Rhythm and Spice in Cambridge (MA)!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 22:35 (twenty-three years ago)

Uh, where are you at? I know a few places in Chicago, but it's probably best to go to the big Caribbean fest down in Jackson Park every summer.

(I'm a vegetarian, so just plaintains and rice for me, thanks.)

hstencil, Wednesday, 19 February 2003 22:41 (twenty-three years ago)

Xibalba (xibalba), Wednesday, 19 February 2003 23:32 (twenty-three years ago)

If you're Holloway/Finsbury Park London, there's a nice Caribbean takeaway on Seven Sister's Rd between Thane Villas & Medina Rd that I can't remember the name of right now. Great food tho' & their jerk chicken is fantastic!

Any resturant in Oakwood with steam on the windows.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Thursday, 20 February 2003 00:42 (twenty-three years ago)

The steam produced by goats crying 'Water! Water!'

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 20 February 2003 00:45 (twenty-three years ago)

And the other goats going 'No, water just exposes your mouth to more spice - bread is better'

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 20 February 2003 00:47 (twenty-three years ago)

And the original goats say 'But I'm dead.'

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 20 February 2003 00:48 (twenty-three years ago)

This is a vegetarian parable.

N. (nickdastoor), Thursday, 20 February 2003 00:50 (twenty-three years ago)

Curried goat south Indian style is also nice.

isadora (isadora), Thursday, 20 February 2003 00:52 (twenty-three years ago)

VERY IMPORTANT ADVERTISEMENT FOR WHO WANNA GO TO BUCHAREST
just came back from BUC (1 meter of snow and -10 celsius degrees) where I've found an unsatisfying situation (bananajoe was right on it)
after a deep study of this bucharest forum I have some opinion to share with you guys
I think that not just frenchmen is a pimp but also burnie and ropickle (what do you think drakes?) and they've been arguing because they are competitors
in a more larger view, I think the most of the writers in this forum are pimps or indipendent escorts
I have patiently collected a lot of pics and numbers of many girls advertised on the site suggested by these guys and they are a fake...
when you call or visit the apartments, the girl you were looking for is ever unavailable and you find ugly and fat girls
in one case the pimp tried to steal my pocket when I went to the bathroom but he couldn't do it because I was on alert (the girl has insisted to much in taking a shower with me and I came back after few seconds to the room while she was almost screaming "stay with me !!!!" to let the theaf leave)
after many calls and many trips, I tested the last resource, discos (I don't like very much night clubs)
I went to HERESTRAU because I've read a lot of different opinion about that and wanted to make a mine own
disco Herestrau is not a disco
it's just a night club called disco (don't know why)
when you go in (entrance 1/4 of $) you have to take a table and pay the drinks to the girl (if you want) or just yours
the dance floor is just a place where the girls show theirselves
the most are young and cute; some (few) is just nice
thay have a common rule (I talked with 3 of them and make friends with one with whom I'm still in contact) about the base price (100 $)
that means in a wide scale from 1 cum to 1 night, it's up to your bargain talent (don't trust to stupid stories about your age or physical look, they are pro's and they control the collegues in what they agree with the customers)
to upgrade the amount they sell you this story (already heard in other contests): we are controlled by a local MAFIA, gipsy, and we have to give'm back the money they gave to our family
we are slaves, bla bla bla...
in fact their bodyguards wait for them outside (they need them because they go with you to your apartment), have a car, pick you to the destination and then wait on the street (-12/15 at night !!!)
what's the difference between BUC and other places?
none...but in this forum when many lier/promoter try to sell BUC as the cheapest and best place for sex
after visited many eastern europe country I think BUC is an average place for sex and for sure the only one when someone tried to pickpocket my wallet

shizznot 77, Thursday, 20 February 2003 07:00 (twenty-three years ago)

if yer in philly -- or ever plan to visit philly -- there were some really good jamaican restaurants on or around South Street where you could prob. get this dish.

Tad (llamasfur), Thursday, 20 February 2003 07:37 (twenty-three years ago)

I think I'm reeling over the contrast between those last two posts. Too much for my over-logged brain - I keep think about baby goats in brothels - that's somre sort of literary reference, but I've no idea to what.

