Here's where you post the profile of your current nerve crush.
Mine is: funkymintyfresh --- not very interesting profile, but oh so cute, though i could do without that little hair puff thing.

phil-two (phil-two), Friday, 21 February 2003 07:50 (twenty-three years ago)

oh, but i emailed him and he wrote back saying "you seem interesting"... gee, thanks. "you seem interesting" = "she has a good personality"?

minna (minna), Friday, 21 February 2003 08:46 (twenty-three years ago)

What's a nerve crush and how can I get one?!?!?

Dammit, I NEEEEEEEED a new crush.

kate, Friday, 21 February 2003 09:30 (twenty-three years ago)

kate:
Nerve.Com!

everybody's doing it, ya know.

phil-two (phil-two), Friday, 21 February 2003 10:53 (twenty-three years ago)

I think we have already established that I worship Jody, so her of course. I haven't looked since realising you have to pay to write to anyone. (I might do that, but it seems mad when I have a date arranged for next week.)

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Friday, 21 February 2003 18:25 (twenty-three years ago)

nobody right now, I haven't looked at it in a while.

hstencil, Friday, 21 February 2003 18:27 (twenty-three years ago)

Weezer rule, or something.

jel -- (jel), Friday, 21 February 2003 18:27 (twenty-three years ago)

Martin: Huzzah!

Everyone: You guys realize that this is the same personals service that you can get through the Onion, right? Onion crushes just sound so much more funner.

My favorite feature is the "collect call" thing, where people send you a messaging saying that they're interested in you but you have to foot the bill. And then you look and, like, they live in Seattle and smoke. And you think, eh, you're cute but you're 22 and live a few hundred miles away and you can't afford to pay to e-mail me and this is supposed to tempt me how exactly?

Chris P (Chris P), Friday, 21 February 2003 18:34 (twenty-three years ago)

minna = on point

boxcubed (boxcubed), Saturday, 22 February 2003 02:05 (twenty-three years ago)

minna (minna), Saturday, 22 February 2003 16:40 (twenty-three years ago)

*hisses and retreats into shadow*

boxcubed (boxcubed), Saturday, 22 February 2003 20:20 (twenty-three years ago)

(i think this and the other nerve thread prove that i am a snob, and that it's not to my benefit)

Amateurist (amateurist), Saturday, 22 February 2003 20:26 (twenty-three years ago)

COFESSION TIME: Wich one of you wrote this

Song or album that puts me in the mood:
Dinosaur Sex by the Family Fodder. Because nothing says sex like dinosaurs.

And this

Song or album that puts me in the mood:
I love music...how can I narrow it down?

That Girl (thatgirl), Monday, 24 February 2003 03:27 (twenty-three years ago)

Is that Millar?

bnw (bnw), Monday, 24 February 2003 03:40 (twenty-three years ago)

Holy freaking heck. Someone cited FAMILY FODDER?! I must know this person's profile so I can point the band at it...

Douglas (Douglas), Monday, 24 February 2003 03:44 (twenty-three years ago)

you do all realize that I am making jest?

That Girl (thatgirl), Monday, 24 February 2003 03:46 (twenty-three years ago)

hey now, stop making fun of Daddino's southern daddy.

donut bitch (donut), Monday, 24 February 2003 09:38 (twenty-three years ago)

with the glasses she looks a bit like the girl from Rushmore...

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 24 February 2003 18:26 (twenty-three years ago)

I have a hard time not getting a crush on any girl wearing glasses like that.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 24 February 2003 18:27 (twenty-three years ago)

''but she's like 19.''

young but not too young. get her!

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 24 February 2003 18:35 (twenty-three years ago)

i signed up after reading this thread so i could browse. these people are hysterical!

Dave M. (rotten03), Monday, 24 February 2003 19:22 (twenty-three years ago)

OK, this "post a picture of a cute girl and get five guys evaluating her" is creeping me out. Girls to thread!

Amateurist (amateurist), Monday, 24 February 2003 19:34 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah no kidding. This whole thread is kinda weird.

mark p (Mark P), Monday, 24 February 2003 19:35 (twenty-three years ago)

OK, this "post a picture of a cute girl and get five guys evaluating her" is creeping me out. Girls to thread!

b-b-b-but, Jody Beth Rosen & Minna are girls!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 24 February 2003 19:56 (twenty-three years ago)

She's cute. But what I wanna know is why every other person on Nerve is a "graphic designer"! I think that actually means "I altered my profile picture using Photoshop."

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 24 February 2003 20:16 (twenty-three years ago)

Maybe "graphic designer" = "unemployed & live with parents but don't want you to know 'bout it"?

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 24 February 2003 20:20 (twenty-three years ago)

Jody, I think you may be OTM. (The now-absent girl in q. did not claim to be a graphic designer though, thankfully.)

Amateurist (amateurist), Monday, 24 February 2003 20:21 (twenty-three years ago)

So why on Earth are so many 18-19 yr. olds on Nerve? I thought the desperation didn't begin settling in until you were a bitter lonely old man like me (okay, so I'm only 24, whatevah).

nickalicious (nickalicious), Monday, 24 February 2003 21:31 (twenty-three years ago)

but, I am a graphic designer!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 24 February 2003 21:56 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes, Spencer, we're all graphic designers.

I must gets on nerve sos I can gets some of dat azz.

jm (jtm), Monday, 24 February 2003 22:14 (twenty-three years ago)

Another observation. Every female under 25 seems to have one of the following her words in her profile and/or email address:

kitten
pixie
star
girl (variant: gurl)

Also I'm tired of all the "I'm a geek/dork! I'm looking for a geek/dork!" nonsense.

Hm.

I guess my problem is just that Nerve.com renders salient (and deafening) all those generational clichés that seem harmless, even charming, when viewed in isolation.

Amateurist (amateurist), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 07:00 (twenty-three years ago)

and you're complaining about that? 10 bucks sez if they weren't there, you'd be complaining that "none of those girls are your type".
Heh, sorry, just wanted to make sure you saw the good side of it.

Surely, yeah, nerve.com pretty much attracts "that" specific minority of the population, but hey... if you're expecting a social experiment at worst, then I'm really glad nerve exists.

I'll certainly be making a profile soon enough, once I get other parts of my life straightened out.

donut bitch (donut), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 07:13 (twenty-three years ago)

I haven't responded to any of them: I'm holding out for pixiekittengurlstar, who likes geeks/dorks and people with an even sicker sense of humor than she has, looks like all yr favorite celebrities AND just wants to rock out all night long and party every day.

Info: her favorite book is "Lincoln's Doctor's Dog"

Justyn Dillingham (Justyn Dillingham), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 07:40 (twenty-three years ago)

once I get other parts of my life straightened out.

Hahaha sometimes I tell myself this too but IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN.

Amateurist (amateurist), Tuesday, 25 February 2003 07:42 (twenty-three years ago)

Except of course that most of the Nerve personals aren't nerve.com readers, because it's the same database as a bunch of other websites. (I am on through my local weekly, the Portland Mercury, but I was still able to see phil-two's profile.)
