This is just dog food, isn't it? She was very keen that I had some and when I politely declined she poured me out a huge pile anyway, so that's quite nice.

Oh i love bombay mix. Does that make me a bad person?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 20 June 2003 10:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I am coming around to Bombay mix after several years of working with Indian colleagues.

Hey, what's this American thing, 'trail mix'?

colin s barrow (colin s barrow), Friday, 20 June 2003 10:56 (twenty-two years ago)

I wish my collegues made me eat Bombay mix. I love the stuff.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 20 June 2003 10:56 (twenty-two years ago)

It's like eating pot pourri! It's just wrong, wrong, WRONG!!!

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 20 June 2003 10:59 (twenty-two years ago)

I love it!

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 20 June 2003 11:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I think Bombay Mix is ace too.

Chriddof (Chriddof), Friday, 20 June 2003 11:09 (twenty-two years ago)

It's gotta be fierce though.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 20 June 2003 11:13 (twenty-two years ago)

what is it actually made of tho? what are the little yellow, slightly curved cylindrical things? (I'm well aware that knowing the answer to this question may well dampen my enthusiam for the Mix).

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 20 June 2003 11:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Sandworms

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 20 June 2003 11:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Ktee sez that they are chickpea noodles. I prefer Andrew's theorem.

RickyT (RickyT), Friday, 20 June 2003 11:19 (twenty-two years ago)

noodley things = sev

If you go to indian shops you can get just that on it's own. I think it's made from chickpea flour

chris (chris), Friday, 20 June 2003 11:20 (twenty-two years ago)

ok, so you've got the sev, the dried peas...what are the red bits? And the little grey-green seeds?

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 20 June 2003 11:29 (twenty-two years ago)

My parents always have Bombay Mix when I go round there, and I eat it in a very mental way picking out bits in order of preference (most>least) as follows: cashews (only in quality B mix), fat sev bits, skinny sev bits, lentils, peanuts, chickpea type bits. Some friends of mine used to be mad keen on it too and if you walked round their room barefoot you would get bits of lentil embedded in your foot like a spicy verruca.

Emma, Friday, 20 June 2003 11:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Sounds very nice Emma!!?

Pinkpanther (Pinkpanther), Friday, 20 June 2003 11:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I like to conjure up delightful images such as spicy verrucas on a sunny Friday afternoon.

Emma, Friday, 20 June 2003 11:35 (twenty-two years ago)

But all the bits taste the same, surely? (At least they do to me when I put them all in my mouth at once...)

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 20 June 2003 11:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe you should stop buying Tesco value bombay mix and get some deluxe stuff?

Emma, Friday, 20 June 2003 11:57 (twenty-two years ago)

admit it Emma, you don't watch Dinner Party Inspectors, you're IN it!

MarkH (MarkH), Friday, 20 June 2003 12:00 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey thanks Emma I was hungry until I thought of spicy verucas. Now all of a sudden I am fine.

The strands of bombay mix are supposed to be sprinkled over the top of curry but I'd rather not. Masala Zone carries it off nicely but they just have the chickpea noodle stuff and none of the spicy veruca nonce sense.
