That's where I'm ending up instead of NYC this holiday weekend. I'm with my mom and not really sure if I can get away all that much, but I thought it would be worth mentioning. We're planning on Taste Of Chicago madness and maybe that architecture cruise. And shopping. We're staying at the hotel Congress.

Anyway so Teeny, now that the stalking joke has proven unfunny and actually sort of weird, umm, have fun! I'm probably around through this weekend and should be able to work up some FAPivation.

Oh yes, I certainly haven't abandoned that plan. Just cutting out the July pre-move scouting trip.

I was on Michigan Ave this morning (note: I took a day off today, walked around the N. side, found some neat book stores, wandered down some unknown-to-me side streets. lovely lovely. I think I'm going to take a month off before I move to Paris to just wander around. today made me realize how much I dislike being at work) -- the folks wandering from the Taste seemed rather friendly, although my memories of it are of being horribly congested and not-fun. still, I'd rather not meet up there.

When does the movie series in Grant Park start? Anyone know?

I don't have a way of contacting anyone outside of e-mail or ILX. So I'd need someone to let me know here (preferably) what's going on.

But I also get the feeling we're being kind of half-hearted about this. I don't want to make a decision because I don't really know anyone that well -- so are we trusting Nabisco/Teeny to set it up?

Teeny would prefer to do something starting earlyish on Saturday, as she is leaving town early Sunday morning. And as you all know, I am boring and lazy and predictable about meeting up. Thus I suggest that we do the following: meet at 4:00 at Jinx. It's on the north side of Division avenue, just a building or two east of Damen: there is a large yellow sign with a black cat on it. We will meet up at Jinx between 4:00 and 5:00, and then we can adjourn to Gold Star for drinks. Since there will probably not be loads of us, I'm assuming the change of venue will not be a big hassle.

Hopefully that is a good plan. I know this is not the kind of day during which you'll be checking ILE, but I'll try and log on and bump this as much as possible: please let me know if this is workable for people, and if I get a few yeses I'll confirm it with Teeny and let her know where to go. (If it's not workable for you, suggest alternatives: the only things that have to be set in stone are that we meet, umm, Saturday and in the early evening, and I'm picking this neighborhood to save Teeny transportation time from the Loop.)

Yo guys, I feel super shitty about this. I've got the FAP curse or something. On our way into the hotel just before I was going to head over to Jinx, my mom slipped on the stairs and fucked up her ankle and tore off half a fingernail. She was okay once she got some ice on it, but it totally freaked me out and I didn't want to leave her. Sorry for the near-hysteric message I left you, Nabisco, and sorry as well that circumstances intervened, since I suggested this whole thing and you were nice enough to organize it around my schedule. I owe you guys.

Other than that it was quite fun...we gave ourselves over to being total tourists...went to the Taste once or twice a day, walked up and down Michigan shopping, went to the Art Institute & the MCA, Wrigleyville, did the Architecture river tour.
