So I'm planning to come out to my old home city for a week-plus around the time of the EMP Pop Music Studies Conference or whatever it's called, and I'd love to meet up w/any/all of y'all. Would you be interested in extending the same courtesy? Let's figure it out, shall we? New answers, please!

M Matos (M Matos), Monday, 10 March 2003 09:12 (twenty-three years ago)

EMP's shindig is April 10-13; I'll be there at least a couple days afterward, probably more, haven't made concrete plans yet. I'd think the Friday nite after the conference would work--what about any/all of you? How many are there, anyway?

M Matos (M Matos), Monday, 10 March 2003 09:13 (twenty-three years ago)

[[sniff]]

M Matos (M Matos), Wednesday, 12 March 2003 10:02 (twenty-three years ago)

(He doesn't bite.)

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 12 March 2003 10:25 (twenty-three years ago)

unless you ask [wiggles eyebrows]

M Matos (M Matos), Wednesday, 12 March 2003 10:42 (twenty-three years ago)

(plus you know I'm a vampire etc.)

M Matos (M Matos), Wednesday, 12 March 2003 11:13 (twenty-three years ago)

unless you ask

He's a very polite and considerate vampire.

M Matos (M Matos), Wednesday, 12 March 2003 11:36 (twenty-three years ago)

hey matos. didn't see this. i am here, brian is here, i think jen will be here by that time (??) lyra is here but i think may be moving (??) i'm assuming she won't be in australia that long. uh, er... jess and nancy in olympia, maybe a few i don't know about.

anyways, yes i'm into a meet up.

ron (ron), Wednesday, 12 March 2003 15:13 (twenty-three years ago)

I may actually be arriving that weekend... not 100% sure of my plans yet. But if I am in Seattle by then, count me in.

Jen (nstop), Wednesday, 12 March 2003 16:08 (twenty-three years ago)

Matos is a marvelous man. He's also coming TOO DAMN EARLY for the May thing. Next time. :-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 12 March 2003 16:13 (twenty-three years ago)

i'll try to be there, provided we get some more concrete details down

jess (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 12 March 2003 16:19 (twenty-three years ago)

I should be around! (Didn't see this until now). Keep me updated.

donut bitch (donut), Wednesday, 12 March 2003 18:57 (twenty-three years ago)

great--Jess, you can finally give me that Timbaland set and the 7CD 2002 singles! ;-)

M Matos (M Matos), Wednesday, 12 March 2003 19:37 (twenty-three years ago)

two weeks pass...
So! I'm still interested. Actually, Rocket From The Crypt, The Spits, and the A-Frames are playing the Showbox on 4/12... and while I have a feeling this isn't exactly Matos fare, I'm going to it, and any other visitors who are interested should shout out!

Otherwise, for lunch or dinner or drinking or general meeting up type stuff, I'm in as well, of course. So, who else is in?

donut bitch (donut), Thursday, 27 March 2003 22:06 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm in unless it's Boy's first weekend back in town.

lyra (lyra), Friday, 28 March 2003 03:42 (twenty-three years ago)

aye

ron (ron), Friday, 28 March 2003 03:53 (twenty-three years ago)

bought my tix today. I arrive the 9th, in the evening, and leave around midnight the 18th. I'd like to have a biggish gathering but if folks can't make it and want to get coffee or something outside of that instead I'm certainly amenable. I haven't been to Seattle in two years and I'm really excited to come back! also, I don't have any good suggestions for places to do this at, so can any of you generate some ideas? thanks, Matos

M Matos (M Matos), Friday, 28 March 2003 06:59 (twenty-three years ago)

yo, i'm still down, but dates and times are up to you lot

also, an "all ages venue" is preferred if you want me to bring the old lady

jess (dubplatestyle), Friday, 28 March 2003 07:10 (twenty-three years ago)

Hey, what about Sit & Spin? That's pretty all-ages, and I believe there's beer (and wine?) available for those interested in drinking. Plus we can do our laundry!

