unpleasant people who share your opinions

Judge Pickles shares my opinions on the decriminalisation of canabis. I saw him on TV lucidly putting forward a very convincing (to me) argument on the topic.

I do not share his unsavoury and deeply sexist opinions of women.

what unpleasant people share your opinions? does it make you worry that your opinions might be unpleasant? or does it make you think that maybe ALL the opinions of the unpleasant person might be right, and you should slough off your prejudices and join them?

First off, this is a really good question.
I think that everyone is entitled to their own opinion... and even though it might be shared with some pretty fucked up people, it's your opinion nonetheless. I'm sure if people thought long and hard, there'd probably be some idea of Hitler's that they agreed with. He started Volkswagen, and I think it's a great car, but I'm not going to go kill 6 million Jews over it.

this irritating especially when the opinion I share with them are still to be mainstream.

Take the "optimal longevity towards immortality" community as an example: it is composed of many reasonable doctors, nutritionist, science inclined people etc but there is also the occasional mentalist who noize around that he is an immortal AND at the same time mix some signal acceptable by everyone with his shite. Regulars don't get fooled but it can make some serious bad impression on newbies and in this case newbies are pretty much the public at large.

Another example: rael is a p.r. disaster for therapeutic cloning

Or like what about the flip of this?

E.G. Tommy Douglas, loved as the father of Universal Health Care and Social Democracy in Canada, was also a proponent of eugenics.

The war has produced some strange bedfellows both for and against. I never thought I would be nodding my head in agreement with Pat Buchanan!
