Sources of touchy feely embarrassment (with "breakoput sessions", "raporteurs")or productive events that let you realise the full potential of your colleagues' abilities that you've been overlooking all this time...

*shudders*

classic, watching the elderly office inhabitants trying to errect a bridge from poles and rope or carrying buckets of water over a fictional swamp is very funny (i used to work with some real old people).

Now in my job i work with younger people so work days out are actually pretty cool, i tend to get hammered and shock people with my acidic tongue

james (james), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 11:38 (twenty-two years ago)

we have one coming up soon, a barge trip out on the local canal.

But most of the time = DUD for the simple reason that I like to keep my socialising as far from work as possible.

Fuzzy (Fuzzy), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 11:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I have one of these in a couple of weeks, not even with my paid job but with the arts org I'm on the board of. Dreading it. Nice location is about the only good point.

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 12:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I have a conference tomorrow, I'm really looking forward to it.

That said I went to a workshop the other week with "breakout sessions" and I thoroughly enjoyed it, but then I was doing presentations and got to show off a bit.

chris (chris), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 12:45 (twenty-two years ago)

not being at work for any reason = CLASSIC

DV (dirtyvicar), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 13:15 (twenty-two years ago)

I am just worried because on the agenda it says 'explain your value to the board, what strengths you bring' etc and I'm like, fuck knows, I just turn up and take minutes and sell tickets and try to get poetry programmed and shit. No skillxor.

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 14:05 (twenty-two years ago)

"Turn up" = Committed team player
"Take minutes" = Responsible for key communications
"Sell tickets" = Maximise revenue
"Try to get poetry programmed and shit" = Dedicated to pushing a diverse range of programmes

I've been re-writing my CV lately

robster (robster), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 14:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Haha thanks Rob!

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 14:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I have one on Thursday, they're okay, especially if I get to draw pictures when we do group presentations.

Archel (Archel), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 14:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Spectacularly dud. I'd rather be at work.

Chris Barrus (Chris Barrus), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 21:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd rather be flaying my skin off with rusty biros

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 22:08 (twenty-two years ago)

If I met my workmates in the street I'd spit on them

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 22:09 (twenty-two years ago)

I think ESOJ is holding back.

Chris Barrus (Chris Barrus), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 22:13 (twenty-two years ago)

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 22:29 (twenty-two years ago)

See the bit in A Big Boy Did It And Ran Away where the protagonist brutally humiliates and kills the leader of such an exercise for generally being an annoying shit...

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 22:31 (twenty-two years ago)

oddly enough I *was* holding back.

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 22:36 (twenty-two years ago)

i left out the bit about their bloated corpses

electric sound of jim (electricsound), Tuesday, 17 June 2003 22:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Anything, ANYTHING along these lines attempted at work would result in an explosion of bilious hate and contempt from me. Thankfully it has never been suggested.
