Is any else disappointed that the new film Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas is not a biopic of this man:

Would Brad Pitt still do his voice?

Alex K (Alex K), Thursday, 26 June 2003 14:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Useless Trivia: Sinbad (the Brookside one) was in an episode of Vic Reeves' Big Night Out (The 1990 Christmas Special, to be precise) as "Male Pop Star".

Chriddof (Chriddof), Thursday, 26 June 2003 15:53 (twenty-two years ago)

yes lets colonise this thread and turn it into a conversation about Sinbad from Brookie (classic, by the way)

my favourite sinbad moment: the day after the emmerdale plane crash, sinbad picked up a paper at the petrol station and tut-tutted at the "plane crash in yorkshire dales" headline

brookside these days: dud. although I've now just realised that the woman in the "talking to your son about drugs in an embarrassing manner" ad was sinbad's piece of totty - and I've been trying to place her for weeks

I went to a two handed piece of children's thatre once called "Ulysinbad" It featured the eponymous hero and another character drifting about the seas in search of amountain of chips. Metaphysical.

Ed (dali), Thursday, 26 June 2003 16:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Duh - of course sins are bad. That's the point!

Pete (Pete), Thursday, 26 June 2003 17:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Pete, your bitterness abt not going to glasto is NOT an excuse to inflict terrible jokes on us!

MarkH (MarkH), Thursday, 26 June 2003 17:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Every once in while I catch reruns of "A Different World" and I forgot how ants-pissingly funny he was on it. It wasn't the same without him.

Charles McCain (Charles McCain), Thursday, 26 June 2003 18:25 (twenty-two years ago)

"Pants-pissingly" if that makes any more sense.

Charles McCain (Charles McCain), Thursday, 26 June 2003 18:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Pants don't piss, so it doesn't make any sense at all. Ants probably piss, but I doubt that they watch a "A Different World." You should think more before you post, Charles.

jewelly (jewelly), Thursday, 26 June 2003 18:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I love him and I don't care who knows it.

luna (luna.c), Thursday, 26 June 2003 18:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Like all great sailors he keeps it clean.

I like it when soaps acknowledge the possiblity of other soaps existing in their "universe". Though in the spoil-sport world of Eastenders, Coronation Street exists only as a TV programme (there are several examples, I think, but the only one I can think of now is during a late eighties ep, Dirty Den was asked a question in a pub quiz about a Corrie character of the time).

Chriddof (Chriddof), Friday, 27 June 2003 12:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, Joel from Neighbours is playing a copper in the Bill just now, and some character was on about how he looked just like some Australian she recognised from a TV show. It would have been ace if she'd said "you look just like Joel from Neighbours" (sadly she didn't)

ailsa (ailsa), Friday, 27 June 2003 19:20 (twenty-two years ago)

ha, when Craig Mclachlan was in Bugs i was really hoping Jesse Birdsall (aka Markoos in Eldorado) would just say "oh rack off Henry" whenever they had an argument

a couple of years ago, he was delightful on hollywood handbook, a podcast i love that's steeped in irony and high-concept bits and that doesn't always work for guests who can't figure out the schtick (there's an infamous pauly shore episode) - sinbad seemed to "get it" and played into the absurdity and that made me respect him
