I wouldn't go that far, but there have been some very low-key events friends put on -- the record release party for a KUCI benefit disc featuring local techno bods, Windy and Carl at an art gallery, etc. -- that while 'organized' certainly felt much more right than many usual shows.

Speaking personally, I prefer social and musical events to have been organised to a certain extent - this is why I dislike Captain Beefheart and the 1970's in general.

playing at friends houses is always better than playing at flashy venue gigs and dancing at loungeroom raves is way more crazeee fun than dancing with flashy hippies

The only time Ive ever sung in a band in front of anyone (outside of a rehearsal) was at a friends party, it was fun! I did a cocteau twins song and had to make up half the lyrics. Oh dear.
