How come I always got red eyes?

Every picture, no matter what, I have glowing red eyes. Why?

the way the flash is reflected off our eyes. on a person, flash photography makes our eyes appear devilish red. this is because the flash reflects off the retina, which is filled with red blood vessels.

This is certainly turning into an exercise in nonhelpfulness isn't it. My friend and I both have demon eyes in this pic and are disappointed cos it'd be a very nice picture without it. So I went thru the package and we have demon eyes in ALL of them. Then I went through a different package and I have demon eyes in all those. in fact, I always do. It's alarming and disturbing - will I have glowing red eyes in my wedding pictures? When I'm 80?

ok so while I'm writing chaki posts something helpful - but how come some people don't have the devil eyes? Is it eye color?

Most digital cameras these days have a feature that reduces red eye. And I'm sure the feature will be around for years to come. So no worries, Ally.

if the person taking the photo is using an SLR and an external flash, have them use a bounce card or bounce it off the ceiling or something

People with blue or green eyes get much more red eye. I have dark brown and rarely do.

It can sometimes help if you don't stare directly into the lens.

Red eye reduction flashes are a big dud in my experience and just make people think you've taken the photo when you haven't.