M Matos (M Matos), Friday, 28 March 2003 07:14 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm still up for Friday, btw, at 7-ish (before the crowds get there to stake out territory)

M Matos (M Matos), Friday, 28 March 2003 07:16 (twenty-three years ago)

sit & spin might be already kaput. needs investigation. i'm pretty sure they were at least eliminating the live shows end of things. and it wouldn't make much sense to have it open otherwise, (??)

ron (ron), Friday, 28 March 2003 07:20 (twenty-three years ago)

a travesty :(

ron (ron), Friday, 28 March 2003 07:21 (twenty-three years ago)

hahah, jess likes 'em 'all ages'

James Blount (James Blount), Friday, 28 March 2003 07:24 (twenty-three years ago)

something something r kelly something something but over 18 cuz i'm not a perv

jess (dubplatestyle), Friday, 28 March 2003 07:27 (twenty-three years ago)

sniff

ron (ron), Friday, 28 March 2003 07:28 (twenty-three years ago)

I was afraid something like this would happen if I picked a place--Seattle spots close more quickly than NYC's. damn it. any other ideas?

M Matos (M Matos), Friday, 28 March 2003 07:29 (twenty-three years ago)

Would just a dinner type place be OK? Or does there have to be a show? Cuz we could all go to the Elysian Brewery. Different types of food, not too expensive, veggie friendly (which may only be my concern, but who knows), and allows all ages (afaik). And they have decent beer and wine options.

Justin Harris and Jacob London are DJing across the street at Chop Suey later that night. (Also worth noting, the Notwist are playing Chop Suey on the 15th, and ILM's favorite band ever, Of Montreal is playing there on the 16th.. I'll try to dig up other events happening in town between the 10th and 17th for ya, Matos)

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 28 March 2003 08:55 (twenty-three years ago)

not sure how "show" entered into this--I want somewhere with room for six or seven people (that I know of, more or less) to sit down and talk en masse w/o having to get reservations. this can mean coffeehouse as well as "bar." but the Elysian sounds decent; I certainly wouldn't mind getting dinner w/you guys.

M Matos (M Matos), Friday, 28 March 2003 09:05 (twenty-three years ago)

If you guys are especially into a dinner thing, and want to swing by ma' hood near Fremont, we could go to Tawon Thai.. decent place, plenty of options for all. Also, rumor has it a Puerto Rican place is soon opening up in Fremont... (Mmmmm, veggie alcapurrias). The bars in Fremont still have mostly obnoxious frattish clientele, but across the bridge is the Nickerson Saloon which is a little quieter and remote.

(M, you'll be shocked as to how much Belltown resembles a ghost town these days. There's just not much going on there anymore, aside from that one block with the Crocodile, Lava Lounge, Wall of Sound, Confounded Books, Shorty's, Mama's, etc.)

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 28 March 2003 09:17 (twenty-three years ago)

db, i probably won't--have heard much about this very thing from various friends in town already over the past couple years.

M Matos (M Matos), Friday, 28 March 2003 09:23 (twenty-three years ago)

i like the elysian just fine and i also like the nickerson saloon (i think - that's the one next to ponti and the funeral home right?)

drinking/ shows are ok with me, but by no means a priority. it sounds like we should get together on the early side, then whomever wants to can go out later as well.

luring jess and nancy into town is a must!

ron (ron), Saturday, 29 March 2003 01:23 (twenty-three years ago)

OK--Friday 4/11 is not going to be possible. I realized that I'm going to be busy w/EMP stuff all weekend (till the 13th) so the 4/14-18 are the days I can do this. SO...since Friday the 18th is when I leave town and I'd like to have a less finite amount of time to hang w/y'all, how does, I dunno, Thursday night, the 17th, sound? place still tbd but we can pin the date down there. OK for you guys?

M Matos (M Matos), Saturday, 29 March 2003 21:44 (twenty-three years ago)

AOK

ron (ron), Saturday, 29 March 2003 22:29 (twenty-three years ago)

Fine with me.. (unless work cracks the whip with me too early on.)

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 29 March 2003 23:22 (twenty-three years ago)

Notwithstanding any other ilxor visitors in seattle who are free on 4/12... i'm still down with Fapping then too.

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 29 March 2003 23:22 (twenty-three years ago)

i need to check with the lady to see what her educational schedule is like this season, but that should be cool for us

jess (dubplatestyle), Sunday, 30 March 2003 01:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Any of those nights should be good for me. :)

lyra (lyra), Sunday, 30 March 2003 02:59 (twenty-three years ago)

OK, let's get this wrapped up so I can get back to the heavy workload I have to finish before Wednesday afternoon, when I leave NYC for Seatown.

