...it's a metal mania weekend and right now they're playing Kiss "Uh! All Right" which shows Gene Simmons on a stage with A TWIRLY PYROTECHNIC ON HIS ASS.

I'm glad it's on and not up.

I'm still watching. They just played Frehley's Comet.

one year passes...
Tonight's good string of videos...

REM - some early song that was ok
Echo & the Bunnymen - Never Stop (some live version I've never heard before)
Morrissey - Everyday Is Like Sunday (awesome)
Scorpions - Rock You Like Hurricane (awesome)
Power Station - Bang A Gong (awesome)

You actually thought the PS cover of "Bang a Gong" was "awesome"?!?! I thought that was one of the lowlights of the first PS release! (Oddly enough, the big highlight of that album, IMHO, is their cover of the Isleys' "Harvest For The World".)

I've seen that live version of "Never Stop" before on VH1C, FYI. It's very, very, very, very, very good. Echo & the Bunnymen must ROCK live.

Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 04:17 (twenty-two years ago)

i think that he's saying that the VIDEO for "bang a gong" was awesome. which it is!!! dig that day-glo lipstick, yo!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 04:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Ahh. The VIDEO. Eh. I ignore the video, obv. Seems to me to be too much like the one for "Some Like it Hot". (Thus proves the point that you CAN indeed be too immersed in a segment of the fannish world. Criticisms galore!!)

Many Coloured Halo (Dee the Lurker), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 04:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, definitely the video. I think I was still riding the buzz from the Moz and Scorpions too.

Aaron W (Aaron W), Tuesday, 22 June 2004 13:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I got knocked out by vh1c's one-two punch of Queen's "One Vision" backed by David Lee Roth's "Skyscraper." Post-prime decadence is go!

sexyDancer, Tuesday, 22 June 2004 13:55 (twenty-two years ago)

they're playing Kiss "Uh! All Right"

It's "Uh! All NIGHT," isn't it?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 00:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I have 30 hours of VH1 Classic on tape for a reason.

CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 00:37 (twenty-two years ago)

sorry, 36.

CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 00:38 (twenty-two years ago)

er, drink may just possibly have been involved in the creation of this thread, excuse misspellings pls.

teeny (teeny), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 00:39 (twenty-two years ago)

goddamn, the only time I got to watch vh1 classic drunk was when they decided to do an after 2am bars-are-closed-so-here's-John-Waite-to-sing-you-to-sleep streak of heartbreak hits.

CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 00:41 (twenty-two years ago)

six months pass...
Now playing: Joboxers, "Just Got Lucky"

Curious George Rides a Republican (Rock Hardy), Saturday, 22 January 2005 01:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Right now the Bee Gees have finished telling us how they came to write "Jive Talking" and Barry is singing it.

Ken L (Ken L), Saturday, 22 January 2005 02:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I had to hit the mute button for that. iTunes just played two Miles Davis songs in a row, 20 year gap: from "Ah-Leu-Cha" to "Rated X." OW MY BRANE.

Curious George Rides a Republican (Rock Hardy), Saturday, 22 January 2005 02:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Fuck all that, Starship Troopers is on Showtime 2.

Aaron Hertz (AaronHz), Saturday, 22 January 2005 02:41 (twenty-one years ago)

I can't afford Netflix AND premium cable.

Curious George Rides a Republican (Rock Hardy), Saturday, 22 January 2005 02:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't use Netflix because I don't have a mailbox. Just a PO Box that is 20 miles into town, and right next to the local video store, heh.

Aaron Hertz (AaronHz), Saturday, 22 January 2005 02:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I have a PO Box and use Netflix!

tokyo rosemary (rosemary), Saturday, 22 January 2005 04:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Do you live 20 miles away from it in a town with no public transportation, and do you not own a car?

Aaron Hertz (AaronHz), Saturday, 22 January 2005 05:33 (twenty-one years ago)

mute "Jive Talkin'??!?!?!??!!?" Are you crazy!!?!?!???

hstencil (hstencil), Saturday, 22 January 2005 06:28 (twenty-one years ago)

what's up with Starship Troopers 2?

Snappy (sexyDancer), Saturday, 22 January 2005 07:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Now playing: Joboxers, "Just Got Lucky"

VH1 used to air that video for their "The Big '80s" video program ALL the time. Well, maybe not all the time, but I saw it quite a lot on that show.

(Currently watching John Leguizamo on one of the HBO channels. I love watching this show.)

Samantha Baker (Dee the Lurker), Saturday, 22 January 2005 07:30 (twenty-one years ago)

(Well, more like one-man show, y'know?)

(Drat, it's over now.)

Samantha Baker (Dee the Lurker), Saturday, 22 January 2005 07:30 (twenty-one years ago)

one year passes...
"BBC Crown Jewels" = awesome. Half-hour Joni Mitchell concert followed by 1972 Neil Young concert (right now).
