CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 20:23 (twenty-three years ago)

Tell us more! Who is DJing? What sort of music (haha as if I didn't etc.)?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 20:30 (twenty-three years ago)

hey, I see this seconds after I mention SUSSED on another thread!

But yes, I'll be there Steve.

MarkH (MarkH), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 20:37 (twenty-three years ago)

I don't want your dancing if I can't have a revolution!

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 20:46 (twenty-three years ago)

will there be beer?

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 20:56 (twenty-three years ago)

(even if there wasn't i'm so there anyway)

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 20:56 (twenty-three years ago)

it's in a pub mate, there had better be...

(actually it's possibly a "bar")

dj line-up equals me, tom and pete. music, as you would expect...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 21:25 (twenty-three years ago)

So now I've bought me tickets, you announce this. I mean, I enjoy my reputation, but coming over to that and then back to Dublin to get a flight to Bristol the next day is slightly beyond me.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 4 June 2003 22:25 (twenty-three years ago)

im in the uk for this!

mark p (Mark P), Thursday, 5 June 2003 00:19 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm probably already going to be at Glasto on the Wednesday and will therefore miss this :(

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 5 June 2003 07:14 (twenty-three years ago)

Stirling work chaps. A Wednesday too - the weekend starts here.

(I will of course be playing only downer "I can't go to Glastonbury" rekkids - and hence will have a severely limited turntable times).

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 5 June 2003 07:16 (twenty-three years ago)

You know what Farrell? You're a cunt.

(But we'll miss you anyway - see you outside the Brothers Bar)

I spent my tube journey in this morning trying to work out what I'm going to play.

It's 7-11, i.e. it's a not really dancing thing which is just as well because the DJs will be not really mixing.

(If anyone's wondering, Freaky Trigger itself has been offline because I haven't had home access. This changes tomorrow but the site will probably be on hiatus until later in the summer because we're getting a relaunch ready.)

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 5 June 2003 07:17 (twenty-three years ago)

A re-re-launch. We've obviously got to wait for Tany to be kicked out of the Big Brother house.

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 5 June 2003 07:23 (twenty-three years ago)

arses i was assuming normal ppl went to glasto on the thursday and only mad starin' eyed hippies went on the weds ;)

also pls tell friends/co-workers/random ppl you meet in the pub :)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 5 June 2003 07:38 (twenty-three years ago)

Hurrah this is during my time off work :)

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 5 June 2003 08:00 (twenty-three years ago)

also also if anyone can think of places to publicise the event that i might not have thought [i just typed thinked there, what's the matter with me??] of, or if anyone has any contacts...

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 5 June 2003 09:05 (twenty-three years ago)

Why - have you lost your glasses?

*runs*

Archel (Archel), Thursday, 5 June 2003 10:27 (twenty-three years ago)

I can't go because I will be at the GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL.

DV (dirtyvicar), Thursday, 5 June 2003 10:41 (twenty-three years ago)

Mad starin' eyed hippy.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 5 June 2003 10:54 (twenty-three years ago)

oh archel, with these bad puns you are spoiling us ;)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 5 June 2003 15:42 (twenty-three years ago)

When freaky trigger gets relaunched, I hope the last focus group is there!!!

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 5 June 2003 15:43 (twenty-three years ago)

only moments from my office, hurrah! so, um, no excuses - i'm there!

zebedee (zebedee), Thursday, 5 June 2003 15:46 (twenty-three years ago)

Jel the last focus group will be sneaked out by a blushing me on NYLPM I think in the interim.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 5 June 2003 15:49 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah, for those of you who work in the vicinity (like me), the bar is open all afternoon, so it's not like you have to hang around for two hours or owt.

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 5 June 2003 15:50 (twenty-three years ago)

Cool! (oh, and I might come to this, but I think it's in the middle of my dog and cat sitting duty :(...)

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 5 June 2003 15:51 (twenty-three years ago)

bring them along as well!!

