what do you think is the funniest, most ingenious comedy stuff going lately?

can be individual comedians, television, radio stuff, whatever...

what things are stepping up to claim the spots once held by 'mr show'/'the simpsons'/the onion/etc.?

I really like Simon Munnery. He's actually been around on the UK comedy circuit for a while now, but he remains mostly excellent. His League Against Tedium character is incredible - a one-man dadaist fascist TV station (he films himself with a tiny camera, and can trigger computer animations and video clips on a huge overhead TV screen with his "Sword Of Dst:NY".) Totally twisted, absurdist, brilliantly clever stuff. Recently he rested the character for a while, in favour of a more conventional apporach of just telling jokes normally without his gadgets - his recent radio show on Resonance FM was a bit patchy but you could still see sparks of brilliance in it.

The best thing out of Britain in a while, just released in the states, is The Office, but that's more Stare at the Screen Twitching.

Have we had a thread where people try to explain Mr Show's appeal to other people?

When Bill Bailey does his musical bits, I rarely pause from hysterical laughter. Eddie Izzard is a good call. Paul Merton always provides a few really good laughs, whether on TV or Radio 4.

the pictures on b3ta.com - by far the funniest things i am seeing anywehere in any medium lately

Ricky Gervais IS funny (i like his new radio ad for his show on XFM), maybe not to the 'puke' level but still.

South Park, King Of The Hill, Futurama and Simpsons repeats

Scrubs makes me laugh out loud - this is compromised by the exruciatingly cheese-ridden sentimental bits but its still a good show

b3ta.com is one of those I have to wait 'til everyone has left work to check, cuz it's TOO MUCH THE FUNNY. I have a disk with stuff saved from there (whenever I'm feeling down I bring up the cats-in-pints thing and WOAH! the hilarity!).

I have b3ta set as my homepage. It has some on days and off days, but when even when the pictures are kind of iffy I still find them funnier and more enjoyable than most things nowadays. This might be because I have turned into an old crank, I don't know.

lame as it sounds 'your face or mine' on channel 4 at 6 on weekdays is worth a watch, mainly due to the bloke being really cutting.
