I'm writing an article on this topic. Can you recommend any? Particularly I';m interested in message boards that are still active, but to which no-one goes except to ask, 'Hello? Anyone there?'

Also go specifically to archives which has links to actual sites, not just screen shots. No guarantee whether any of them are still up in any sense...though you could always go to archive.org to check out the truly dead-and-gone ones.

I've told that a blogger I deeply respect (and who doesn't post here, far as I know) actually taped that to the side of his computer. This kind of mortifies me -- I wrote the majority of that sick with the flu and high on cough medicine.