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 5 June 2003 15:55 (twenty-three years ago)

I'd like to come, but I'll be at work (and 60 miles away). Make it a Thursday next time, eh chaps?

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Thursday, 5 June 2003 17:22 (twenty-three years ago)

So would I, but you can multiply that distance by ten. And make it a Saturday next time?

ailsa (ailsa), Thursday, 5 June 2003 18:04 (twenty-three years ago)

If you play "Nothing But A Heartache" and "Poison Arrow" back to back I'll kiss everyone in the whole room!

Dr. C (Dr. C), Friday, 6 June 2003 14:42 (twenty-three years ago)

Jel attempts to out-twee everyone by turning up to a FAP with a real cat.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Friday, 6 June 2003 14:43 (twenty-three years ago)

Weird, I'm going to be in London that week. Maybe I should FAP here in Toronto so that I can say I fapped in 3 countries in six months (USA, CAN, UK)! (ps FAP-as-verb classic or dud)

Dave M. (rotten03), Friday, 6 June 2003 15:06 (twenty-three years ago)

fapping marvellous

stevem (blueski), Friday, 6 June 2003 15:09 (twenty-three years ago)

Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 12:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Only fifteen days to go. Have people girded their loins.

None of my bands are on that list btw.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 13:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Cor wouldn't a wordsearch have looked nice on there?

Tim (Tim), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 13:08 (twenty-two years ago)

or a horoscope

chris (chris), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 13:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Aquarius: You'll be pleasantly surprised by the retro big beat section, but sneer at the Busted! By the time someone plays some Ricochet Kalashnikov you will be too drunk to care.

Cancer: You have been eroneously told that this is an indie night and hence are disappointed from the get go. But even your indie curmudgeonliness cannot help but be perked up by New Direction.

Virgo: Was that Wilmot by the Sabres Of Paradise. Rocking!

Sagatarius: You never thought that Warpigs would mix so well into Shut Up - buthey that Osbourne family can do nothing wrong. The mix into KellyRowland though wasn't as successful.

Gemini: You are trapped in the toilets, but at least the occasional snippets of tunes you hear when someon opens the outer door are great.

Pete (Pete), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 13:34 (twenty-two years ago)

well i think it's SUPER alang, well done you :)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 14:04 (twenty-two years ago)

yeh, nice flyer - may i ask what typeface you used for the 'Freaky Trigger' itself?

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 14:44 (twenty-two years ago)

type = either Linotype Rory or kaliber -- I can't recall, sorry.

Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 15:10 (twenty-two years ago)

regarding the indicative playlist, Why are The Cure not mentioned?

don't you remember this:
http://www.freakytrigger.co.uk/cure.html

DJ Martian (djmartian), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 15:30 (twenty-two years ago)

DJM they're between The Streets and Killer Mike.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 15:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Ha, Olio ! but what about the original inspiration!

DJ Martian (djmartian), Tuesday, 10 June 2003 15:41 (twenty-two years ago)

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Monday, 16 June 2003 14:09 (twenty-two years ago)

and I have a huge, v. important meeting the next day at 9am :o(

chris (chris), Monday, 16 June 2003 14:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Less meat in the sausage rolls, more "meat".

Pete (Pete), Monday, 16 June 2003 14:40 (twenty-two years ago)

very close

chris (chris), Monday, 16 June 2003 14:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Less "meat" in the sausage rolls, more of that stuff that even those of us in the processed food industry who can frankly be lax in our use of the word meat in the first place cannot even bring ourselves to call meat.

Pete (Pete), Monday, 16 June 2003 14:52 (twenty-two years ago)

Remember Freaky Trigger? ;)

Cozen (Cozen), Monday, 16 June 2003 16:12 (twenty-two years ago)

is it an essential new choon?

MarkH (MarkH), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 10:09 (twenty-two years ago)

i'd prefer No More The Fool by Elkie Brooks

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 10:14 (twenty-two years ago)

i don't think there's time to work on a bootleg/mash up, but it's one to keep in mind.