DATE: Thursday, 17 April
TIME: 7-ish
PLACE: ??? I NEED SUGGESTIONS STILL

M Matos (M Matos), Saturday, 5 April 2003 10:47 (twenty-three years ago)

jess, can you and nancy come? i think we should just plan on a dinner spot in any case. i'm groovy with the thai place brian mentioned. or anywhere for that matter

ron (ron), Sunday, 6 April 2003 02:08 (twenty-three years ago)

Seems like there are plenty of options, Matos. Is there a reason you need to know right before you leave though? I emailed you my number, and I'm sure you have other contacts here. So worse comes to worse, we'll all hookup that day or before.

Would this be an official thing with flyers, booty dancers, and chicken bears?

Either way, I don't mind committing to a place right now, if it's alright with everybody. Wanna make it Tawon Thai in Fremont? Or somewhere in Lower Queen Anne near the EMP, like Sam's Sushi or that mexican place? (Pico's(?))

donut bitch (donut), Sunday, 6 April 2003 03:02 (twenty-three years ago)

Lower Queen Anne sounds grate. Hell, a Pagliacci FAP wouldn't necessarily be a bad idea! (at least as a pre-meetup place before moving onto other terrain or something)

M Matos (M Matos), Monday, 7 April 2003 13:07 (twenty-three years ago)

Actually that sounds like the best idea. That Pagliacci's is pretty central to the area, so we could all gauge our tastes at the time, etc. etc.

(I'll say right now, my new job often doesn't allow me to get back to Seattle until around 7:30pm or 8pm... now I could arrange to work earlier hours that day. But I might have a deadline then, which means I'd have to stay late, and then come to FAP REALLY late.. I hope that doesn't happen. but we'll see..)

donut bitch (donut), Monday, 7 April 2003 14:59 (twenty-three years ago)

OKAY: here is the deal. nancy has class on thursday, which doesn't end until 5(?)...so the earliest we'd be able to get up there is 7:30 or so, based on traffic, busses, etc. also, i'm not sure if she has to work the next day or not. so let me confer with her today (THESE ARE THE FINALIZED DATES AND TIMES, RIGHT?) and i'll post as soon as i know "the deal."

jess (dubplatestyle), Monday, 7 April 2003 15:59 (twenty-three years ago)

lower queen anne? hey! that's my hood, yo. i heart sam's sushi. and, there's a new thai place called - (hehe...) phuket. yeah, i know it's pronounced 'poo-ket' but 'fuckit' lends itself to more comedy. pagliacci's is okay but the mecca's better.

j.a.e., Monday, 7 April 2003 18:53 (twenty-three years ago)

OK then, Lower Queen Anne Pagliacci (I used to work there!). I'll get there at 7pm and y'all can arrive between then and let's say 8 or so, and we can maybe move on from there if/when need be. if you're interested in meeting up but can't make it there/then, just email me privately anytime between now and the day of and we'll take care of it.

M Matos (M Matos), Monday, 7 April 2003 18:57 (twenty-three years ago)

(oh and M, i know i still owe you a return email, but if i can't make it to the fap, i'm gonna still find some way of getting yr cd's to you. maybe mail them to one of the nice seattlites and they can pass them off.)

jess (dubplatestyle), Monday, 7 April 2003 19:03 (twenty-three years ago)

if all else fails, Jess, I can come out to Oly--lived in Seattle two years but never did visit there and always meant to. maybe I can do that sometime before the FAP, like earlier in the week?

M Matos (M Matos), Monday, 7 April 2003 19:07 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah let's see. i'll know better by tonight once n gets home.

jess (dubplatestyle), Monday, 7 April 2003 19:08 (twenty-three years ago)

hey jess could i beg a cd of the scritti politti stuff of you? pretty please? :-)

ron (ron), Monday, 7 April 2003 20:34 (twenty-three years ago)

Heavens! That sounds fine! I just didn't want to be sitting in a Pagliacci's while big bright things go kablooey ;-)

donut bitch (donut), Wednesday, 2 July 2003 00:06 (twenty-two years ago)

we probably can't bbq, though there is one available; I'm guessing it'll be taken up by others. but still, fun to be had et al.

M Matos (M Matos), Wednesday, 2 July 2003 00:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Cool- let me know where we're meeting up. :-)

lyra (lyra), Wednesday, 2 July 2003 01:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Let me know too. We might be doing something this weekend, & plus I have social anxiety sometimes, but who knows, I could come.

