In France, the Carphone Warehouse is just called The Phone House. Same logo and style of lettering tho.

The Phone House is better on so many levels.

Do they still have 'Coon' in Australia? It's cheddar cheese.

We have a power company in the UK called Powergen. The Italian company of that name therefore appended the country's name to their name for web purposes, and the Google cache version is a mess, but www.powergenitalia.com is not a made-up or porn address.

I kind of like the brand name "Envy" for a canned spray disinfectant. I've always thought it was rather strange, but somehow fitting.

Don't know if they have a foreign subsidiary, but they should.

granola makes more sense as a word than muesli, assuming they are the same thing

Not sure why the Phone House was favoured over Carphone Warehouse in France. Was it coz they have difficulty pronouncing the "ware" bit? Was it coz of possible confusion with "whorehouse"? Whatever - they got the better deal. Phone House is so much shorter and more snappy. Warehouse conjures up so many negative images. A big, dirty, impersonal shed. No style, just function. In a dirty, rundown bit of town that you wouldn't want to go to.

And as for Carphone, well, it's embarrassing isn't it? So very eighties or early nineties. Phones the size of bricks. Nothing is more embarrassing than the future of the past (which I read in a Human League album review, but it's so apposite here). And now they've passed a law to make it illegal to drive and use a mobile phone (well, except for handsfree, but that was only coz it would be difficult to enforce, not coz it's any safer).
