Am I doing this wrong or is it the nature of the beast? I baulked at the price of 8 quid for a copy of So much love to give, so I downloaded Kazaa to get it and it's soooo slow. It's taken fucking ages for it to download (along with Jaguar as recommended by Ronan and Nothing but a heartache) and nothing I do will speed it up. If I go offline will I lose what I have? Am I using the wrong downloading doohickey? aaarrrggggggggghhhhh

you should be using soulseek or winmx (slsk.org and winmx.com)

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 28 March 2003 21:15 (twenty-three years ago)

bugger, are they quicker? Kazaa was quickest to find. Is it easy to get rid of?

stevem (blueski), Friday, 28 March 2003 21:48 (twenty-three years ago)

indeed! right, I'm on it, it seems to be working, but I've been on-linne for far too long, if I go offline will I lose my so far downloaded stuff? (I never used to with audiogalaxy)

chris (chris), Friday, 28 March 2003 21:50 (twenty-three years ago)

Not only that but you will lose your soul (hence the name).

there's an ILM room on soulseek

Why didn't you tell me?

(a.k.a. why didn't I look?)

teeny (teeny), Friday, 28 March 2003 23:00 (twenty-three years ago)

No you won't lose your partial downloads if you go off-line, don't worry! (also, if for some reason one of your downloads gets aborted and turns red, just try to restart it and they'll usually be able to start up again where they left off).

neil simpson, Saturday, 29 March 2003 12:19 (twenty-three years ago)

N. (nickdastoor), Saturday, 29 March 2003 13:01 (twenty-three years ago)

something about searching "acquisition soulseek" tickles me funny bone. you get all the fancy-book-learnin' threads! "pardon me, friend, could you be of some assistance in my foiled quest for the acquisition of compressed media files?? ...grey poupon, etc.?" ;-)

ron (ron), Saturday, 29 March 2003 17:28 (twenty-three years ago)

i was just schooled that acquisition is a program, it's all clear! (laughs at self)