Alan (Alan), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 10:17 (twenty-two years ago)

haha - now i can't remember ANY of the choons i had in mind to d/l

erm, so try this (which does have words):
detroit emeralds - 'you're getting a little too smart'

zebedee (zebedee), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 11:16 (twenty-two years ago)

(i voted for the current leader in the interactive poll btw - baaaaaa)

zebedee (zebedee), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 11:17 (twenty-two years ago)

It being a sunny day they are all now looking eminently playable.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 12:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Why are people hating on Sean Paul? (By not voting him to top of Tom's list???)

alext (alext), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 14:33 (twenty-two years ago)

Crazy in Love is great.

jel -- (jel), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 14:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Where is the love for Big Tigger??! Come on you twee fuXoRs he's called BIG TIGGER what more do you want!

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 17:10 (twenty-two years ago)

what could be tweer than a big Tigger?

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 17:15 (twenty-two years ago)

LIKE TWO GORILLAS MAKING LOVE IN THE JUNGLE

jess (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 17:27 (twenty-two years ago)

let me stick my key in your gorilla

jess (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 17:28 (twenty-two years ago)

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 17:28 (twenty-two years ago)

each time i think r kelly could not possibly get more baroque and ridiculous than "feelin on yr booty" he trumps me

jess (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 17:31 (twenty-two years ago)

ooh I might try and pop down to this if I get out of work at an hour which isn't completely daft

j0e (j0e), Tuesday, 24 June 2003 18:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Um, this is today people!!

(sorry for use of the p-word)

Songs I have downloaded too late to play #1: LCD Soundsystem - "Tribulations" - very smooth electro-indie, much much much better than "Give It Up" thank goodness!

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 08:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Songs I have downloaded too late to play #2: Bubba Sparxxx - "Jimmy Mathis" - yokel-hop reaches a new peak!

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 09:14 (twenty-two years ago)

This is a dumb question - does Tico Tico = Tom. I am always the last to spot these things but Ticox2 seemed to arrive on ILX fully formed and knowing people and stuff.

Dr. C (Dr. C), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 09:35 (twenty-two years ago)

shhhh!

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 09:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Tico Tico = Duran Duran

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 09:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Zwan Zwan

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 09:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I may not make it tonight -bah!

1) I thought it was tomorrow and now have to wriggle out of summat else.

2) I damaged my neck and shoulder doing a human pyramid at the weekend and it's sore as hell today

Dr. C (Dr. C), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 09:44 (twenty-two years ago)

have you got that Javine single yet? I like.

Alan (Alan), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 11:19 (twenty-two years ago)

"Real Things"? Yeah, I didn't burn it though, I'm not keen - I love the backing but something about her annoys me.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 11:25 (twenty-two years ago)

somebody ought to bring the new dizzy rascal album and set up a listening booth so we can take turns going 'oooooh! aaaaaahh!'

Dave M. (rotten03), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 11:35 (twenty-two years ago)

''I love the backing but something about her annoys me.''

some sort of beyonce clone. that's what i thought when i saw the video this morning. nice single tho'.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 12:49 (twenty-two years ago)

At least that's what I think it is. I'd hum a bit of it at you, but my HTML skillz aren't up to it.

Alan (Alan), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 12:50 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd really like to come along to this, but sadly I cannot make it. :-(

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 13:01 (twenty-two years ago)

me neither, sorry chaps.

chris (chris), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 13:26 (twenty-two years ago)

File me under "Drunk in charge of lots of records".

Hmm, alcoholic Iced Coffee.

Pete (Pete), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 15:42 (twenty-two years ago)

I might not make it, being as totally unorganised for glasto as I am.

