I went to high school in Skowhegan... for some reason this immediately makes me homesick

luna (luna.c), Monday, 31 March 2003 03:45 (twenty-three years ago)

Thank you all. For some reason NBC does not come in very well to my television. But 40 dollars for cable? I cannot afford this! The poeple here seem nice enough. I ama real fisherman?

Mike Hanle y (mike), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 03:03 (twenty-three years ago)

do they still have that ABC station out of Poland Spring, Maine? that was just about the only station we could pick up when we used to vacation in vermont (other than the french stations from quebec).

Tad (llamasfur), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 05:20 (twenty-three years ago)

I dont think we get any stations from there. What's odd is there is NBC headquarters a few blocks away from me. Maybe my antenna is baqdf

Mike Hanle y (mike), Tuesday, 1 April 2003 12:34 (twenty-three years ago)

two years pass...
Portland is a nice place, but I was unpleasantly surprised to find that the ocean is ICE COLD even in the middle of August. I'm still waiting for my testicles to drop back down.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Monday, 20 June 2005 22:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Welcome to the Atlantic seaboard.

luna (luna.c), Monday, 20 June 2005 22:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Haha, Mark's Topless Donuts is the most depressing place on earth.

C0L1N B... (C0L1N B...), Monday, 20 June 2005 22:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Although the last time I was in Portland, I heard Mark's had been turned into an "exclusive gentlemen's club" called, like, "The Silver Bullet" or something, so I assume they did away with the donuts.

six years pass...

You got a nice, friendly little place here. :)

I cruised around downtown and a bit into Old Town today, mostly on foot. I like the downtown area a lot. It has a very Village kind of feel to it.

msg me if you'd like to meet up for a beer. The best joint around SE Belmont is the Bare Bones right by SE 29th/30th.

SE Belmont at about 35th

I can remember riding my bike over there as a kid, because a local dairy had its distribution point in the brick building over there. We could snag some leftover dry ice from the drivers when they got back from their delivery runs. Then we'd put the dry ice into water and watch it make "mad scientist" fog bubbles like on tv.

A neighbor kid put a bunch of dry ice in the toilet at home, as a joke. The water chilled so rapidly it cracked the porcelin and broke the toilet. He got in trouble.
