Free Cable Television C/D?

I was trying to get better reception to watch Nightline last night, got curious and plugged my TV into the cable outlet.... Free Cable! Apparently, I've had it the entire 2 years living at my apartment and never bothered to check.

I haven't had cable TV for 5 years, for fear of it damaging my productivity. Sure, now I have clear reception, History Channel, Discovery, Daily Show, etc... But, I also have the seductive siren of cable television to call me away from reading books, being social, etc. For any good show on television there's 10 others that suck, but I might end up watching anyway just because it's on.

Should I report myself to the cable company, or quit whining and consider myself lucky?

A friend of mine once said: "I firmly believe that I have an unalienable right to free cable."

Just set it to the Cartoon Network or the Food Channel and relax.

The latter. In spite of the fact that it's probably not true, I like to blame the cable company for stuff like that. Too bad for them!

I get free cable, HBO, Showtime. Classic because it's, er, free. Dud because I'd rather be doing anything else but watching TV most evenings.

Borrow a cable modem and see if that works, too.

I used to live next door to a weird body piercer guy that left his television on the cartoon network 24 hours a day. he'd invite me over and talk about banned popeye cartoons that were racially insensitive to slavs. weirdo.

when was the last time you saw a cable dude who looked like he'd been missing meals?

No One: I've already got DSL through my work.

You need a username and password for cable modem service and besides, everyone I know has DSL.

I love when the Cartoon Network plays those insensitive cartoons late at night.

off-topic

When I lived in Montreal I had no TV and I lived in a goofy building. Whenever I'd go drop off my rent cheque, the super wouldn't bother turning off his porn when he came to the door and the TV was in plain view (nevermind that you could hear it from the front door). He'd always invite me over to watch TV, since he knew I didn't have one. He also would invite me over to listen to the then-new Radiohead album OKC.
Somehow, I never felt tempted to take him up on his offer of hospitality.

Oh well.

...everyone I know has DSL.

My connection at home with DSL is faster than the connection at my office.

My friends lived above their landlord (in Somerville, MA) who would get drunk, come upstairs to their apartment, and give them some of the extra porn calendars and mags that he'd accumulated.
