Online resources for "bibliophile" books

The vast majority of the books sold on Amazon.com are paperbacks and shoddy, mass-market hardcover editions. I was wondering if there is a website catering for the needs of demanding bibliophile collectors... I'm not interested in antique books or first editions but around the world there are lots of editorial projects that focus on the quality of the binding, the paper, ecc. Bibliothèque de la Pléiade springs to mind...

thanx Nick, I've checked that one! It certainly looks very nice but I have two major problems with it: first of all it's a club, which means that you are forced to buy 4 books within 4 weeks from joining. That wouldn't be a problem but I'm interested only in fiction (literature, ancient or modern), poetry, theatre... they have little of that (the dylan thomas book looks nice though).

You could search for 2nd hand copies of their stuff at abebooks.com.

Simone - I seem to recall reading that the Library of Congress was working on some "higher-level" book publications. And theLibrary of America stuff isn't bad (not great quality, but excellent and hard to find content).
