I have heard from the stake president, who still has contact with my family, that the lds church has files on me.

i would assume that they would have let me go.

Does anyone know what these files would consist of, and how I can get them ?

and if not, can we bitch about the creepy morg

If it were in the UK you'd have the right to see those files and they would not have the right to keep them without your expressed written permission.

What kind of files? They shouldn't have been able to access anything educational, empl, financial, medical etc. on you without your written consent. Are you in the US? If so look up the Privacy Act of 1974. this should give you an idea of what is basically a freedom of information act and you should be able to see what people have said about you and inquiries that were made. But of course this is for if an agency is doing it and I am not sure what your church would fall under.

One of eight million wonderfully creepy things about LDS theology and history.

If they're files they compiled on you as a member, while you were a member, I bet they *can* keep them. If they go so far as to baptize dead people by proxy, I'm sure they still hang on to the hope that you'll grow out of this silly phase & come back to their loving arms.

It'd be interesting to find out what they'd do if you asked for them...

Canada must have some equivalent of the data protection registrar. Find out what it is and got to them.

LDS is kinda scary. The school in Provo where they teach their missionaries languages is better and tougher than the Defense Language Institute. There are so many mormons now working in my career field as a result of this it's downright frightening at times.
I'm not surprised they have files on people.

the populating your planet thing is also spooky esp. since witnessing the families of some.

My friend Wolfgang wanted to start a band where the schtick involved playing every show wearing white shirts, ties and bike helmets.
