Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 30 March 2003 15:25 (twenty-three years ago)

Buffy wins. Adorno can't fight for shit. Except it's some sort of Monkey Islandish "Argument Fu".

Wintermute (Wintermute), Sunday, 30 March 2003 15:41 (twenty-three years ago)

well it's a book so "argument fu" might have an advantage!!

mark s (mark s), Sunday, 30 March 2003 15:44 (twenty-three years ago)

adorno is great. the culture industry is a meisterwerk (or somefink)!!

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Sunday, 30 March 2003 15:45 (twenty-three years ago)

Mark S, sign on to AIM, dammit. We want you to waste time with us.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 30 March 2003 15:45 (twenty-three years ago)

Argument, yes. But where's the Fu?

Wintermute (Wintermute), Sunday, 30 March 2003 15:47 (twenty-three years ago)

who on earth could claim adorno is grate but a NUTSO! ;-)

nathalie (nathalie), Sunday, 30 March 2003 16:35 (twenty-three years ago)

Now you have more bookshelves, I think you could wisely commit to at least half a dozen more books, Mark.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 30 March 2003 16:43 (twenty-three years ago)

well adorno's very very trendy in the academy (for the wotevath time) and buffy there and elsewhere, so you'd possibly get a best seller. (the new-old chic is brainier than thou, afterall.) hiff some participant observation into the mix, underpin franzen style and off you go.

sontag once said she has of a novel novel idea every day.

Clare (not entirely unhappy), Sunday, 30 March 2003 18:02 (twenty-three years ago)

Hang on, who or what is your subconscious in league with?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 30 March 2003 19:03 (twenty-three years ago)

the league of extraordinary gentlemen, is it any good? There is a film of it out in August, it's cost £62million to make or something.

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 30 March 2003 19:09 (twenty-three years ago)

in my unfinished novel, I have decided that the chef who is murdered is the world's most renowned pancake chef.

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 30 March 2003 19:12 (twenty-three years ago)

I thought the first League of Extraordinary Gentlemen was pretty dull, to be honest. Alan can pastiche old literary/genre styles better than any other comic writer ever, but I'm not sure why I should still care about that.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Sunday, 30 March 2003 19:15 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm sure Martin is right but it's like d00d Invisible Man!! d00d, Mr.Hyde!! d00d, The Artful Dodger!! d00d, that cool ass Dupin detective from those old Edgar Allan Poe short stories!! And it's like d00d, they're all in a comic...together! So as geekyness for geekyness' sake, it can't be beat (well, it could've been, had they included Dorian Gray and João Da Ega, but you can't have it all)

Daniel_Rf (Daniel_Rf), Sunday, 30 March 2003 20:22 (twenty-three years ago)

martin i don't know but when i find out i'm gunna kick their arses

mark s (mark s), Sunday, 30 March 2003 20:31 (twenty-three years ago)
