I really do.

RJG (RJG), Wednesday, 19 March 2003 17:37 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah, shagging cherie blair. uck.

ken c, Wednesday, 19 March 2003 18:14 (twenty-three years ago)

really?

if he didn't support this war it would have damaged the legitimacy of bush's actions even more.

j fail (cenotaph), Wednesday, 19 March 2003 18:33 (twenty-three years ago)

why do you feel sorry for him?

H (Heruy), Wednesday, 19 March 2003 23:12 (twenty-three years ago)

< nobrow>I kinda feel sorry for him, too- he actually does seem like he thinks he's right whenever I see him on TV. Bush usually just looks oblivious, like he's impatient for all this crap to be over so he can get back to his leisure time; Azenar and Barroso look swarmy.

Daniel_Rf (Daniel_Rf), Wednesday, 19 March 2003 23:46 (twenty-three years ago)

WGBH Boston's up in this bitch. Next week's
Frontline: "Blair's War"
watch and learn.

j.a.e, Thursday, 20 March 2003 00:21 (twenty-three years ago)

i do actually think blair thinks he is doing the right thing but that is why i really don't feel sorry for him. if he'd gotten dragged into something he did not believe in due to a treaty (gee, remember treaties, when they actually had something to do with how the world worked) then i would be a little more sympathetic but as it stands, he has chosen a stance he knew would be unpopular and as i disagree with him don't see why he deserves sympathy.

H (Heruy), Thursday, 20 March 2003 01:54 (twenty-three years ago)

He's a Man Who Loves Too Much stuck in an abusive relationship with Dubya, still going back to him thinking he can reform him when anyone could see he's just gonna get dicked around some more.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Thursday, 20 March 2003 02:02 (twenty-three years ago)

bush wants to put a tory in office. he doesn't give a shit about tony blair, no more than he gave a shit about his other "friends" like vladimir putin or vicente fox (both of whom he's ass-fucked). at least putin and fox seem resolved to not be fucked in the ass by the Monkey King again -- if blair shows the same resolve, then maybe i'll feel sorry for him.

Tad (llamasfur), Thursday, 20 March 2003 02:06 (twenty-three years ago)

bush wants to put a tory in office.

I wouldn't go that far.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 20 March 2003 02:07 (twenty-three years ago)

blair is a tory

gaz (gaz), Thursday, 20 March 2003 02:10 (twenty-three years ago)

In the short term Blair will come out looking good from this war... so will Bush. I wouldn't feel too sorry for him.

fletrejet, Thursday, 20 March 2003 02:24 (twenty-three years ago)

I hope the fuckers will come out looking good.

B.Rad (Brad), Thursday, 20 March 2003 02:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Feel sorry for me instead.

Leee (Leee), Thursday, 20 March 2003 06:42 (twenty-three years ago)

bush doesn't care about legitimacy. blair's got to go along and kep quiet about his tempering of the situation otherwise he's to turn it into a public row, and blair'll get called french, and we'd all be knackared. rock and a hard place.

matthew james (matthew james), Thursday, 20 March 2003 12:20 (twenty-three years ago)

Save your sympathy for others.

the pinefox, Thursday, 20 March 2003 12:56 (twenty-three years ago)

I feel sorry for him too. Having to wave those three hairs across his bald forehead every morning must take a lot of effort...

ChristineSH (chrissie1068), Thursday, 20 March 2003 16:26 (twenty-three years ago)

I feel less sorry for him now.

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 22 March 2003 19:20 (twenty-three years ago)

Did you feel sorry for Margaret Thatcher when she got kicked out in 1990?

Gatinha (rwillmsen), Saturday, 22 March 2003 19:41 (twenty-three years ago)

I was nine.

probably/probably not.

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 22 March 2003 19:56 (twenty-three years ago)

He looks vague and aged, on the verge of some collapse. I can't think what I'd have done, in the same situation.

Gatinha (rwillmsen), Saturday, 22 March 2003 21:32 (twenty-three years ago)

I do remember feeling a bit sorry for Margaret Thatcher when she got into her car to leave Downing Street and looked to burst into tears. I was only 12, though.

caitlin (caitlin), Sunday, 23 March 2003 10:11 (twenty-three years ago)

I feel sorry for any man who doesn't let himself get a good night's rest. But then I'm me, I don't give a shit abt reelection.

Millar (Millar), Sunday, 23 March 2003 10:16 (twenty-three years ago)

i've changed my mind. i like living in the future.

gaz (gaz), Sunday, 23 March 2003 10:19 (twenty-three years ago)

three months pass...
I still can't get a handle on the seriousness or otherwise of the calls for him to step down.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 14 July 2003 00:08 (twenty-two years ago)

there are really calls?

I feel silly for tony blair.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 14 July 2003 04:48 (twenty-two years ago)

The Nipper was painfully OTM up there...