Layna Andersen (Layna Andersen), Wednesday, 2 July 2003 02:15 (twenty-two years ago)

so last night I looked out the patio and realized, wow, great view of downtown, every tall bldg you'd want to see in crystal-clear formation, and no fucking way we're seeing any fireworks. so I say we go to my place *after* f-works and have a few beers/whatever. sound ok?

M Matos (M Matos), Wednesday, 2 July 2003 16:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Sounds good! What corner streets are you, M.? I figure it would be just a few blocks to the bay to get a good view anyway. Would Pike Place Market be a good place to see 'em?

donut bitch (donut), Wednesday, 2 July 2003 16:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I wonder if it would! I'm on 2nd between Battery and Wall, pretty swank. (MAN I lucked out...)

M Matos (M Matos), Wednesday, 2 July 2003 17:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Matos isn't nude enough in that photo.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 2 July 2003 17:46 (twenty-two years ago)

I will be somewhere else near Puget Sound on the fourth -- have a drink for me!

Chris P (Chris P), Wednesday, 2 July 2003 17:57 (twenty-two years ago)

so then...anyone who wants to go to the Market for fireworks and then back to mine for drinks should email me private-like and we'll figure out more specific plans. hope y'all can make it!

M Matos (M Matos), Wednesday, 2 July 2003 22:11 (twenty-two years ago)

Will do! M., my host account will be down for the next day or so, so count me in, pleeeeez. (or if it still remains down by Thurs. eve, I'll shout here)

donut bitch (donut), Wednesday, 2 July 2003 22:43 (twenty-two years ago)

!!! DB, you know more about the host account thing than I do, then -- tell me what's up with that.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 2 July 2003 22:53 (twenty-two years ago)

(Psst, Ned, R*y C*ll*n* sent out a message two days ago on koochie tawk saying koochie.orgy would be down for a day or two)

donut bitch (donut), Wednesday, 2 July 2003 23:07 (twenty-two years ago)

OK! So, when and where are we first meeting? Are we gonna meet before the fireworks? Or after?

donut bitch (donut), Thursday, 3 July 2003 21:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not sure what you want to do re: fireworks. and I asked people who want to come over after to email me, and no one has yet.

M Matos (M Matos), Thursday, 3 July 2003 21:16 (twenty-two years ago)

hmmm. Market, eh? would getting together around 9-ish somewhere near there be too late or would it be doable?

M Matos (M Matos), Thursday, 3 July 2003 21:21 (twenty-two years ago)

That sounds fine to me. Where in the Market area though, like in that little park just north overseeing 99 and the bay?

donut bitch (donut), Thursday, 3 July 2003 21:29 (twenty-two years ago)

can we be more specific? don't know 99 offhand, is it a restaurant or something?

M Matos (M Matos), Thursday, 3 July 2003 21:56 (twenty-two years ago)

99 = state route 99 = The Alaskan Viaduct expressway.

donut bitch (donut), Thursday, 3 July 2003 21:59 (twenty-two years ago)

It's just west of the corner of 1st and (I think) Lenora.

donut bitch (donut), Thursday, 3 July 2003 22:01 (twenty-two years ago)

The park, that is...

donut bitch (donut), Thursday, 3 July 2003 22:01 (twenty-two years ago)

that's doable.

OK then. LISTEN UP SEATTLE FAP CREW. First and Lenora, between 8:30 and 9pm tomorrow night (July 4, 2003). I will be wearing a bright orange button-down t-shirt and I wear glasses. I am big and I am a geek and I am a big geek. Fun to be had. Be there or else. If you can't and you wish to swing by my SWANK LUXURY-AS-FUCK APT after you watch supersized bottle rockets blow up in the sky (and you know you do), email me personally and we'll figure something out. NOTE: do not email be after 5pm tomorrow (July 4, 2003) because if you do you will be shit out of luck. Thank you and good night.

