I'm watching Sleepless Town right now and he's playing a Taiwanese/Japanese dude - spot on, right? This film is beautiful, BTW, it got best Art Direction and Cinematography at the 1998 HK awards

actually he WAS used as a basis for the protagonist of Onimusha: Warlords, they created all the motion frames from his movements and he also did the voice work

He's great: I saw in him a lot of TV dramas in Japan. He also did the campaign for NOVA English school cause he's the only Japanese idol who can speak English. What's his Chinese again? I always forget. I haven't heard his music. Is it any good? His music isn't so popular in Japan I don't think.

He's no Takuya Kimura though, who is the ultimate in Japanese babedom.

They're both supposed to be in Wai's 2046 but TK is so cool that I think he couldn't hack it on the set.

I would love to see that movie. I wonder how it's going. It's been in production forever.

TK = me big stumped

He can do Cantonese, Mandarin & Taiwanese. All his albums are in Chinese dialects, which is why he probably doesn't get a lot of sales in Japan.

I need to visit Asia eventually.

No. Separate dialects although Mandarin is spoken widely in Taiwan.

One of the wonders of CKExpress is the fact that Takeshi speaks 3 languages in 3 straight scenes: Mandarin (during the narrative monologue), calling all his HK XGFs in Cantonese, then calling his buddy in Japan in Japanese.

Brigitt Lin also does Cantonese, English (Aussie accent), then an Indian dialect.

For whoever was wondering, his name in Mandarin is Jin Chengwu - where Jin is his surname, and Chengwu is his name.

When he was a rising hottie he also used to be known as Aniki Jin, but I haven't heard that used recently.
