the literature??

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 14:17 (twenty-three years ago)

Do you know the special handshake?

chris (chris), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 14:18 (twenty-three years ago)

I've only mastered the headstand and the origami mongoose at this stage.

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 14:20 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh, bless.

Tim (Tim), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 14:21 (twenty-three years ago)

No shrine, but lots of blue plaques of course.

One on Queens Park Junior School where I was Head Boy (its been all downhill since), one on All Saints Church where I was the red-cassocked boat boy (perhaps it really has a posh ecclesiastical name like "thurifer", but if so I have forgotten it), one on the hedge under which I lost my virginity, one on the Castle mound where I once supervised a trench during an archaeological dig, one on the suspension bridge to mark the place where I fell into the Ouse.

Mooro (Mooro), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 17:33 (twenty-three years ago)

the hedge under which I lost my virginity

Sally's not adopted???

Lara (Lara), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 17:35 (twenty-three years ago)

:P

Mooro (Mooro), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 17:42 (twenty-three years ago)

Take pictures of Banksy's tags near Cargo in Shoreditch. I miss walking by them on my way to work and forgot to take a picture. Better yet because people vandalized them.

Carey (Carey), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 17:44 (twenty-three years ago)

Under a bush? What'll we hear next? Eh?

...Eh?
