I am working there now. Push the envelope. Can you touch base with me tomorrow morning for all day filing. Yes.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 15:52 (twenty-three years ago)

Don't forget to think outside the box, Ronan.

hstencil, Tuesday, 27 May 2003 16:04 (twenty-three years ago)

ha, i was just about to call you to thread, hstencil.

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 16:05 (twenty-three years ago)

Today I was filing, as I do, and I found a letter in one of the files which read

"To whom it concerns,

Can you please allow my husband to withdraw money from my account at your branch on Friday.

I realise the postal service is poor so if you haven't got this letter by Friday could you please allow him all the same".

Oh the humanity.

Ronan (Ronan), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 16:05 (twenty-three years ago)

Interestingly enough, today is the first day that I've been called back by an internal bank recruiter, so maybe (just maybe) I'll continue to work here (but not here, in another building, but for the Bank, in NYC, etc.).

hstencil, Tuesday, 27 May 2003 16:08 (twenty-three years ago)

Ronan maybe the woman who wrote that letter is magic!

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 17:33 (twenty-three years ago)

i just cut a big check to a client in prison. the bastard.

kephm, Tuesday, 27 May 2003 17:53 (twenty-three years ago)

They say 'touch base' in Ireland? Did it start in the US? if so, i apologize on behalf of my country.

oops (Oops), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 18:48 (twenty-three years ago)

We don't 'touch base' in my bank and we have a HR policy explaining why it's not appropriate.

Lara (Lara), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 20:20 (twenty-three years ago)

Hahahah Ronan that letter is classic! We got a similar one as an email last week, something like: "hi, I don't appear to be able to send you email, can you please help".

I was so tempted to reply with "but you can!" but I would have got in trouble :(

I thought this thread was gonna be about the magnificent Aussie film The Bank. See it if you can.

Trayce (trayce), Tuesday, 27 May 2003 21:56 (twenty-three years ago)

Today I went back to the phone to deal with a customer and heard them saying "yeah I know, and the FUCKING WANKERS HAVE ME ON HOLD HERE".

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 15:46 (twenty-three years ago)

tell that customer to go listen to 'The Terrace' and chill the fuck out

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 15:52 (twenty-three years ago)

You should have groaned noisily, caught your breath and said, "Sorry about that, finishing up some business."

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 15:53 (twenty-three years ago)

I hope you said. "Hi I'm Ronan, and I'll be your fucking wanker today. How may I help you?"

teeny (teeny), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 15:53 (twenty-three years ago)

seriously, it would be so great if Ronan started recommending dance tracks to customers as part of a new initiative

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 15:54 (twenty-three years ago)

If 5 guys bust in dressed as ex-presidents, stall them as long as possible.

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 15:56 (twenty-three years ago)

MY GOD I would so love that. Free checking and a new dance track monthly.

teeny (teeny), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 15:56 (twenty-three years ago)

it could work.

I am so tired.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 28 May 2003 16:00 (twenty-three years ago)
