Fat Girls and Feeders on BBC1

Did anyone see this? About men who 'grow' their wives to unimagine propotions?

Samson, Friday, 28 March 2003 14:51 (twenty-three years ago)

Disturbing images of a 59 stone woman from America being placed in the same position by her husband. "Watch her grow" - being the subcontext. Her thighs jutted out like wings made of flesh as she took nudie shots for her husband to post on the internet. The husband remarking 'See where the skin has gone black? It is about an inch thick and has feels like elephant skin'. Other pictures of partners making their partners drink liquid fat.

Samson, Friday, 28 March 2003 14:55 (twenty-three years ago)

wasn't this on C4?

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 28 March 2003 14:56 (twenty-three years ago)

I was going to say, it doesn't sound like BBC1. There is no fetish so minority that C4 won't overclaim it though.

Tom (Groke), Friday, 28 March 2003 14:57 (twenty-three years ago)

Probably the strangest and most abusive fetish around. Feeders. I had trouble with my lunch this morning because of images of those thighs.

It was on BBC1, I believe.

Samson, Friday, 28 March 2003 14:57 (twenty-three years ago)

It was on c4, according to yesterday's paper.

Tom (Groke), Friday, 28 March 2003 14:58 (twenty-three years ago)

It was definitely C4. It was also definitely revolting.

Emma, Friday, 28 March 2003 14:58 (twenty-three years ago)

Ach. I never watch telly you pedantics! Let's discuss the fetish!

Samson, Friday, 28 March 2003 14:59 (twenty-three years ago)

I saw five minutes of it before I got, well, bored really.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Friday, 28 March 2003 14:59 (twenty-three years ago)

It did not get well, disturbing, until 10 minutes in, Julio. I thought the same thing at first. The Arizona couple were disturbing.

Samson, Friday, 28 March 2003 15:01 (twenty-three years ago)

Was the idea that these men were coercing women who otherwise wouldn't overeat into dangerously overeating?

Tom (Groke), Friday, 28 March 2003 15:04 (twenty-three years ago)

It's a whole subculture of Fat Admirers called 'Feeders'. They control the girls by getting them so overweight that they depend on the partner for every basic need. Then they take nude pictures and post them on the internet. The Arizone couple were so f'ing disturbing. The woman went up to 59 stone because her husband wanted to grow her as a sexual fetish. He had a video camera on her remarking 'See how her boobs have gotten so big that she can barely hold them'. The woman looked very depressed and bed-ridden. But then again what an idiot. They could not have sex because her thighs could not possibly open because she was so fat. What did he do? Jerk off on her? Ugh. A depressingly exploitative documentary.

Samson, Friday, 28 March 2003 15:12 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh I know about the subculture though I didn't realise it actually existed in real life - when my girlfriend got ill a few years ago and started gaining weight rapidly I used the web to look for advice/causes and found 'Weight Gain' websites with lots of stories about how (e.g.) Kate Moss eats a magic cake and becomes enormous. There's also that webpage of chubbed-up celeb photos that did the rounds a while back.

Samson I'm not clicking on that link because it might be about the band and I'm in a work environment.

Tom (Groke), Friday, 28 March 2003 15:15 (twenty-three years ago)

The women being fed were pretty obese in the first place, one was 400lb when she met her husband who 'grew' her to over 800lb. He said he liked being able to look after her and care for her - he'd given up his job to do this - and was clearly mental. She was only bed ridden cos he'd fed her so much. It was like that Munchausen's by Proxy thingy (nb I am not a brane doctor so could be confusing my psychiatric disorders here).

Emma, Friday, 28 March 2003 15:15 (twenty-three years ago)

It's kind of like people who find smoking sexy going "C'mon love, 60 a day, not that many is it...filters? hey who needs those..."

Tom (Groke), Friday, 28 March 2003 15:17 (twenty-three years ago)

: - D

That made me laugh! Kerrist, can you change the headline (contains link that might lead to leading UK rockers - Feeder - please)

Emma? Does Pete make sure you really luv cake? That man was clearly mental. She was down to 500 pds and was told by the husband that she looked 'disgusting'. But keerist what about the kid?

Samson, Friday, 28 March 2003 15:18 (twenty-three years ago)

Any chicks like doing this? Cuz I haven't eaten in about a week

dave q, Friday, 28 March 2003 15:29 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't feed her at all. She made me a nice roast chicken what I ate though a few weeks ago.

ALang bought here some Tunnock Caramels though. And took her chocolate cherry.

Pete (Pete), Friday, 28 March 2003 15:33 (twenty-three years ago)

I AM NOT A FAT GIRL. Well not compared to that lot.

Emma, Friday, 28 March 2003 15:35 (twenty-three years ago)

And took her chocolate cherry.

The letter "a" - all that separates a loving thoughtful act from Dan-bait.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 28 March 2003 15:37 (twenty-three years ago)

(In the interests of proper joke accreditation can I just mention that this joke was made by Tom and was a variation on a joke I made myself. Pete is a legendary joke thief.)

Emma, Friday, 28 March 2003 15:41 (twenty-three years ago)

Wow - a fetish that I was not aware of. *shaking my head* And one that I am not aroused by. *more head shaking* Really, it's leaving me speechless - what to say?

I mean, it's good to have people who love others no matter what their body shape, but to help someone become so unhealthy? Is it any different from assisting someone to get drugs? Wow. I need to ponder on this some more.

I'm Passing Open Windows (Ms Laura), Friday, 28 March 2003 19:44 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm more familar with the binge-eating fetish than I am with the feeder/super-size BBW fetish, but from what I've seen online, it's about 45% female. (No, it doesn't turn me on. I'm always looking around fetish sites because there's quite a bit of good SF and fantasy hidden on some of them--the vore [swallowing alive] and statueification fetish sites in particular.)

Sonny, Saturday, 29 March 2003 22:31 (twenty-three years ago)

Found this as I was looking for information about dildo trees. It's a charming story no matter what you think about the weight gain fetish.

Christine "Green Leafy Dragon" Indigo (cindigo), Friday, 4 April 2003 00:55 (twenty-three years ago)

Dildo trees?

*boggle*

I have a lovely mental image of a forest with dildos growing under each leaf.

caitlin (caitlin), Friday, 4 April 2003 11:59 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes, and it's always surrounded by hordes of women clapping their hands and yelling "Yay for the wonderful plant!"

Actually, it's a short, low-growing shrub. I've been trying to find a picture of it online without luck.
