I used to want any English club to do well in Europe. I still would want any club to do well.. except Arsenal. I don't know where this antipathy has come from. It's odd.

But the better English clubs do, the more places available in the two competitions for English clubs - it's because of their success that 4th place is worth a Champions' League slot, which might fall to your club this year, Dr C.

I am hoping that English clubs do so well that lots more teams get in, as Bristol Rovers are still not quite in contention for European football.
