I was hypnotized at a state fair while in high school. I remember the whole thing; I don't think I was as far - gone? under? - as the others on stage: whenever "The Twist" played I stayed in my seat rather than get up and dance with everyone else.

The gags that worked on me were: whenever I looked at a certain woman in the front row of the audience I would imagine she was topless, and look away embarassed... yet I couldn't stop trying to look at her again and again. Then the hypnotist sent me back into the audience to sit with my friends. When he said the keyword ("fair") I stood up and announced, loudly and dramatically, with a flourish of my arm, "I own this place, and drinks are on me!"

I was a bit woozy and spacy for the rest of the day. It seems totally fair-cheezy in retrospect, but I remember the whole audience was in hysterics, esp. the people I came with. I didn't stop smoking, though.

I was under hypnosis from 1992 to around 2001. In 2001 someone said something, I wish I could remember and all of a sudden I realized 99% of techno/IDM was completely shite music.

Tom, I think you went under when you heard 2 Unlimited sing "Techno, Techno, Techno..." in '92.
