Cereal Boxes - Most Entertaining

Kellogg's Apple Jacks has funny stuff on the package - "Other Stuff That Doesn't Taste Like Apples" - where they give some fun facts about parking meters, cockatoos, ear-muffs, duct tape and the sandbox tree. Each bit ends with something like "cockatoos in no way taste like apples" and "Americans now use 250 million square yards [of duct tape] a year, but not one of those yards taste remotely like apples".

This is the thread where we talk about cereal boxes.

I eat Grape Nuts. The box is all about how good for you it is. Or at least, I assume so. I've never read it.

Fantasy cereal - "Hom-o's" - every month, a new gay icon on the box. The first will feature Ian McKellen.

Surely Cheerios would have been the better choice there.

I used to read cereal boxes intently when I was a kid, in a half-asleep stupor. What cereal boxes make the best reading material?

ON Kelloggs cereals for a while, there were two characters, Eet and Ern, who discussed the prizes one could gain through eating andf earning their points. A TM sign floated by every picture of Eet and every picture of Ern on the label, and by every word EET and ERN. I counted, and with all the Eets, Erns and Kelloggs logos, it added up to 53 trademark signs! See:

They are a rather manic looking horse/pig duo whose games' names rip off the titles of Salinger novels.

Fivvy, you make this up surely? I have never seen such shit.
I thought it said 'catheter in the sky' and I was really confused.

"see how many times you can find the word rutabaga on this box. this one doesn't count" "rutaba: almost!" "rutabaga on a side panel doesn't count"

Haha this is the third or fourth time I've heard you talk about that cereal! I should find a box for your birthday.

These Life boxes keeping making me laugh every time I think of them. I keep trying to imagine the meetings discussing the colors and placement of who would be on these boxes. I wonder if they knew how this would really look.

JacobSanders, Monday, 15 August 2011 01:44 (twelve years ago) link

Did they really co-ordinate the color of the cereal with the color of the people featured on the boxes?