I'm Passing Open Windows (Ms Laura), Thursday, 20 February 2003 08:00 (twenty-three years ago)

(Sean's at it again.)

There was a fantastic Jamaican carry-out not far from the Courthouse in Roxbury, MA (it was called the Carribean Bakery, I think) that had the best damn curry goat ever. Had many a happy lunch there.

Colin Meeder (Mert), Thursday, 20 February 2003 09:59 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm suddenly craving a roti.

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Thursday, 20 February 2003 10:31 (twenty-three years ago)

Jerk on Wardour Street is pretty basic but solid.

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 20 February 2003 11:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Much like your good self, Peter.

Tim (Tim), Thursday, 20 February 2003 11:02 (twenty-three years ago)

This may seem like an obvious thing to say but have you tried Brixton?

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 20 February 2003 11:08 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh, but the finest place to try Jerky Chicken or Goat Curry is obv on the route of the Notting Hill Carnival. Guaranteed guts & shots after but there you go.

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 20 February 2003 11:15 (twenty-three years ago)

I keep think about baby goats in brothels - that's somre sort of literary reference, but I've no idea to what.

To the novel you're going to write but haven't started yet, natch

Goats, boats and women!

Curried goat is toptastic. I've only had it Indian/Nepalese style.
We used to buy it from a lovely Nepalese man in Sydney. Have had it in Nepal too but the goat was suspiciously stringy. Anyhow, if you can locate a Nepalese restaurant in your environs you may find they have it on the menu.

Stick a bit of pineapple in and you’ve got Caribbean style!

Lara (Lara), Thursday, 20 February 2003 11:17 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah places round ladbroke grove. the best caribbean take-away i've known is further north though towards Queen's Park. "Fats" - absolutely grebt food, but as i recall curried goat wasn't always on their stuff to takeaway list. Often, but not always.

Alan (Alan), Thursday, 20 February 2003 11:19 (twenty-three years ago)

What does goat actually taste like anyway? I imagine it being like really tough, stringy lamb.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 20 February 2003 11:50 (twenty-three years ago)

it's muskier

i find it too chewy really

mark s (mark s), Thursday, 20 February 2003 11:55 (twenty-three years ago)

It has to be curried for *ages*, and eventually it gets tolerably tender. It's more like mutton than lamb, but perhaps that's obvious.

Tim (Tim), Thursday, 20 February 2003 11:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Often it is mutton rather than goat. But if it is goat it chewier and more flavoursome, as mentioned above.

Ed (dali), Thursday, 20 February 2003 11:59 (twenty-three years ago)

There have been some very nice-looking legs of goat in a few of our local butchers' recently.

Tim (Tim), Thursday, 20 February 2003 11:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Tim, Ed and Mark S are very good at describing what goat tastes like.

Lara (Lara), Thursday, 20 February 2003 12:01 (twenty-three years ago)

My dad had roast kid on holiday and it looked very tender and tasty. Maybe they should curry kids instead?

Emma, Thursday, 20 February 2003 12:04 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm kind of imagining Tim sidling up to the butcher's window, whispering 'hey lovely lady goat, nice pins'. I am sick. But not as sick as Bucharest-boy above.

Alan (Alan), Thursday, 20 February 2003 12:05 (twenty-three years ago)

My dad had roast kid on holiday

er, are you sure it was the goat kind?

MarkH (MarkH), Thursday, 20 February 2003 12:06 (twenty-three years ago)

I killed a goat once. Then it was stewed and we ate it. They also made blood sausages out of it. It was good.

Ed (dali), Thursday, 20 February 2003 12:08 (twenty-three years ago)

MarkH this was in Lanzarote and the Spanish wuv ickle children. Also if it was a small child it had cloven feet and deserved to be eaten.

Emma, Thursday, 20 February 2003 12:17 (twenty-three years ago)

What other human deformities would merit cannibalisation, Emma?

Tim (Tim), Thursday, 20 February 2003 12:22 (twenty-three years ago)

tasting like sausage

mark s (mark s), Thursday, 20 February 2003 12:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh but *all* babies taste like... oops.

Tim (Tim), Thursday, 20 February 2003 12:26 (twenty-three years ago)

Any deformity which means you look more like something edible than something human e.g. having a curly tail & snout, having udders, being wrapped in foil etc.

