Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 27 June 2003 17:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Marcello saying with a sigh, "Ash, ash, all is ash," about the Strokes = best music criticism of the year.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 27 June 2003 17:12 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah whatever happened to those Strokes guys?

Chris V. (Chris V), Friday, 27 June 2003 17:13 (twenty-two years ago)

does marcello like Ash?

joan vich (joan vich), Friday, 27 June 2003 17:14 (twenty-two years ago)

thanks, Ned i nearly forgot about it

DJ Martian (djmartian), Friday, 27 June 2003 17:15 (twenty-two years ago)

Ash, i doubt it, poxy alt-mainstream singalong band.

DJ Martian (djmartian), Friday, 27 June 2003 17:16 (twenty-two years ago)

all is poxy alt-mainstream, all is ash

joan vich (joan vich), Friday, 27 June 2003 17:17 (twenty-two years ago)

anyone else having problems with audio buffering?

DJ Martian (djmartian), Friday, 27 June 2003 17:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Not enough bandwidth.

Nick Southall (Nick Southall), Friday, 27 June 2003 17:28 (twenty-two years ago)

We're all crashing it. Great show so far, who knew Lydia Lunch could sing all forties stylee? Clearly my fault for not investigating further...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 27 June 2003 17:31 (twenty-two years ago)

wicked radio show! i've got soulseek fodder for the next week now!

fields of salmon (fieldsofsalmon), Friday, 27 June 2003 17:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Direct link, might work better for some:

http://www.resonancefm.com/resonance.pls

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 27 June 2003 17:41 (twenty-two years ago)

i have listened to resonance many times before, never had buffering problems - maybe it's my ISP connection? or maybe this Marcello show is mega popular and the Resonance servers can't cope?

DJ Martian (djmartian), Friday, 27 June 2003 17:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Goldang, Marcello just now on everything from the missing Penman liner notes to why Annie Lennox is not the way forward = genius.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 27 June 2003 17:45 (twenty-two years ago)

They better f'in archive it.

Cozen (Cozen), Friday, 27 June 2003 17:46 (twenty-two years ago)

ha Marcello, no likes Annie Lennox as she is not from Glasgow !

DJ Martian (djmartian), Friday, 27 June 2003 17:48 (twenty-two years ago)

DLT supports punk-funk !

DJ Martian (djmartian), Friday, 27 June 2003 17:51 (twenty-two years ago)

And oh how Marcello approves of Nick Hornby.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 27 June 2003 17:59 (twenty-two years ago)

Okay, so impLOG then. I must know more of them!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 27 June 2003 18:06 (twenty-two years ago)

Glenn Branca, about to play 13 minutes long track !

DJ Martian (djmartian), Friday, 27 June 2003 18:15 (twenty-two years ago)

This Glen Branca track is equally amazing.

stevo (stevo), Friday, 27 June 2003 18:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned, you can hear that MBV stole some sonic ideas from Mr Branca !

DJ Martian (djmartian), Friday, 27 June 2003 18:19 (twenty-two years ago)

"Sonic Cathedrals of Sound" guitar distortion ! luv it !

DJ Martian (djmartian), Friday, 27 June 2003 18:23 (twenty-two years ago)

yes i am having buffering probs too = marcello is already a STAR!!

mark s (mark s), Friday, 27 June 2003 18:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Branca filtered through SY I would think more, a logical line of descent.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 27 June 2003 18:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I did not have any problems with the buffying.

Andy K (Andy K), Friday, 27 June 2003 18:49 (twenty-two years ago)

what was the Branca track called?

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 27 June 2003 19:14 (twenty-two years ago)

"The Ascension," from the album of the same name (or maybe it's just "Ascension"). Apparently just been rereleased on Acute Records.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 27 June 2003 19:23 (twenty-two years ago)

yep, just been released this month, see Forced Exposure:

DJ Martian (djmartian), Friday, 27 June 2003 19:29 (twenty-two years ago)

*on my way home to bed*

I had to operate the mixing desk myself tonight, so this was possibly my first proper "DJ" gig 'cos Sharon the engineer did all the technical stuff last time, but she only works there on Tuesdays. Mind you it's easy enough when you know how to work it.

Anyway ta very much for all the kind words: full playlist etc. to follow on CoM over the weekend.

I'm knackered! And still hungover from last night! ;-)

Marcello Carlin, Friday, 27 June 2003 19:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Rah for the Marcello! And now I know how to pronounce your name properly so I will not seem foolish come October (well, more so than usual). For a second time on the air/first time actually working the controls experience you did quite all right, just watch out for that dead air. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 28 June 2003 04:06 (twenty-two years ago)

did anyone tape this?

Justyn Dillingham (Justyn Dillingham), Saturday, 28 June 2003 09:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Not sure. I didn't specifically ask anyone to tape it (Mark's Hackney reception was bad anyway) and the only way I could have got a copy was on mini-disc (I don't have a player so didn't take the option).
