Bubble Bobble

It started with Pac Man on the palm pilot and since this uncharacteristic video game obsession of mine has turned to Bubble Bobble on an iNes emulator and a Bub and Bob shareware fling. I am looking for Bubble Bobble MacMame, but I'm not looking very hard.

Video games are frustrating. I got up to level 39 in Bubble Bobble just now and decided to fucking quit because it was just getting too damn difficult.

Video Games that have several levels and don't reach impossible levels of difficulty = classic. There's 100 Bubble Bobble levels, 61 of which I will never see.

BEST. GAME. EVER. I've been all the way to level 72, lesser ninjas tremble before my fearsome kung fu

You should keep playing Bubble Bobble! The end boss is way cool. Also, you should get the real sequel to Bubble Bobble, which is Rainbow Islands, not Bubble Bobble 2. It's neat 'cause you, like, cast rainbows instead of blowing bubbles. and the levels are more than one screen; instead they just go up and up. fun.

Rainbow Islands one of the best games of all time - there are so many amazing secrets and bonuses in the game e.g. if you collect all 7 gems in order of colour (starting with red) it unlocks secret levels and stuff - this is nigh on impossible to do tho. and i just hate the way you can't heat the bosses unless you have Triple Rainbow power either, unnngh

also SEARCH - Liquid Kids from the the team behind Bubble Bobble and Rainbow Islands, quite possibly the cutest game ever

There are more then 100 levels in Bubble Bobble aren't there? 13 extra levels to get the good ending, or is that BB2?

I forgot all about this game! So classic. I certainly remember more than 100 levels.

you twee fuckers need to get some Bionic Commando action in yr system and spend days, weeks, months thinking abt how cool it would be to have an extending grappling hook on one arm.

well on the one hand shooter games are lame beyond my poor power to describe lameness, but on the other hand Bionic Commando is a wicked-ass name

I've finished the game, so there. Getting into those special dungeons with all the gems still gives me the chills.

The game music is absolutely infectious. I'm humming it right now.

One of the weirdest things about this already weird game is the multiple endings! What kind of crazy game requires you to have two people playing to get the best ending?

Vinnie (vprabhu), Monday, 17 March 2003 04:11 (twenty-three years ago)

Love this game. Love the music, even though it always makes me think of the Beatles' "Her Majesty". I'm not terribly good at it, though, and I've never played with a 2nd player, alas. I think I got somewhere around level 50, though.

me and my mate used to play BB all the time, we would get to the last level, (thats fuckin' teamwork), but we could never finish it. I never got into it as a single player game though.

Fuzzy (Fuzzy), Monday, 17 March 2003 10:11 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah what other games were good 2-players on the nes? bb was the only one that sprang to mind

zemko (bob), Monday, 17 March 2003 10:25 (twenty-three years ago)

(haha battletoads!!)

zemko (bob), Monday, 17 March 2003 10:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Battletoads and Double Dragon.

Bubble Bobble is one of the few pricey games for the NES (along with Zelda yawn yawn etc). Bugger!

Sarah (starry), Monday, 17 March 2003 10:30 (twenty-three years ago)

ah yes battletoads. i had that for gameboy too, and that one stage where you had to run away from a falling rock was RIDICULOUSLY difficult.
