electric sound of jim (electricsound), Friday, 28 February 2003 01:28 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm almost more taken by the fact that this Walgreen's is selling an entire holiday for cheap.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 28 February 2003 01:29 (twenty-three years ago)

"XMAS 75% OFF" -- what, do you just get the X?

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 28 February 2003 01:31 (twenty-three years ago)

Dude.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 28 February 2003 01:40 (twenty-three years ago)

Ned in "Dude Where's My Car" shockah?

Leee (Leee), Friday, 28 February 2003 01:41 (twenty-three years ago)

Unlikely.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 28 February 2003 01:43 (twenty-three years ago)

I love this kind of found humor. Also great is deliberate sign graffiti, like the sign I saw on Long Island:

NO ERECTION OF TPENTIS OR OTHER STRUCTURES ON BEACH

felicity (felicity), Friday, 28 February 2003 01:47 (twenty-three years ago)

There was a 'DO NOT PASS' sign around here deliberately changed to 'DO NO ASS,' and though it's obviously a lame sentiment I was cheered by the idea that a bunch of obnoxious 15-year-olds a la the Raunchy Young Lepers or the Icy Hot Stuntaz did it and then had their photo taken beneath it.

In Georgetown there's a place called the Canal Cafe. One night, while we were waiting in line for a movie, my sister noticed that someone had swiped one of the sign's letters -- it now read "Anal Cafe."

j.lu (j.lu), Friday, 28 February 2003 05:59 (twenty-three years ago)

I think it woudl be better if someone changed it from Canal Cafe to Place Where Nude Donkey Die

Mike Hanle y (mike), Friday, 28 February 2003 06:44 (twenty-three years ago)

Die or sleep?

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Friday, 28 February 2003 06:49 (twenty-three years ago)

Well, the canal in question features mule-drawn barges, so it could happen.

j.lu (j.lu), Friday, 28 February 2003 07:05 (twenty-three years ago)

On my street, a sign reading "Post No Bills" has been changed to read "Living Prohibited". It works in German.

Colin Meeder (Mert), Friday, 28 February 2003 09:27 (twenty-three years ago)

Penn Road at the top of caledonian road has had "is" added...

...i'd like to think it was dave q ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Friday, 28 February 2003 10:00 (twenty-three years ago)

This would be a good time to mention the Nagina Tandoori in Dublin.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 28 February 2003 10:15 (twenty-three years ago)

drunx0r, Friday, 28 February 2003 14:37 (twenty-three years ago)

There's a business in Chinatown called Mei Dick.

(Most cited example of "dirty-sounding" Asian-establishment signage -- Portland's Chinese restaurant Hung Far Low.)

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 28 February 2003 14:40 (twenty-three years ago)

There's a Chinese restaurant near my apartment that's just called Ho's.

Nicole (Nicole), Friday, 28 February 2003 14:49 (twenty-three years ago)

We've got the Ho Toy Noodle Company on the outskirts of Chinatown.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 28 February 2003 14:50 (twenty-three years ago)

http://performanceart.net/humor/images/image016.jpg This is in Salem Massachusetts. They have a great t-shirt "I Got it in the Bunghole"

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 28 February 2003 14:55 (twenty-three years ago)

I once saw a sign advertising "Ho-Made Sandwiches."

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Friday, 28 February 2003 15:00 (twenty-three years ago)

'Post no Bills' used to be 'Bill Stickers Will Be Prosecuted'

to which the obvious graf reply is

BILL STICKERS IS INNOCENT

Ed (dali), Friday, 28 February 2003 15:01 (twenty-three years ago)

there's a jewellers here with a sign that says "ears pierced while you wait".

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 28 February 2003 15:02 (twenty-three years ago)

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 28 February 2003 15:10 (twenty-three years ago)

There is this place near my house thats called "Ballard Springs", someone ripped the letters off so it read "Ball Rings" which I thought was great.

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 28 February 2003 15:11 (twenty-three years ago)

My favorite signs:

Wheelchairs and Alligators are a bad mix?

mitch lastnamewithheld (mitchlnw), Friday, 28 February 2003 20:09 (twenty-three years ago)

The 'alligators should beware of hurtling wheelchairs' sign is particularly good.