M Matos (M Matos), Thursday, 3 July 2003 22:09 (twenty-two years ago)

(Well, the park is actually west of 1st and Lenora, is that what you meant?)

donut bitch (donut), Thursday, 3 July 2003 22:19 (twenty-two years ago)

(yeah, whatever)

M Matos (M Matos), Thursday, 3 July 2003 22:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Matos, check your email (yahoo or sweekly)

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 4 July 2003 22:18 (twenty-two years ago)

http://www.friendster.com/viewfullphoto.jsp?id=1870612

M Matos (M Matos), Friday, 4 July 2003 22:24 (twenty-two years ago)

well, that didn't work! anyway, I do hope to see...who said they were interested again? Ron, Layna, Lyra?...you guys all there tonite.

M Matos (M Matos), Friday, 4 July 2003 22:26 (twenty-two years ago)

this be my friendster profile. Look for this guy in that park north of Pike Place 'round 8:30pm or so!

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 4 July 2003 22:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Mine be here. Ditto except I'll be wearing eye-frightening bright orange, making me easy to spot in a crowd.

M Matos (M Matos), Friday, 4 July 2003 22:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Shit, I'd like to make it, but circumstances keep me from doing so. Hope a good time is had by all, and maybe I can catch everyone the next time around.

JS Williams (js williams), Friday, 4 July 2003 23:53 (twenty-two years ago)

How were the fireworks from the market? I missed most of them tonight trying to calm down my puppy-the past two years he was fine, but this year he flipped, poor guy. :-(

lyra (lyra), Saturday, 5 July 2003 06:07 (twenty-two years ago)

We missed you! :(

I think most of the fireworks were in Myrtle Edwards park, so from the Totem park, it was really... quiet! All you could hear were the oohs and aaahs from the gathering, and that's it. It was the tamest fireworks experience I've ever experienced... which is funny given that the Union Lake/Gasworks Park scene was completely hog, wild, and noisy the last two years I was there for July 4th fireworks.

Heavens! Word to all the NYC homies who all called me right before the fireworks started ;-)

donut bitch (donut), Saturday, 5 July 2003 07:14 (twenty-two years ago)

If nothing else, I saw the Seattle fireworks as well, although I was on the other side of the Sound. (Near as I can tell, I saw 5 or 6 fireworks displays from different towns around the Sound.)

Chris P (Chris P), Monday, 7 July 2003 01:07 (twenty-two years ago)

So are there plans for another FAP before the summer is over? :-)

lyra (lyra), Monday, 7 July 2003 02:43 (twenty-two years ago)

yes. probably soon, say mid-late July. does that work for y'all?

M Matos (M Matos), Monday, 7 July 2003 02:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm FAPdicted at this point. More hits, please.

donut bitch (donut), Monday, 7 July 2003 05:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh yes, Seattle FAP again soon, please. I was indeed out of town this past weekend, but I'll be around the rest of the month.

Jen (nstop), Monday, 7 July 2003 07:58 (twenty-two years ago)

How 'bout y'all go to the Croc on Saturday to see (Smog) and myself?

hstencil, Monday, 7 July 2003 09:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Man, if I wasn't already going to Alaska this weekend, I would. (I think there's a higher power preventing me and Jen from attending the same FAP since Ned came by and warped the polarities around here.. haha)

donut bitch (donut), Monday, 7 July 2003 15:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Part of my mystic ways.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 7 July 2003 16:01 (twenty-two years ago)

If it weren't my bandmate's birthday on Saturday, and if we didn't have a show that day, then I would consider going up and seeing Smog on Saturday and then seeing him again on Sunday. But that won't be happening.

Chris P (Chris P), Monday, 7 July 2003 16:09 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm seeing Smog--anyone else?

M Matos (M Matos), Monday, 7 July 2003 19:15 (twenty-two years ago)

This weekend, I'm flying to NJ to see my brand-new niece. (6 lbs & 18"! Her name is Katie!) But the *next* weekend or one after that, I should be in town.

lyra (lyra), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 03:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Yo, I'll be at Smog. And at some of the Capitol Hill Block Party before that, surely.

Jen (nstop), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 03:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Certainly doesn't hold a candle to the maelstrom of NYC FAP fotos, but here's a good one of meself and Matosself...

donut bitch (donut), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 03:34 (twenty-two years ago)

The American answer to the Pet Shop Boys, somehow.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 04:24 (twenty-two years ago)

with very crooked glasses that make my face look fucked up

M Matos (M Matos), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 04:28 (twenty-two years ago)

That's a great pic!

Mr. Diamond (diamond), Tuesday, 8 July 2003 04:29 (twenty-two years ago)

You two are so cute!