RickyT (RickyT), Wednesday, 25 June 2003 15:46 (twenty-two years ago)

can i just say a very big thank you very much to everyone who came along, a lovely time was had by all i think, and once we get back from the fields i'll be in touch with the chappie to see if we can sort another one or even a real actual regular slot :)

thanks again

xoxo

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Thursday, 26 June 2003 07:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Props to all involved, it was marvellous. Enjoy Glasters (if that's possible, but you seem to think it is, so hey ;))!

Mark C (Mark C), Thursday, 26 June 2003 08:16 (twenty-two years ago)

that derek bailey/pat metheny record was nice ;)

It was good to meet dave m.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Thursday, 26 June 2003 08:34 (twenty-two years ago)

hello everyone. last night was grand although I had to come in to work mega-early today so was only there until ten. lovely to meet more new people, I wish I'd got to speak to everyone but unfortunately I'm a twat with no manners :-(

oh - and I'm still giggling about hearing one of my bootlegs being played. how random.

j0e (j0e), Thursday, 26 June 2003 08:39 (twenty-two years ago)

heh joe don't feel bad. I came in at 9 and was only there for over an hour.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Thursday, 26 June 2003 09:00 (twenty-two years ago)

sorry missed it, had to go to somebody's b-day in Camden and by the time I got there the b-day person was stinking drunk and maudlin and since it was their b-day everybody *had* to spend the whole evening feeling sorry for them so go on laff at me!

dave q, Thursday, 26 June 2003 09:02 (twenty-two years ago)

you must then be unlucky dave, unlike lucky dave M who has the best job ever, at least thats how it sounded last night

and Tom i'm aghast you didnt play Vitamin C in the end - still it was a great night

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 26 June 2003 11:12 (twenty-two years ago)

i've just remembered i drunk a bottle of Scrumpy Jack last night....must've been some kind of unconscious Glastonbury pining syndrome

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 26 June 2003 11:36 (twenty-two years ago)

how come no-one bought a sodding camera to this momentous occasion incidentally?

stevem (blueski), Thursday, 26 June 2003 14:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Dave M does not have the best job in the world: he has to justify the curriculum's inclusion of Stevie Wonder as an important part of the roots of rock and roll!

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Thursday, 26 June 2003 20:19 (twenty-two years ago)

But this gives him the enviable opportunity to teach the kids of Singapore the TRUTH about Stevie wonders colour-blindness.

Pete (Pete), Friday, 27 June 2003 09:30 (twenty-two years ago)

> how come no-one bought a sodding camera to this momentous occasion incidentally?

someone was there taking pictures with his phone. only nobody knew who he was!

i did see tim and pete corner him as he was leaving and enquire about what he was doing (i think they may have been worried about him stealing their souls or something) so maybe they can help.

(i also had my camera in my bag but neve used it. oops)

andy

koogs (koogs), Friday, 27 June 2003 09:36 (twenty-two years ago)

someone was there taking pictures with his phone. only nobody knew who he was!

was that the black guy with the dark glasses and the thermos flask?

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 27 June 2003 09:45 (twenty-two years ago)

no that was c*lum

stevem (blueski), Friday, 27 June 2003 09:47 (twenty-two years ago)

No, it was the bloke with the small Canon. I cornered him and said
"Who do you think you are - David Bailey?"

Imagine how embarressed I was when it turned out that he was.

Pete (Pete), Friday, 27 June 2003 09:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Apparently he was Derek Bailey, but was very disappointed that Julio had already gone.

Tim (Tim), Friday, 27 June 2003 10:02 (twenty-two years ago)

forget Stevie Wonder, imagine the look on their faces when i explain that rock and roll was invented by our favorite media mogul, Ted 'Ike' Turner?

ps. had a fantastic time, loved meeting you all!

Dave M. (rotten03), Friday, 27 June 2003 10:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm taking photos at the wedding this weekend. I won't make this mistake again. And then get my face burnt by a magnesium flash bulb.

Pete (Pete), Friday, 27 June 2003 10:04 (twenty-two years ago)

''Apparently he was Derek Bailey, but was very disappointed that Julio had already gone.''

:-(