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 14 July 2003 07:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes RJG - Short and Cook.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 14 July 2003 08:20 (twenty-two years ago)

i don't.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 14 July 2003 09:28 (twenty-two years ago)

'shagging cherie blair'

I bet alot of dyke sex goes on in that house! What about that New Age chick she used to shower with? Or Hilary Clinton even?

dave q, Monday, 14 July 2003 09:52 (twenty-two years ago)

I, perhaps foolishly, made a bet (not with William Hill or anything) the other night that these are the last few weeks of the Blair premiership. I think he'll be gone by late September. I really do feel this will bring him down.

Whether it makes any difference to things across the Atlantic I'm not sure - whether it's a big depression in the trampoline causing the marbles to roll or, er, they cut the elastic and balance on the frame. Before dragging it out of the gym and setting it on fire.

Michael Jones (MichaelJ), Monday, 14 July 2003 12:20 (twenty-two years ago)

I think the majority of the parliamentary Labour party is either a) too scared that the end of Blair will bring the entire government crashing down, or b) too ambitious to be seen to be publically plotting against him to let that happen.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 14 July 2003 12:25 (twenty-two years ago)

God, he really is the new Thatcher.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 14 July 2003 13:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Jesus, that's unpleasant.

RickyT (RickyT), Monday, 14 July 2003 13:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Yes RJG - Short and Cook.

I really didn't think this was robin cook for four or five seconds.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 14 July 2003 13:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Ally's been flexing some serious political muscle since you've been away.

N. (nickdastoor), Monday, 14 July 2003 13:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I hope g. galloway gets the jail and cookie can replace him and fix the multiple occupancy rules. although, george is no ally of tony's and I don't think ally is either. but I'd choose kelvin over britain, too.

RJG (RJG), Monday, 14 July 2003 13:44 (twenty-two years ago)

three years pass...

Stereotypically, in American hip-hop culture, a small amount of malt liquor is poured onto the ground as a libation or sacrifice, commemorating a dead friend or relative.

That one guy that quit, Wednesday, 27 June 2007 08:22 (eighteen years ago)

jergïns, Wednesday, 27 June 2007 08:38 (eighteen years ago)

He almost made me laugh yesterday, when he was hanging out with Arnie.

nathalie, Wednesday, 27 June 2007 09:34 (eighteen years ago)

Jesus, he's not exactly a prize either. I'd say they're well suited.

accentmonkey, Wednesday, 27 June 2007 09:34 (eighteen years ago)

I'd rather do Cherie than Tony.

Noodle Vague, Wednesday, 27 June 2007 09:38 (eighteen years ago)

maybe they have an open relationship.

darraghmac, Wednesday, 27 June 2007 09:38 (eighteen years ago)

I sure as fuck hope not. I can picture Tony having sex without having a gagging reflex. Cherie on the other hand...

nathalie, Wednesday, 27 June 2007 09:41 (eighteen years ago)

I really don't want to picture her gagging reflex thanks.

NickB, Wednesday, 27 June 2007 09:48 (eighteen years ago)

oh shit I shoulda said he was the cheshire cat

RJG, Wednesday, 27 June 2007 11:52 (eighteen years ago)

I know he's been a serious figure in US politics for quite a while now, but as a non-American, it still felt vaguely surreal when Blair was doing his press conference thing with Arnie...

When Arnie started with "Thank you for inviting me Prime Minister Bleer", I could easily imagine it was going to be followed by Arnie becoming increasingly annoyed with Blair's inaction in the face of an alien threat, culminating in an epic saving-of-the-world with only a rocket launcher.

On another note, I remain quite excited by the idea of Gordon Brown as Prime Minister, but I fear it will only be a while before I am disenchanted. Still, surely anything is better than Cameron and his lot?

AlanSmithee, Wednesday, 27 June 2007 12:14 (eighteen years ago)

Yes - even centre-right is preferable to extreme right, though that "choice" speaks sad volumes about British politics as of now.

Marcello Carlin, Wednesday, 27 June 2007 12:29 (eighteen years ago)

The Poodle has been neutered.

Dr Morbius, Wednesday, 27 June 2007 18:58 (eighteen years ago)

Why should you feel sorry for him? He's got his dream job now - ie all that Messianic fervour stuff about making the world a better place without any of that running the country stuff getting in the way.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 27 June 2007 19:09 (eighteen years ago)

I have to say, folks, live with George Bush as your president for a lousy year and you'd be GAGGING to get Blair back.

mitya, Thursday, 28 June 2007 04:58 (eighteen years ago)

that's very astute

RJG, Thursday, 28 June 2007 06:05 (eighteen years ago)

Good work, Graun. Mightily impressed that you managed to get as high-profile a source as Timeout's film editor to comment on the story.

Quaid... is thought to have beaten Russell Crowe, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Alec Baldwin and Tim Robbins to the part of Bubba.

Quaid makes more sense in that context. PSH? Really?