Emma, Thursday, 20 February 2003 13:34 (twenty-three years ago)

wrapped in foil

just imagine you've just run the London Marathon, you've run your best time ever, you've been on the telly and you've raised oodles of money for charity....AND THEN SOMEONE COMES ALONG AND EATS YOU!!!

MarkH (MarkH), Thursday, 20 February 2003 13:47 (twenty-three years ago)

only after being curried for a long time, runners are sinewy

Ed (dali), Thursday, 20 February 2003 13:50 (twenty-three years ago)

Spanish wuv ickle children

For breakfast lunch and tea, so I've heard. And in little polystyrene take-out boxes while they're watching the bullfight.

MarkH (MarkH), Thursday, 20 February 2003 13:54 (twenty-three years ago)

Fresh goat is very tender if cooked properly. Flavor is complex rather than really gamy -- if it's tough or particularly funky-tasting, it's an old goat one way or the other.

Colin Meeder (Mert), Thursday, 20 February 2003 14:11 (twenty-three years ago)

Meat is murder.

Mary (Mary), Thursday, 20 February 2003 14:11 (twenty-three years ago)

How come this thread hasn't attracted the attention of any TROLLS?

MarkH (MarkH), Thursday, 20 February 2003 14:12 (twenty-three years ago)

But murder is not necessarily meat.

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 20 February 2003 14:19 (twenty-three years ago)

Mert is Meeder.

Colin Meeder (Mert), Thursday, 20 February 2003 14:21 (twenty-three years ago)

i always have it at carnival and then instantly regret it due to the plate of bone i tend to get - i'd like to try a proper meal of it tho as the threads of meat i do get i always enjoy.

james (james), Thursday, 20 February 2003 14:24 (twenty-three years ago)

wrapped in foil

just imagine you've just run the London Marathon, you've run your best time ever, you've been on the telly and you've raised oodles of money for charity....AND THEN SOMEONE COMES ALONG AND EATS YOU!!!

Depends on your definition of 'eat', surely? Could not a less obvious connotation be a charming way to congratulate the athletes.

Lara (Lara), Thursday, 20 February 2003 14:28 (twenty-three years ago)

Perhaps we should undertake a correspondence to Ken Livingston on this matter?

Lara (Lara), Thursday, 20 February 2003 14:29 (twenty-three years ago)

(Excuse me, I need to start training for the marathon...)

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 20 February 2003 14:42 (twenty-three years ago)

'Curried goat' sounds about as delicious as 'pickled slothhoff'.

mark p (Mark P), Thursday, 20 February 2003 14:44 (twenty-three years ago)

Don't hate on the goat, yo. It is SOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOD it isn't even funny!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 20 February 2003 14:44 (twenty-three years ago)

But it's goat.

mark p (Mark P), Thursday, 20 February 2003 14:46 (twenty-three years ago)

Anyway, thanks to JBR, I now also want roti.

mark p (Mark P), Thursday, 20 February 2003 14:46 (twenty-three years ago)

I wish to eat delicious horsemeat but am continually foiled in my quest.

Tim (Tim), Thursday, 20 February 2003 14:54 (twenty-three years ago)

Pedigree Chum, anyone?

Lara (Lara), Thursday, 20 February 2003 14:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Go to france. Its quie nice really. (Horse meat that is)

Ed (dali), Thursday, 20 February 2003 14:58 (twenty-three years ago)

Quite right. France is horrid.

Lara (Lara), Thursday, 20 February 2003 14:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Tim is your use of the word foiled deliberate? Are you trying to make me eat you? (not in Lara's sense but in the cannibal sense)

Emma, Thursday, 20 February 2003 15:00 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't know the safest answer to that question so will maintain a lofty silence on the matter.

Tim (Tim), Thursday, 20 February 2003 15:07 (twenty-three years ago)

The lofty silence is ruined by the crinkling of your foil underwear, Tim.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 20 February 2003 15:09 (twenty-three years ago)

That's not my ... oh never mind.

Tim (Tim), Thursday, 20 February 2003 15:11 (twenty-three years ago)

I wish to eat delicious horsemeat but am continually foiled in my quest.

