teenage soap opera + after-school special X Canadian public TV= CLASSIC

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 12 March 2003 16:48 (twenty-three years ago)

God, I remember that. Wow. That was ages ago. I feel old now. Thank you.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Wednesday, 12 March 2003 16:58 (twenty-three years ago)

Dud if only because it was like coming home from school and then having to watch my day again. I did go to high school with a girl who fucked Joey Jeremiah, though! That was classic. We asked her friends if she said if he left his hat on.

Bryan (Bryan), Wednesday, 12 March 2003 17:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Has anyone seen the new episodes? Spike and Snake get MARRIED!!!

rosemary (rosemary), Wednesday, 12 March 2003 17:02 (twenty-three years ago)

Totally classic. And the season ending movie was so good. It's been on CBC a few times over the years, and I think I've seen it four or five times.
Any episodes involving the zit remedy or the zit remedy's song are totally classic. The show's theme song was classic too. Man, I think I loved that show too much.

Jonathan, Wednesday, 12 March 2003 17:03 (twenty-three years ago)

I watched a bit of the first two episodes of the new ones, but missed all of them after that. Spike and Snake are married?! That's crazy.

Jonathan, Wednesday, 12 March 2003 17:04 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh, and the young woman who played Tessa Campinelli (who in the movie, fucks Joey) went to Western while I was there. I remember the paper wanting to contact her to talk about the show (and sex with Joey), but I don't think they ever did.

Jonathan, Wednesday, 12 March 2003 17:05 (twenty-three years ago)

I only vaguely remember the old series, but there is a new version of it that comes on the Noggin channel in the US. I have never watched it, but after seeing a million promos for it while watching Daria or Pete & Pete, I can safely say dud. Especially because it comes on Noggin, the entire channel being unwatchable now.

eight years pass...

RIP Wheels

smash williams, Thursday, 16 February 2012 19:31 (fourteen years ago)

Too many things don't add up here...no one involved with the show knew about this for five years? And dying of "natural causes" at 35?

Let A Man Come In And Do The Cop Porn (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Thursday, 16 February 2012 19:34 (fourteen years ago)

Yeah its very sad. Elsewhere it mentions he struggled with alcohol problems.

smash williams, Thursday, 16 February 2012 21:23 (fourteen years ago)

The facebook group mentioned in that article seems to indicate they were waiting on confirmation of the death... maybe suggesting he'd gone missing for a long time perhaps? So strange it was kept so completely from the media all this time.

Lindsay NAGL (Trayce), Friday, 17 February 2012 04:44 (fourteen years ago)

the whole thing is fucked up.

Porto for Pyros (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Friday, 17 February 2012 04:50 (fourteen years ago)

It really is! Its just utterly confusing.

Lindsay NAGL (Trayce), Friday, 17 February 2012 04:58 (fourteen years ago)

fun fact: Snake is a friend of mine's neighbour!

Porto for Pyros (The Cursed Return of the Dastardly Thermo Thinwall), Friday, 17 February 2012 05:03 (fourteen years ago)

WHAT?!

Laura Lucy Lynn (La Lechera), Friday, 17 February 2012 05:49 (fourteen years ago)

Oh no. Poor Wheels. Also, weird about the 5 year thing.

My best friend in college hung out with Wheels once, he randomly showed up at a friend's party and he stayed and hung out all night just talking to everyone. Like a weird low-level Bill Murray kinda thing.
I think by the end of the night they were all, uh do you have somewhere to go? Totally random.

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 17 February 2012 05:53 (fourteen years ago)

Wow. That's quite a story!
He always kinda reminded me of the first boy I ever had an insane crush on, and to think that he's dead is just...I dunno. Awful.

Laura Lucy Lynn (La Lechera), Friday, 17 February 2012 06:13 (fourteen years ago)

Does this not break your heart?!

“He was a quiet guy when we were off set, but full of energy, very bright-eyed,” Woods said in a phone interview with the Star from California. “We’re all pretty shocked about the news. We’re saddened by it. Neil was a great guy and a great light.”

Laura Lucy Lynn (La Lechera), Friday, 17 February 2012 06:17 (fourteen years ago)

Zit Remedy 4 Ever, imo

Janet Snakehole (VegemiteGrrl), Friday, 17 February 2012 06:30 (fourteen years ago)

keep on rollin' ;_;

are you ready for a little spittle? (electricsound), Friday, 17 February 2012 06:51 (fourteen years ago)

wheels wheels wheels OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Laura Lucy Lynn (La Lechera), Saturday, 18 February 2012 05:37 (fourteen years ago)

So apparently he was found dead in a rooming house by the police back in 2007 and declared dead but they didnt bother telling anyone he knew? Which sounds mega fucked up.

Lindsay NAGL (Trayce), Saturday, 18 February 2012 06:39 (fourteen years ago)

Sad.

Laura Lucy Lynn (La Lechera), Saturday, 18 February 2012 14:40 (fourteen years ago)

Whenever I tried to watch Degrassi, it was always the episode where they have to look after an egg. So I've seen one episode, around five times.

zanana rebozo (abanana), Wednesday, 6 November 2013 12:45 (twelve years ago)

six years pass...

FYI all episodes up on YouTube

A True White Kid that can Jump (Granny Dainger), Wednesday, 19 August 2020 04:30 (five years ago)

Recently rewatched all of Junior and High original episodes and the first FIVE seasons of Next Generation. Season 1 of NG was ok, 2 abysmal, 3-4-5 a steady decline in writing and chapter and 6 (esp the new intro) represents a betrayal along the lines of when Sassy magazine was bought by YM and lost its soul. Atrocious. Maybe it got better but I wasn’t sticking around to find out.

weird woman in a bar (La Lechera), Wednesday, 19 August 2020 12:44 (five years ago)

When the characters started talking like quippy tv teens it was like they had all been replaced by clones.

weird woman in a bar (La Lechera), Wednesday, 19 August 2020 12:45 (five years ago)

The episode of Next Generation that revolves around one of the female characters using her sexuality to entice the boys in her class and culminates in her trying to expose her panty-less bottom by putting food in a class fish tank is one of the most stunning things I have ever watched. Same goes for the NG episode about child abuse that features a father who straight-up turns into Jack Nicholson in The Shining and smashes down a door with a golf club

beamish13, Wednesday, 19 August 2020 13:50 (five years ago)

I was wrong; she was feeding frogs in class

beamish13, Wednesday, 19 August 2020 13:51 (five years ago)

There are so many examples - it’s a farce compared to the original series.

weird woman in a bar (La Lechera), Wednesday, 19 August 2020 16:02 (five years ago)

The only redeeming quality was realizing how monstrously fucked up teen entertainment was in the early 00 s. That was primo “Lindsay Lohan hot feast &legal!!!” time 🤮🤮🤮

weird woman in a bar (La Lechera), Wednesday, 19 August 2020 16:03 (five years ago)

Oops typo she was some other adj not feast

weird woman in a bar (La Lechera), Wednesday, 19 August 2020 16:03 (five years ago)

“Ready” iirc

It was like Jeffrey Epstein was in control of the writers room.
