DJ Martian (djmartian), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 17:23 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah, I was there with Vic, Spencer and another friend a month ago. Enjoyable enough!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 17:28 (twenty-three years ago)

It's not our blessed Doomie.

Ned, have just found out that my mate Geeta has shared a flat w/Ms Goodge up until recently (DG lived in my old building so yes, folks, we were dancing on her head once) and when G gets her doctorate in April, all MBVers have planned a special Dr Punk party for her, which may include myuuuuuuuuuusick. More details when they follow.

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 17:30 (twenty-three years ago)

OUTDOOR SMOKING PATIO!!!!!!!

chris (chris), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 17:30 (twenty-three years ago)

but this night has 50 free MBV t-shirts !

DJ Martian (djmartian), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 17:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Somebody go get Ned for me, please...

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 18:08 (twenty-three years ago)

an interesting club. I enjoyed it once, but I suspect that subsequent visits would dilute the experience.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 18:10 (twenty-three years ago)

suzy, where will this party BE!!!???

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 18:11 (twenty-three years ago)

Back, I was busy with something! A big ol' Deb Googe party? Well-deserved! :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 18:39 (twenty-three years ago)

Ned, did you read suzy's post? I think she's saying that Kevin, Belinda, Colm, Debbie may play? am I reading that right???

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 18:43 (twenty-three years ago)

at the party in London?

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 18:43 (twenty-three years ago)

*reads* Ah, I see. Hey, that would be cool indeed. But it's a private party! Let them have fun without silly people like me. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 18:44 (twenty-three years ago)

Unless this 'Dr Punk' thing is supposed to be some sort of code for a club or whatever.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 18:45 (twenty-three years ago)

DG lived in my old building

teh booze must have been good, I don't recall a thing

DG (D_To_The_G), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 18:46 (twenty-three years ago)

but this night has 50 free MBV t-shirts !

I already have two!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 18:49 (twenty-three years ago)

Let them have fun without silly people like me

but Ned, you're their #2 fan! ;)

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 18:50 (twenty-three years ago)

Hey star, I knew you'd de-lurk if I put it like that.

Spencer's inferences are korrekt. I think Pinefox might know Geeta as she is a Birkbeck face in extremis.

At any rate I am invited to this party so will say nothing here about bringing the tape player/md player if there is musick. G. said that they are trying to cajole Kevin into releasing something but he is being more anal about quality the longer this goes on (and she is massively entertained by the J Mascis/K Shields Rock Tree Sloth activity she has seen).

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 18:52 (twenty-three years ago)

Heh. Seriously, though, it sounds like a private party for friends! Why would I want to crash that? It'd be rude. And Suzy is right about what I'm actually interested in -- new stuff that's been recorded but not yet released. See, my understanding is that MBV was essentially Kevin and Bilinda for a long time, then just Kevin and now who knows. Is this an actual restart or just a reunion to play 'the hits'? Hey, I've seen the full band tear my head off with a 35-minute holocaust for "You Made Me Realize" and it was wonderful. But I want to hear something new and/or unavailable by the actual folks who put it together. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 18:55 (twenty-three years ago)

curses!

DG (D_To_The_G), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 19:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Foiled again. How's courses and that?

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 19:01 (twenty-three years ago)

not too hot...I have to give a presentation on electoral reform tomorrow, oh joy

DG (D_To_The_G), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 19:04 (twenty-three years ago)

You'll knock 'em dead, DG. :-)

And yeah, keep us posted Suzy! :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 19:09 (twenty-three years ago)

Can we make this thread unavailable to MB* googlers somehow?

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 19:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Summon a moderator and change all references to M*V, M* B****y V*******e, K**** S******, etc.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 19:14 (twenty-three years ago)

Or even better yet, lock the thread...and then delete after the club night tomorrow. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 19:17 (twenty-three years ago)

Wel, no, because This Is The Thread Where I Repost in April. Unless it can be unlocked again.

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 19:19 (twenty-three years ago)

I think it can. And admittedly the thread title is a nicely random cover for the real talk. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 19:20 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah, like: single transferable vote C/D?

DG (D_To_The_G), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 19:22 (twenty-three years ago)

A most good idea! :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 19:22 (twenty-three years ago)

i think i've mentioned here the c o l m lives in the SF Bay Area (kensington, berkeley hills... either with or very near to h o p e s a n d o v a l), he followed his sister out here about 7-8 years ago.

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 19:22 (twenty-three years ago)

Makes sense, a lot of gaze folks end up there for some reason. Must be the fog.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 19:23 (twenty-three years ago)

according to good friend who went out with him, c o l m can barely tie own shoelaces, the piece of mancrap.

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 19:27 (twenty-three years ago)

how many names am i meant to anti-googling?

mark s (mark s), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 19:28 (twenty-three years ago)

n*it*u* a*eb* i would think;)

gareth (gareth), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 19:29 (twenty-three years ago)

i'm gunna do it later, it looks fiddly

mark s (mark s), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 19:33 (twenty-three years ago)

ned,

just this once i will forgive your southern californian unawarance with regard to northern california regional climes.

berkeley is located across the bay from san francisco. it does not share the same climate that the peninsula affords (primarily due to berkeley being 15 miles inland and tucked in against a crescent basin formed by the hills). in the summer it is usually 10-20 degrees warmer there than in SF. fog is a very san francisco in summer thing.

ps: "gaze folks" is a phrase i hope to never hear again in my life! same with "mancrap".

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 19:34 (twenty-three years ago)

suzy,

writing/performing "touched" vs. tying one's shoes... ned will side with me here.

mancrap makes me sad. i hope you have good reason to call him that and are not just idly declaring him thus. (how elevated can thy diction become!).

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 19:38 (twenty-three years ago)

just this once i will forgive your southern californian unawarance with regard to northern california regional climes.

Hey now, I lived in Vallejo for two years. And trust me, I remember a lot of fog. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 19:40 (twenty-three years ago)

gygax, I believe the exact term was 'piece of mancrap' and I'm not using it without reasons.

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 20:13 (twenty-three years ago)

Besides which, the people who make the music you like ain't always nice people and don't always have a lot of other life skills. I expect people here to be intelligent enough to make that distinction.

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 20:15 (twenty-three years ago)

Suzy is of course quite right. I don't expect anything from the musicians I love beyond the hope that they can keep doing things that entertain me.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 20:18 (twenty-three years ago)

attention Mark S, ask Graham if it is possible to insert this meta tag, it will save you a lot of work:

[Google definately will not index this page, if the meta tag is inserted]

The Robots META tag allows HTML authors to indicate to visiting robots if a document may be indexed, or used to harvest more links. No server administrator action is required.
Note that currently only a few robots implement this.

In this simple example:

a robot should neither index this document, nor analyse it for links.

suzy writes:

you have high expectations as far as i'm concerned.

all kidding aside, let's all join hands together and pray that someone once deemed a "piece of mancrap" can one day evolve into a nice and charming young person. you never know, IT JUST MIGHT HAPPEN! although i don't expect people here to be that forgiving.

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 21:59 (twenty-three years ago)

(I've added the tag to this thread. It only applies to this page, so you still need to edit the title, and some search engines will ignore it, though google shouldn't. i'll add an admin feature so you can set it for any thread)

Graham (graham), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 22:22 (twenty-three years ago)

suggestion, change thread title to:
attention: new LA club nite: designed for Ned !

DJ Martian (djmartian), Wednesday, 26 February 2003 22:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Sounds like a LA Lite Music Club