I had some in Venice about a year ago. Apparently eating delicious horsemeat is perfectly acceptable in Italy.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 20 February 2003 15:20 (twenty-three years ago)

Was it delicious?

Tim (Tim), Thursday, 20 February 2003 15:22 (twenty-three years ago)

Best curried anything (goat, chicken) I've had was at a Haitian restaurant in Middletown, Conn. I can't remember the name but it was gooood.

Amateurist (amateurist), Thursday, 20 February 2003 15:29 (twenty-three years ago)

It was shredded and on a pizza and didn't taste bad at all. I wussed out of a proper horse steak though.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 20 February 2003 15:34 (twenty-three years ago)

I've had stewed horse which was lovelly and I might have eaten a horse steak in a cuban diner in Miami but I'm not sure.

Ed (dali), Thursday, 20 February 2003 15:36 (twenty-three years ago)

apparently the Russians love their children stewed. at least I think that's what sting said

Alan (Alan), Thursday, 20 February 2003 15:46 (twenty-three years ago)

Delicious.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 20 February 2003 16:02 (twenty-three years ago)

Often it is mutton rather than goat.

In the U.S., more likely it's the other way around if the proprietor thinks a customer is squeamish about goat. I happen to like curried goat, and mainstream grocery stores in DC have started stocking goat meat for stewing, but I haven't tried making it myself yet.

However, I do have a job interview in Silver Spring later today...maybe afterwards I should check if there are any Jamaican restaurants that have been able to resist the forces of gentrification.

j.lu (j.lu), Thursday, 20 February 2003 17:52 (twenty-three years ago)

I might have eaten a horse steak in a cuban diner in Miami but I'm not sure.

They didn't refer to the dish as "Belmont Steaks," did they?

j.lu (j.lu), Thursday, 20 February 2003 17:54 (twenty-three years ago)

I can't remember. It didn't taste like beef though and i was jet lagged and tired.

Ed (dali), Thursday, 20 February 2003 17:55 (twenty-three years ago)

very good, nick.

Skottie, Friday, 21 February 2003 01:04 (twenty-three years ago)

In the future this thread will merge with the Curried Japanese Lesbian Monkey thread. Soon, very soon.
-- Skottie (n...), February 21st, 2003.

You probably won't believe my story, but I'll tell it anyway. Typically, I pay $20 for an hour with a street walker, sometimes I shell out $40 for an hour, or an hour and a half, and my top limit is $60 if it goes at least an hour and a half.

This is for GFE sex. Now, this is not to say that I never do the $20 for 15 minutes routine, but this is typically for the first time with a chica.

Some tips:

a) I am a total stud, although I don't look like one. This always confuses the girls, since most of the guys that look like me can't screw worth a shit.
b) Sometimes I refuse sex with the chicks. This may seem weird, but its a great technique. As an example, if I have just taken a chick up to the room, and I want to rest for another chick, I will shell out 20 bucks for a 2nd tier streetwalker, bring her up to the room, and roll around the bed for an hour with her, deep kissing and the like. Most streetwalkerss will ultimately respond with an attempt at BB sex, which I always refuse (since chicas that do this typically have diseases that they know about). Nothing turns a streetwalker on more than a client who won't have intercourse with them. Of course, this has to be accompanied by some fast, romantic talking. But, the real reward comes the next time you take that same streetwalker up to the room, her female ego has been challenged, and she will do anything to score with you. Meanwhile, I am rested up for my real target girl.

c) Always leave the money you intend to pay the girl on the counter before the session starts. Don't let her take it, though. If she chooses to spend an hour with you, she will leave with the money you put on the counter. If its more than an hour, I might give her an extra 10 bucks.

d) Pay in bills, not coins.

e) Don't forget the little gifts, buy stuff they can't buy in won't get from other guys, like some types of chocolate (Trader Joe's broken chocolate is good).

f) Show up at least once a month.

g) Remember their names and their stories, how many kids, where they are from, etc.

h) Get a hotel room for the whole night. Don't stay in their fleabag hotels.

Good luck!

Radio Blue, Friday, 21 February 2003 03:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Hmmmmmmmmmm. I guess it happened sooner than I thought it would.

Huh??
